Lisa is shocked when she discovers an unopened letter informing her that a health visitor will be calling to check on Belle's well being - today! In a panic she orders Zak to tidy up the house. But it's only a matter of time before things start to go wrong. With his attention focused on the television, Zak fails to notice that Belle has wandered off in front of the health visitor's car. When the shaken up official appears at his front door, Zak refuses to co-operate. Ashley feels ashamed by his confrontation with Gavin. And his day gets worse when Diane hints that she knows how he feels about her daughter. But his mind is put to rest when Bernice tells him that he shouldn't blame himself for what happened - he was acting in her defence. Bernice is less than enthusiastic when Alan offers to buy Gavin's shares in The Woolpack.

The Sugden family's problems are about to escalate. When Richie tells Sarah that he has just seen her car being driven out of the village, they are convinced that it has been stolen. They give chase, but the pair are stopped in their tracks when Ashley steps out of the car. Her surprise turns to anger when the Reverend informs her that he bought it from Lisa who was selling it on Jack's request. Sarah confronts Jack and tells him that she can't believe he sold her car without her permission. And in the heat of the moment she tells him exactly how she feels about the state of their marriage. Chris is less than happy to see that Frankie has returned to the village. And the Tate Haulage boss warns her that if there is any trouble she will regret it. Chris feels left out when he sees Terry playing with Joseph and his new pony.

Jack is devastated by Sarah's revelation. With his marriage crumbling around him, he tries to make her see sense. But he is astounded when she ignores his pleas. At the Diner, Eric demands cutlery and ketchup with his breakfast and when all he gets from Sarah in return is a sour face, he snidely comments that if she's this cheerful at home then it's no wonder she and Jack are facing marital difficulties. Sarah reacts angrily, tells Eric where he can stick his ketchup and retreats to the kitchen in tears. Kathy confronts her and is taken aback to discover just how serious her problems are. Ashley is lost for words when Diane questions him about his feelings for Bernice. He denies that he is in love with her, but Diane tells him to leave her daughter alone. Zoe tells Ashley that he is being dishonest with himself unless he tells Bernice how he feels about her. Zoe tells Chris to stop interfering in her life.

Ashley gets his dog collar in a twist when he decides to confess his love for Bernice. Bolstered by Zoe's words of wisdom he manages to dodge Diane and tells Bernice he's got something to say. When she says she knows he misunderstands and unnoticed moves in for a kiss only to be devastated when Bernice says she'll happily help out at the church sale. And Scott is shocked when Bernice presents him with a huge bill for his works Christmas party which she wants paying the following day. The turmoil at the Sugdens is affecting Andy, only days before the boy is officially adopted by the family. But Jack reassures the perceptive youngster that whatever happens between him and Sarah he will still be his father. Kelly is deeply hurt when Scott warns her Lyn is coming back for a few days. Kathy has pangs of guilt about betraying Rachel with Graham. And Mandy phones Paddy to say she'll be back tomorrow.

Kelly is desperate for someone to listen to her troubles. But Mandy is busy catching up with everyone since returning from her father's and when she appeals to Chris he cuts her to quick saying he's told her before, she should leave Roy. Alan convinces Diane to back Bernice and offer to help her with the money to buy The Woolpack. Eric takes a side-swipe at Graham in front of Kathy, doubting his trustworthiness. Betty tells Seth she's going to Hotten to meet a friend - what he doesn't know Is that the friend is her old flame Reggie. Lisa thinks she's got Zak out of the way for the health visitor. But he comes back shouting the odds and all but throws the poor woman out of the house.

Kelly's troubles are mounting by the minute. She finally tells Mandy about the night with Scott while Roy was in prison but is unprepared for her reply. Meanwhile, Paddy discovers the pile of unfinished work Kelly has been hiding and tells her she's sacked. Later he softens but says she must start work at 6am each morning until she has caught up. At home things are bad too as Viv announces she's going to have to sell the shop. Jack and Sarah are moved when Andy says he couldn't bear losing another family. They agree to make an effort for the sake of the kids. Bernice and Diane announce their partnership at The Woolpack. And Graham wants to make it public about him and Kathy especially after Pete asks her for a date. But Kathy tells him it will all come out in good time. And Bernice breaks all ties with Gavin by ceremoniously throwing his engagement ring into the river - witnessed by Ashley.

Kelly is in the depths of despair. With her life crumbling around her, the young girl can only see one way of solving all her problems. When Donna discovers her sister packing a bag she becomes convinced that she is planning to run away, but Kelly puts her mind to rest. Kelly explodes in fury when Viv complains that she isn't pulling her weight in the shop. Scott tries to talk sense into her but his words fall on deaf ears. When Kelly goes to tidy her father's grave Ashley interrupts her. But when she tries to talk to him about her problems, the Reverend tells her that he doesn't have time at the moment.

Kelly's troubles have the village searching deep in their hearts. Roy thinks he's been a bad husband and confides in Scott unaware that he's more to blame than most. Viv and Donna feel they could have done more and Chris is contrite after turning her away when she asked for help. Mandy also wishes she'd listened more but gives Scott a real piece of her mind. And Ollie persuades Angie to let her go to the cinema with a new boyfriend much to her father's horror.

Roy is at the hospital at Kelly's bedside. He tries to put the ring on Kelly's finger, but then retrieves it back from her. Donna, Viv and Terry arrive at the hospital, but Donna can't face the thought of Kelly helpless and rushes out of the corridor. Terry persuades Roy to get some rest, but as soon as he leaves the room, Viv feels helpless and wants to come too. With that, Roy shouts out, 'Never leave her, understand me?'. Breakfast at the Sugden's and Andy doesn't want to go to school. Jack discovers that Andy doesn't want the torment at school about Kelly trying to commit suicide, but Jack persuades him to go. Terry sits next to Donna at the hospital waiting room.

Scott arrives in the hospital to see how Kelly is. Roy is at her bedside. Paddy feels guilty about what happened to Kelly. Mandy apologies to Paddy about the argument. Outside the post office, Donna misses her bus, and Kev asks if she wants a lift. In the car, Donna confides to Kev how she blames herself for what happened to Kelly, and that she knew she was drinking secretly. He comforts her. At the Dingle's house Lisa starts cleaning much to Zak's annoyance. He persuades Zak to get out of the house by money. Bernice calls a meeting with Alan, Diane and Tricia about how best to accommodate everyone. Alan and Diane will have their own room, and Trish and Bernice will share. Trish thinks it's a great idea to share clothes with Bernice, much to Bernice's horror! Back at the hospital, Roy feels as though she has let Kelly down.

Roy is distraught that Kelly is refusing to see him. But the doctor advises him that in her present state of mind, it is essential that Kelly does not have any pressure put upon her. Kathy arrives at the hospital and persuades Roy to go home. Lisa visits Roy to see how he is coping and is shocked to discover that Kelly had been pregnant. Sarah tries to forget her marriage problems by going out with Angie for the evening. But when she returns home drunk, tempers flare. Eric reveals his suspicions about Graham to Marlon. Zoe has a heart to heart with Frankie about their relationship and how her life has changed since Liam's death. Betty is shocked to discover that Seth has invited Reggie to move into their house. And Sean tells Zak that he is interested in buying his pink diesel.

It's the day of the inquest into Liam's death and Chris and Zoe prepare themselves to face the coroner. Chris is concerned by Zoe's refusal to discuss what they are going to say. Will she finally crack and tell the whole truth? Eric reveals to Marlon that he has a plan to flush Graham out. When Graham arrives home he discovers an anonymous letter accusing him of being a killer. Convinced that he knows who is responsible, Graham confronts Eric and threatens him - unaware that Marlon is listening to every word. Betty admits to Reggie that his arrival has brought back memories she has tried to forget.

Graham destroys the letter that Eric sent accusing him of being a murderer. But unknown to him Marlon too has started to suspect his role in Rachel's death. He tells Eric that his plan to push Graham until he snaps is too dangerous. But how are they going to trap him? Kelly admits to Mandy that she is going to tell Roy about her affair with Scott. Betty visits Kelly and persuades her to talk about her problems. Their conversation spurs Betty to reveal her own misgivings to Seth about not having children. Marc gets his own back on Sean and Angie for missing his Parents Evening by holding a party while they are out. Jack seeks reassurance from Sarah about the state of their marriage. Meanwhile, Richie is embarrassed about the pass he made to her. And Zoe tells Chris that she doesn't approve of his intention to buy the Wylie farm.

Kelly is determined to rid herself of the guilt she feels over her affair with Scott. She asks Roy to visit her at the clinic to discuss their relationship. Kelly reveals the truth about her affair with Scott, and that she doesn't know who was the father of her unborn baby. She tells Roy that she is going to make a fresh start in London, a revelation that threatens to push him over the edge. Viv is puzzled to find Scott destroying Kelly's suicide letters. He admits that Kelly never wants to see him again. Marlon's mission to warn Kathy about Graham ends in failure, when she tells him to stop interfering in her life. Betty turns to Ashley for advice regarding Reggie's attempt to destroy her relationship with Seth. Richie informs Scott that Daletech is experiencing some serious financial difficulties. And Marc frames Ollie into taking the blame for the party at their house.

Roy has a heart to heart with Seth regarding his relationship with Kelly. His dreams are in tatters due to his wife's revelations. When Donna visits her sister and tells her how bad things are in the Windsor household, Kelly promises that she will be home soon. Kelly admits to Chris that she has been running away from her problems. Eric puts part two of his plan to flush Graham out into action. Concerned for Kathy's safety, he delivers another anonymous letter, alluding to Graham's involvement in his first wife's death. With his back against the wall, Graham approaches Kathy and tells her he wants to start a new life away from the village. But how will she react? Betty reveals the truth about Reggie's involvement in her life to Seth.

Butch is horrified to discover that his mother has returned to the village. The young lad cannot believe her audacity - especially after all she has put her family through. Zak explains to Nellie that she will only be able to stay temporarily. But the cunning Dingle has other plans, and it's not long before she has her feet firmly under the table. Butch is knocked for six when Lisa reveals that Nellie has moved in to Mandy's old flat. But his anger turns to sympathy when she tells him of her own concerns. Seth cannot understand why Betty allowed Reggie to re-enter her life. When the scoundrel appears at his doorstep, Seth resorts to drastic measures to make him leave. Chris offers to support Kelly in her decision to make a fresh start in London.

Roy's happiness hangs in the balance. Richie and Sarah give in to temptation. Eric and Marlon finally have Graham in their sights. Kelly has finally made a decision about her future - she is moving to London.

Kathy offers Roy a solution to his marital problems. However Kelly is less than pleased with the suggestion. Kathy tells Roy that she doesn't think Kelly is good enough for him - he should finish their relationship before she ends up making both their lives a misery. Marlon's concerns for Kathy's safety grow. The worried Dingle confronts Graham and tells him that he knows he was responsible for his wife's and Rachel's deaths. Concerned by their interference, Graham suggests to Kathy that Eric and Marlon are trying to undermine their relationship, so that they can get their hands on the Diner.

It's Valentine's Day and romance is in the air as Betty asks Seth to marry her. Viv assumes Richie has sent her a Valentine's card, which annoys Sarah. Richie himself is left upset when Sarah decides to spend the evening with Jack. Lisa immediately suspects Nellie when a Valentine's card arrives for Zak. Bernice and Marlon prepare for The Woolpack's aphrodisiac night. But will the magical powers of the food work? Bernice is curious when a blank Valentine's card arrives for her. That evening, her secret admirer - Ashley tries to reveal his true feelings, but Diane intercepts him. Marlon is horrified when Kathy admits that she is falling for Graham and races off to tell Eric. And Roy's attempt to cheer up Kelly with a romantic meal ends in disaster.

Sarah gets angry when Jack's assumes that after last night, their relationship is back to normal. Jack tells Kathy that Sarah is only staying with him for the sake of the children. Sarah is furious to learn that Jack has been discussing the state of their marriage with Kathy. When Kathy offers her advice, Sarah tells her that she has no right to interfere in her affairs, especially after she gave up Alice without a fight. Lisa confronts Nellie and demands that she looks for somewhere else to live, but is left speechless when Zak says his ex will always be welcome. Eric goads Graham when he tells him that he has an appointment with his solicitor. Kathy offers Emily a job at the Diner - an action that causes a storm with her employer Viv. Betty confides to Bernice that she has done something daft - she has proposed to Seth and he has accepted. And Richie invites Sarah for a quiet drink at his offices - but will she accept?

Sarah criticises Jack for airing their marriage problems to Kathy, and tells him that she got a slap around the face as a result. Sarah apologises to Kathy for her comments regarding Alice and is surprised when Kathy offers to forgive and forget. Lyn tells Scott she wants nothing more to do with him, after discovering the truth about Kelly. Kathy asks Zoe to help find Roy and Kelly a home of their own. Lisa tells Butch that she caught Zak and Nellie in a clinch, but is embarrassed after discovering Ollie sent Zak the Valentines card. Richie is relieved when Sarah tells him that she doesn't regret what happened last night - but they must keep their affair a secret. Chris is furious about business decisions taken without his knowledge, and is rocked further when Kelly reveals she has decided not to move to London, despite all his help.

Graham surprises Kathy with the news that he has booked a holiday cottage on the coast. But will she agree to go away with him? Eric and Marlon threaten Graham - they will make him pay for his crimes. Eric admits to Sarah that he is worried about Kathy. But his words fall on deaf ears. Bernice forces Betty and Seth to admit their reservations about getting married. Richie tells Sarah that the only way they will be able to stop their affair is if one of them leaves the village. Zak and Lisa continue to bicker about Nellie's presence in the Dingle home. Richie has a go at Scott for not pulling his weight at Dale-Tec. And Zak's attempt to sell Sean his pink diesel ends in failure.

Sarah tells Eric that Kathy has gone away for the weekend with Graham and he panics for her safety. Graham believes that Kathy has given his life a whole new purpose and wants her to move away with him. She assures him that she isn't ready to commit, and they depart on bad terms. Marlon comes to Eric's beck and calls as they begin to dig deep for information on where Kathy's gone. They interrogate Roy, who doesn't know. Eric decides that they have to break into Mill Cottage. Kathy begins packing her things to go home. Graham pleads with her to stay and locks the bedroom door behind him. The two partners in crime manage to break into Mill Cottage and find a holiday brochure for the place where Kathy and Graham are staying. The first seeds of doubt are planted in Kathy's mind when Graham tells her that Eric and Marlon blame him for Rachel's death

The village is awash with gossip now the truth is out about Graham and his role in Rachel's death. Eric wastes no time telling everyone that he suspected Graham, but even the police wouldn't listen to his theories, and he berates Sarah for not believing him and shouts at her and Betty in the diner when they say that he should have said something sooner. Chris plays the knight in shining armour when he moves reporters away from Kathy's front door, and later Terry asks another to leave The Woolpack.

Richie lands in hot water when he starts boasting about seeing an older married woman to regulars at the pub. Jack overhears him and innocently states that Sarah wouldn't mess around. Ollie's in deep trouble when Viv catches her stealing chocolates from her shop and drags her off to confront her parents. Viv is immovable when the four meet and tells Angie that she's had enough of thieves and wants to prosecute the wayward teenager. Claudia is deeply upset when Chris gives her the cold treatment after their moment of passion and Zoe isn't too happy with Frankie when she arrives back with a big hangover. However she mellows when Frankie explains exactly why she went to see Chris.

Sarah is furious with Richie when she hears about his loose tongue. And she tells him she can't trust him and that their fling is over. Later at the pub Richie swallows his pride and announces that he was making the whole thing up and Sarah realises that he really does care for her. Angie and Sean try to discuss what's gone wrong with Ollie but ultimately end up bickering. The teenager confronts them in a flood of tears and begs them to stop. Nellie upsets Lisa again when she gives Emily an over-the-top makeover. With all her troubles seemingly behind her Kelly can hardly believe she's moving into Chris's cottage with Roy. Eric learns his story will be running on the front page of a local newspaper next week.

Eric is delighted when he sees that the Hotten Courier has printed a story hailing him as a local hero for saving Kathy's life. Angie is annoyed when the press phone her wanting to know why she failed to spot a murderer living in the village. Her day goes from bad to worse when she makes Ollie apologise to Viv for shoplifting. Angie tries to appease the local shopkeeper by offering compensation, but Viv tells her that she still wants to involve the police. Marlon causes mischief when he tells Tricia that Laura's birthday party will have a kids fancy dress theme. She's mortified when she makes her grand entrance, dressed as a rabbit, only to discover that everyone else is dressed as normal. Lisa is furious when she finds that Zak has let Nellie look after Belle. When her husband returns home, Lisa issues him with an ultimatum - either Nellie leaves or she does. Chris tells Richie that he is interested in buying into Daletech - as long as Scott is no longer involved.

The Dingle family is falling apart. Butch tries unsuccessfully to persuade Lisa not to leave. When Zak discovers his wife has left him he tells Nellie that he won't be bullied. Zak visits Lisa and tries to resolve the situation, but she won't return while Nellie is there. Paddy prepares a romantic meal to celebrate Mandy's return, but is disappointed when he opens the door to find Lisa there. Sean and Angie are concerned by Ollie's attitude at getting away with shoplifting, and decide she needs a lesson.

Paddy is in a difficult position. With Lisa living under his roof, he is worried that it may look as though he is taking sides in her argument with Zak. Eric warns Paddy that he should watch out when Zak finds out that he is sheltering his wife and daughter. Claudia questions Terry about Chris's love life. Kathy is amused when Claudia visits her and starts to enquire about her past relationship with Chris. Emily tells Ashley that she is writing a letter to the missing person's help line in an attempt to find her father. Ollie tells her parents that she won't forgive them for putting her through her ordeal at the police station. And Sean and Angie are left speechless when Marc interrupts their argument and suggests that they should split up.

Alan invites Diane out for a day walking in the Dales but their ideas of an idyllic day turn out to be very different. Unimpressed by the country air Diane heads straight for nearest pub to flirt with the locals, much to Alan's disgust. Richie's business knowledge impresses cold-blooded Chris who agrees to give a contract to Daletec computers, on one condition - that Scott has no involvement. After a fall out with Zoe, Frankie heads off for a heavy night's drinking with Pete and returns to Home Farm in the early hours having lost her key. Her attempts to break into an upstairs window end in chaos when the alarms go off and the police arrive.

Jack loses his temper with Robert after discovering that he has been cleaning cars to earn extra pocket money. In his anger he tells Andy that he feels more like a son than Robert and immediately regrets it. Scott agrees to hand over his share of the business to Richie, who keeps quiet about his arrangement with Chris. But Sarah wonders whether Richie is out of his depth in getting rid of Scott so ruthlessly. The Dingle family crisis takes a turn for the worse when Zak and Lisa come to blows over Nellie. Whilst Marlon is reluctant to get involved,

Robert and Andy fall-out just as a letter finalising Andy's adoption hearing arrives. Sarah is adamant that Jack should repair his relationship with Robert before he takes on another son but Jack's attempts fail when he lashes out in anger. Mandy's return to the village sets the cat amongst pigeons when she undoes Butch's coaxing words to Zak by shouting endless abuse at him. Meanwhile, Butch tells Lisa that she is more of a mum to him than Nellie could ever be.

The problems in the Sugden household continue to grow. Jack tries to apologise to Robert for losing his temper, but the damage is done. Sarah is furious when she learns Jack has let Andy take the day off school to help on the farm. Butch criticises Zak for his heavy drinking and tells him to sort himself out and talk to Lisa. Zak bumps into Lisa at the Diner and asks her to come home. But she tells him that she won't be returning until he has told Nellie to leave. Sean and Angie have a heart to heart about the state of their relationship.

Emily's life is in turmoil when her father refuses to have anything to do with her while she is with Butch - which might be a long time because he's about to propose to her! Lisa refuses to let Zak take their daughter out of her sight. Things are so bad Butch tells Mandy that he would like to call a Dingle conference in an attempt to get Zak and Lisa back together. Viv organises a protest meeting against Tate Haulage and is surprised when Chris and Zoe arrive. Her attempt to gain support from the locals ends in failure when Chris explains that most local businesses have benefited from Tate Haulage in one way or another. And Tricia and Bernice take an immediate shine to Carlos, the new chef.

Sarah finds Andy contemplating in the yard. She guarantees him that there is no reason to worry and that going to court is just a formality. During a gloat about Viv's campaign, Zoe calls attention to Chris that a portion of the locals is genuinely concerned about Tate Haulage's position in the community. Butch visits Lisa to ask her to come Wishing Well for a family conference which she hesitantly consents to. Kathy assures Viv that she will try anything to stop the trucks coming through the village. Carlos utilizes his charms on Viv and succeeds. At court, the judge tells the Sugden's that adoption is a very crucial matter and solicits what Robert thinks from the circumstance, to which he answers on commenting about Jack's brutality.

The atmosphere at the Dingles is at an all-time low. Zak is in a foul mood following the shambles of the Dingle family conference. Lisa arrives at the Dingles to ask Zak to baby-sit. But when Nellie makes it clear that she is unwelcome, Butch shocks his mother by taking Lisa's side. Butch tells Emily that he has an idea how they can build some bridges with her father - he is going to ask him for her hand in marriage.

The peace and tranquillity of the village is shattered when disaster strikes. A crash brings Emmerdale to a stand still, when an out of control lorry driven by Pete, collides with the supermarket bus. The Woolpack regulars hear an almighty thud and rush out to see the carnage. Paddy rushes over to help but injures his arm. Alan is OK but is horrified to discover that he is the only one who has managed to escape from the wreckage and is comforted by Eric and Tricia, so what has become of the other passengers, including Kathy, Sarah, Victoria, Seth, Marc and Butch?

The rescue operation enters the night and the villagers are becoming frustrated by how long the emergency services are taking. Suddenly, voices are heard from the wreckage, and the hopes of those present grow. The Dingles are overwhelmed with relief when Butch is brought out from the wreckage. Emily tells him that they've been blessed. The P.C. Gemmell questions Alan and Viv about the accident. Viv blames the whole crash on Pete. Jack suggests to Chris that he is only present so that he can work out a press statement, seeing that it was his vehicles that were involved in the accident. Chris fears the worst when a lifeless blonde woman is brought off the bus, but is it Kathy? And he reacts angrily when a department of transport investigator tries to question him

The village tries to come to terms with the aftermath of the bus crash. Relatives comfort one another as victims recover in hospital. Sarah is concerned that Jack won't be able to manage without her. He assures her that at a time like this everyone pulls together. Kathy asks Chris to help the village return to normal. Laura calls an urgent board meeting at Tate Haulage. The legal eagle informs those present that she has drafted a press release, and warns them about making any comments, which might imply the company is guilty of negligence. Chris says that Tate Haulage will survive - whatever it takes. Zoe wants Tate Haulage to take steps to help the people who were in the accident.

With Butch lying in hospital having been told he isn't going to recover from his injuries, Emily looks to their brief future together. The pair talk about their forthcoming wedding and decide that there is no time like the present. Butch enlists Marlon to be his best man and plans are hastily made, including an impromptu stag party. Zak goes in search of Ashley and asks him to conduct the wedding ceremony. Emily is overjoyed when Lisa produces the dress that Butch bought her. With their friends and family in attendance, Ashley marries the happy couple. The family leave the couple alone, and Emily stays with Butch until he dies. Laura tells Chris, Zoe and Sean that Pete had not been drinking before the accident. The Sugden family visit Sarah in hospital to celebrate her birthday. She cannot help but enquire about Richie.

The aftermath of the bus crash threatens to tear the village apart. Friends are becoming enemies as everyone tries to apportion blame. Frankie intimates that Zoe and Chris are only concerned about what is best for Tate Haulage. And she is appalled when she overhears Chris and Zoe's blase attitude towards the crash, and fuelled by her anger, storms out of Home Farm. Scott has devised a new way of getting rich quick - blackmail. And Alan accuses Eric of only attending bus crash victim Councillor Simmons funeral so that he can make business contacts.

Betty is panic stricken when she overhears a doctor telling a nurse that an elderly patient has died. She races to Seth's ward to find his bed empty. Her fears are put to rest by a doctor, but where could the mischievous old man have gone? Zak and Nellie are speechless when Eric arrives accompanied by a surprise visitor, their son Sam! Sean becomes concerned when he discovers that the paperwork for the service on Pete's lorry was never completed. The inspection at Tate Haulage begins, and Blanchard tells Chris and Sean that he will identify whoever is responsible for the crash. Chris tells Zoe he intends to place the blame for the crash with Sean. Jack makes an effort to repair his relationship with Robert. He tells his son that he does not expect him to take over the reigns on the farm, the most important thing is that he finds a job that he will enjoy. And Richie is furious when Scott drops by the Sugdens house to see him.

Chris tells Sean they need to put up a united front over Tate Haulage's involvement in the accident. He suggests that Laura, as a lawyer, should put the company's case to the Department of Transport Inspectors. But will she be able to convince them that they were not responsible? Loves young dreams, Donna and Marc are having problems finding time to spend together. But when Ollie tells him that she is going out, he seizes the opportunity. Marc tells his sister that he won't be able to leave the house because he has too much homework and with the family out of the way, he invites Donna over. And it's not long before they are doing more than homework! But, their moment of teenage passion is broken when Ollie walks in unannounced and is appalled to find her brother and best friend in a clinch. Lisa confides to Roy that she feels that she may have been responsible for the bus crash.

Wracked with guilt Lisa confides in Paddy that she didn't finish servicing a lorry and this may have inadvertently caused the bus crash. Violence erupts in The Woolpack when a customer threatens Angie causing a protective Sean to lash out forcing Terry to attempt to restore order. Kelly shocks Mandy and Paddy by inviting them around for an expensive takeaway - at their expense! Emily's father reveals he's got a new job, leaving Emily heartbroken that he will have to leave Emmerdale.

A defiant Sean refuses to apologise for starting a fight but Chris doesn't want another scandal alongside the transport investigation so - at a Tate Haulage meeting - Sean is taken off the board. Kathy organises a fund-raising campaign for the families of the crash victims but is shocked by Chris's lack of compassion. Feeling left out, Ollie suggests to Angie that Donna and Marc may have slept together in an attempt to split them up.

Sean is determined not to apologise for the fight but Angie - realising they need the money - implores Chris to reinstate him on the board. The Department of Transport conclude that Tate Haulage may be liable for prosecution causing Chris to try and blame Lisa for the accident. Fuelled by Ollie's malicious gossip Angie tells Viv she suspects Donna and Marc have slept together, leaving her livid. Ashley invites Bernice for a dinner that culminates in a shocking revelation; he's in love with her.

Rivals Adam and Marlon vie for the attentions of Tricia and are keen to agree to Kathy's suggestion that they should battle it out in a cookery competition. Lisa refuses to deny that the crash wasn't her fault which frustrates Kathy who confronts Chris about his accusations. Donna and Marc continue to see one another, ignoring their parent's disapproval.

A destitute Sean confides in Lisa that he's been kicked off the board of Tate Haulage and submersed with guilt she reveals she did tell Pete the lorry was unsafe to drive. A happy family meal goes sour when Zak tells Nellie he wants to leave her. Meanwhile, Sarah gives Richie similar news; her family come first and their affair is over.

Nellie admits to Zak that she still loves Butch, even beyond the grave, which causes him to maliciously crush some flowers Butch once planted. Later they make amends and consolidate their love for one another in bed. Carlos plans to get a new place with Marlon and Terry but is beaten to it by Richie who is desperate to get away from the Sugen household. Angie is angry to find Sean gardening rather than trying to get his job back.

Angie forces Sean up to the haulage yard when she sees the family are at stake. Instead, he spends his day at the pub and is talked into joining Kathy’s campaign. Angie’s furious to discover this and confronts Sean. It’s clear she has no remorse for the village, Lisa or the Dingles, and demands that Sean must stay loyal to the company for the sake of their family. The morning after, Zak instantly regrets spending the night with Nellie and desperately tries to escape her amorous clutches. Tricia takes it upon herself to fix Ashley and Bernice when Bernice is beside herself at work. She’s gutted to hear from Ashley that Bernice will never love him, and because of the strongness of his feelings towards her, he has to accept that. Sarah’s getting frustrated with family life, while Jack’s happy to have spent the day with his children while they taught Victoria how to ride a bike.

Tensions run high at the village meeting and Sean is torn between supporting Lisa and joining his family in blaming her for the bus crash. At the meeting, Sean defends safety at Tate Haulage and Lisa tells everyone that she advised Pete not to take the truck out but Chris manages to twist her words by accusing her of trying to pin the blame on a dead man. Roy leaps to her defence but, when Chris questions him, he has to admit that he didn't hear Lisa warn Pete and no one can back up her story.

Chris is overjoyed that he managed to ruin the village meeting but Laura warns him that the battle is far from over. Bernice finally succumbs to Ashley's charms and jumps to his defence when Betty and Viv brand him a thug. Richie is determined to move out the house but Sarah has second thoughts despite her decision that they should end their relationship.

Ashley wakes up with Bernice and is delighted when she says she wants to continue their relationship. Lisa's customers cancel their appointments after her revelation of negligence and she faces financial ruin leaving her with no option but to close down and move in with Betty. Kathy goes to confront Chris but is repelled by Laura who threatens to call the police so she seeks out Zoe and demands the truth.

Kelly feels Roy is selling himself short by taking on a new job working on the Sugden's farm. Her foul mood results in a fight with Mandy, whereupon Mandy vows to have nothing more to do with her. Seth and Zak are forced to contend with Cain who tags along on a poaching trip that abruptly ends when he inadvertently shoots Zak. Eric announces that he's going to stand for council in the local elections but gets off to a bad start with Ashley when he attempts to discuss the morals of a vicar sleeping with a barmaid.

Viv puts pay to a romantic meal between Donna and Marc when she storms in and demands her daughter leave. Ollie embarrasses Andy when she persuades him to dance with her and then laughs in his face causing him to run home in tears. Terry and Claudia arrange an evening out together that quickly turns to a night of passion.

Chris arrives at the Haulage Yard to find that the lorries have been sabotaged but threatens to fire the drivers unless they use them. Kathy and Angie suspect Cain is responsible but he is adamant that he is innocent. Following her public humiliation, Donna refuses to have anything more to do with Viv and is determined to live out her relationship with Marc. Sean and Angie are shocked to learn that Ollie has been stealing at school and has been expelled!

The Tate Haulage drivers go on strike, refusing to work in unsafe conditions, meaning Chris has no option but to seek help from arch enemy Sean. Zak tells Nellie that their night of passion meant nothing and demands she leave the house, professing that Lisa is the woman he loves and thus persuading her to move back in.

Lisa is livid to find out about Zak's night with Nellie and throws her out of the house. She refuses to listen to his pleas for forgiveness obstinate that she cannot trust him. Kathy attempts to disrupt a clandestine meeting Chris has arranged over the road accident but her intentions are foiled when a local paper captures her throwing a glass of brandy in his face. Sean chastises Ollie over allegations that she is a thief and threatens her with boarding school which pushes her to run away from home.

Chris confronts Claudia adamant that she must have told Kathy about his secret meeting. Her denials fall on deaf ears and he fires her causing her to pose the question to Terry; should they leave the village? Kathy is furious to see a Tate Haulage lorry so soon after the accident but Sean is more concerned with where Ollie might be. Andy is shocked to discover her in the Sugden's barn where she swears him to secrecy steadfast that she's not going home.

Bernice and Ashley get together when they go on a camping trip with Tricia and Adam who have less luck with their romantic exploits. Andy unsuccessfully tries to convince Ollie to go back to her parents but she shocks him with the revelation that Sarah and Richie are having an affair. Rejected by Zak, Nellie attempts to persuade Sam to return to Ireland with her, leaving him in an awkward predicament.

Robert isn't happy when Andy is allowed the day off school, knowing he's faking his illness. Zoe feels excluded when Frankie is spending most of her time with Jason, who is slowly but shortly outstaying his welcome at Home Farm. However, unbeknown to Zoe when Frankie tells him he can stay for as long as he wants. Tricia, Adam, Bernice and Ashley return to the village from their camping trip, however, it seems Ashley and Bernice were the only ones who truly enjoyed themselves. Andy brings Ollie suppliances who is still squatting in the Farm's barn. Ollie offers her condolences to Andy after what she heard between Sarah and Richie, Andy is reluctant to believe it. He tries to persuade her to contact her parents to reassure them she's okay,

Robert discovers Ollie’s hiding place and threatens to tell all where she is, she blackmails him using Andy as a source. After spending all night in the car, Eric and Sam awake outside the hotel to see Councillor Ecclestone leaving. Pollard takes several snaps to gather his evidence. Charity is furious when she’s conned by Pollard, who promised her £200 for her deeds with Ecclestone, but instead receives a blank piece of paper. Pollard tells her that her work is a pay-off for the money she stole off him at Butch’s funeral. Kathy persuades Bernice to join them on the Tate Haulage protest. Richie plans to take Sarah away for the day to look at a cottage in Robblesfield for the two of them. Richie covers for Sarah’s whereabouts by telling Jack that she has a physio appointment. Andy is suspicious.

Ollie returns home and Andy is left incredulous after Sarah chastises him for his involvement in the disappearance whilst all the time lying about her affair with Richie. Chris is furious to discover the weight restriction Councillor Ecclestone has imposed on the wagons and Kathy - pleased with chaos the protest caused - is released from prison.

Ollie comes to blows with Angie and stuns her with the revelation that Sarah is having an affair with Richie. Tricia persuades an unenthusiastic Adam to go on holiday to Spain with her so she persuades Carlos to give her Spanish lessons and becomes mesmerised by his accent. Kathy plans a holiday to Australia to celebrate her victory in getting the lorries restricted whilst Betty and Diane spar over who will run the diner in her absence.

Sarah fears her affair with Richie will be exposed after she finds out that Ollie has been telling everyone. She confronts Andy and tries to persuade him Ollie's imagination has run riot, but as suspense mounts so do the rumours. Eric and Alan come to blows over each other's election campaigns but the conflict is resolved when Alan suggests they should hold an open debate.

Sarah confesses that she's having an affair with Richie then drops the bombshell that she's planning to set up home with him! Betty is angered by Kathy's decision to let Diane manage the diner as she sees no reason why she can't do it. Sparks fly between Mandy and Paddy when Mandy suggests Jason could move in with them.

Eric's underhand methods for winning the election reach an all-time low when he covers up his rivals posters and Tricia advises Alan to adopt similar tactics raising the question, how low will the depths of their adversity sink to? Roy's hopes for a romantic evening with Kelly are shattered when she criticises him for losing his job, whilst Richie gives Sarah an ultimatum; tell Jack about their affair or he will.

Richie pressures Sarah, so she agrees to tell Jack. Ollie tells Angie that she saw Sarah and Richie kissing, so Angie warns her to keep quiet, but that doesn't stop Ollie from teasing her. Sarah confides in Angie that she isn't prepared to leave Jack and Angie tells her that she's playing with fire. But later in lost in lust with Richie, she tells him that they have waited long enough. Richie rushes home and packs his and Sarah's belongings. But when Robert turns up home early, Richie takes him out, leaving the cases in Sarah's bedroom. Jack and Sarah make it back home alone and Sarah tries to pluck up the courage to talk to Jack. She's unable to tell him, but when Jack goes upstairs and discovers the cases and an impatient Richie arrives, Richie spills the beans. As Sarah and Richie leave, a distraught Jack calls out her name. It's the day of the May Fair in Emmerdale and Bernice's first official engagement.

Jack tells his son Andy that their mother Sarah has left them and Andy breaks down in tears. Sarah is torn apart by her decision to leave Jack and fearing she may have made a mistake begs him to let her speak to the kids. Distraught and disillusioned, Jack tells her that as far as he's concerned, the children no longer have a mother.

When Viv finds out that Sarah has been staying with Richie at the farm, news of their affair hits the village like a thunderbolt. Kathy confronts Sarah, feeling she is utterly selfish, and sacks her. A potential appearance on local radio is spoiled for Andy when Mandy mischievously orchestrates it for Paddy to appear in his place. Sam gets caught up in Viv and Eric's electioneering and a decision to help them both out can only end in disaster.

Jack comes to regret a decision to let Angie collect the kids from school, when Angie is swayed by Sarah to let her talk to them. Victoria lets slip what happened and Jack confronts Angie and accuses her of betrayal. Adam is furious to find out Mandy and Paddy have taken over his radio appearance, even more so when Mandy is offered her own regular slot as a mystic vet consultant.

Jack rejects Ashley's offer of marriage counselling and meets Laura to discuss his impending battle for custody of his kids. An alcohol fuelled Adam confronts Mandy about stealing his radio job and Viv receives some unwelcome advice from Edna who tells her she'll never win if she continues to dress like a strumpet!

It's the day of the local election and the candidates are all desperate to win votes, no one more so than Eric who is not adverse to using bribery to secure votes. Tricia announces her informal exit pole and declares Alan the winner, but will this result be reflected in the official court? Ashley is torn between his commitment to the church and love for Bernice when he is confronted by the Bishop about their relationship. A letter from Sarah poses a dilemma for Jack; should he show it to the children or destroy it?

Eric is declared winner of the local election and gloats about his success much to many of the resident's anger. None more so than Chris who manages to get the crooked councillor to come to an 'arrangement,' but at what cost? Ashley's dilemma over his relationship with Bernice escalates when Viv accuses him of trampling on family values. Ashley can take no more when Edna calls Bernice a tarty landlady and confronts everyone at The Woolpack.

Edna storms in on Ashley's church service and confronts Sarah about her affair with Richie. Ashley attempts to intervene but Edna accuses him of being a corrupt vicar. Sean and Angie organise a party to celebrate Marc passing his exams, but are devastated when he arrives home only to reveal he's failed. Eric refuses to pay Charity for helping him win the election but soon changes his mind when she threatens to expose his electioneering to Councillor Ecclestone.

The Reynolds are in shock over Marc's exams, but he has a secret; he failed them deliberately and is planning to start a new independent life and move in with Marlon. Jack hides Sarah's letter and tells her the children don't want to see her. This causers her to run home distressed to Richie, but he's quickly loosing patience. Chris and Laura set about orchestrate a scam that will result in Sean taking the rap should Tate Haulage be found guilty in the crash investigation.

Sarah is lambasted by Viv and Edna over her relationship with Richie at the post office where they tell her child benefit is for children, not the cradle-snatching mothers and their toy boys! Later a confrontation in the pub results in a fight between Richie and Jack. Marc enjoys his new independence living with Marlon and the Reynolds attempts to get him to come home fall on deaf ears.

Jack repents over his behaviour towards Sarah and organises for the kids to visit her. However he soon comes to regret this when she tells the kids they will soon live with her permanently! Terry and Carlos are less enthusiastic about Marc living with them so confront Marlon and tell him his friend must move out. Scott is having difficulties getting his garage business off the ground and accepts a dubious loan arrangement from Eric that can only end badly.

Lady Tara hosts a home coming party and Chris unsuccessfully attempts to flirt with her to secure investment in Tate Haulage, whilst Adam turns up with Virginia despite the fact he's dating Tricia! Sean spirits Angie away upstairs, whereupon Chris and Tara walk in to find them in a compromising position. Jack decides the kids should go to Spain whilst he and Sarah battle it out for custody and whilst she is less than certain, he gives her no choice.

Kelly finds out that Roy was chatting up Tricia at the party, whilst Tricia quizzes Mandy about Adam's antics. Whilst Mandy bites her tongue, Marlon is faced with a dilemma; should he tell her what happened? The antagonism between Sarah and Jack is taking its toll on Richie and he confesses to Sarah that he feels they're not as close as they used to be.

Marlon is determined to expose Adam as a love-rat so he persuades Virginia to reveal the truth about him to Tricia. Roy is furious to find out that Kelly has got him a job interview to stack shelves in the local supermarket and this forces him to swallow his pride and accept Scott's offer of a job at the garage. Laura is angry that Lady Tara has lied about her dire financial state, but agrees to help her convince Chris and Zoe to run a stud farm.

Tricia turns up at Adam's for a romantic night in and is shocked to find Virginia there, calling him back to bed! Kelly is distressed to hear about Roy and Scott's new partnership and express her distaste, but Roy tells her she'd better get used to it. Zoe rejects Lady Tara's proposal that she should invest in a stud farm leaving Laura's plans in tatters.

Tricia is devastated after last night's events and has been up all night crying. Meanwhile, Marlon's over the moon and very pleased with himself. Bernice hounds on Marlon for setting Tricia up when he arrives at work looking very happy. Marlon feels terrible, but Bernice refuses to let him near Tricia. Alan has words with Adam, but it's clear he hasn't been hurt in any of this. Finally, Marlon manages to track Tricia down. He confesses that he was responsible for setting her up, but then tells her he fancies her like mad. Tricia's disgusted. Charity spots Chris handing Eric over a handful of cash and decides to take a trip up to Home Farm. She has a proposition for him and they agree to a private arrangement. Sam phones up the radio to speak to Mystic Mandy when he has problems with Arlie the pig. He's pleased with the advice he gets when they turn into good results.

Marlon is concerned that in his efforts to expose Adam he may have destroyed his friendship with Tricia, but Bernice is hopeful he will be able to repair the damage. Tricia regrets a decision to turn down an offer to stay the night at The Woolpack when a shadowy figure breaks into her room. Marc rejects Sean's attempts to persuade him to return home and moves in with Jack.

Tricia is left distressed by last night's burglary and suspicion falls upon Lisa who has a spare set of keys to the house. Angie asks Jason and Lisa to accompany her to the station and clear everything up, but a hungover Jason throws up, so Lisa goes alone. Jason is convinced Cain is responsible and confronts him, causing Cain to admit he has an incriminating piece of evidence; a locket taken from Tricia's room. Jason tells Cain if he takes the stuff back, then he'll keep quiet, but Cain doesn't take too kindly to being threatened and gives him a kicking.

In the aftermath of the burglary Lisa is questioned and it becomes obvious to Zak that she will be blamed. He resolves to clear her name and confronts the real culprit, Cain. Edna confronts Ashley over what she sees as his torrid affair and contacts the Bishop in an effort to get him expelled from the church.

The Bishop is influenced by Edna's malicious stirring and suggests Ashley leave the village. Ashley is faced with a dilemma; will Bernice want to move up North with him? Zak demands Cain return Kathy's belongings and Cain is forced to admit that he has already sold some of the jewellery. Tricia and Marlon's relationship develops and Tricia finally admits that she is considering starting a relationship with him.

Ashley tells Bernice he has to visit a parish in Leeds, but little does she know the real reason for his trip; a new job. Chris unsuccessfully attempts to woo Tara to secure her investment in Tate Haulage, but she is left unimpressed. Cain continues to antagonise the Dingles and things come to a head when he accuses Lisa of being responsible for Butch's death.

Bernice is excited at the prospect of her forthcoming wedding to Ashley whilst best woman Zoe is concerned to hear Bernice knows nothing of Ashley's plans to move up north. Things come to a head when Bernice reveals to Ashley that she has asked the Bishop - the cause of his discomfort - to marry them! Chris has dinner with Tara as part of his continuing attempts to get her to invest in Tate Haulage, but she is more interested in persuading him to invest in the Stud Farm.

Bernice and Ashley's wedding plans are put at stake when Ashley inadvertently lets slip to the Bishop that he hasn't told his soon-to-be wife about his plans to move to Leeds. Ashley's dilemma heightens when Bernice makes him promise that there will be no secrets between the two of them.

Money comes between Roy and Scott when Roy suggests they both take a pay cut for the greater good of the business. Kathy thanks Zak and Lisa for returning her stolen belongings but Zak still refuses to admit that it had anything to do with him. Jack shocks Diane by declaring he will fight Sarah to the bitter end and get custody of his children; no matter what.

The findings of the investigation into the bus crash are finally revealed; Tate Haulage is in the clear! A devastated Emily interrupts Chris's champagne celebration and demands to see the report. He gives it to her and Kathy circulates it around the village, stirring up resentment. Roy refuses to go to Scott's birthday meal and continues to nurse resentment for him in the aftermath of their altercation.

Kathy pesters a distraught Emily to fight against the crash report causing her to lash out. Unperturbed, Kathy confronts Chris in a bitter row. Sarah and Richie arrive back in the village, but their portrayal of happiness is soon to be shattered by Jack who - upon learning of their arrival - vows to fight Sarah in court.

Chris offers Emily an out-of-court settlement which he sees as the necessary icing on the cake needed to cement his infallibility. Furious, Emily rejects this causing him to scuttle off back home. Later he starts to suspect Tara's financial situation isn't as stable as she has made out after she refuses to discuss any other business other than the Stud Farm.

Emily is in a more tranquil state of mind, but is shaken up on the fact that she wanted to kill Chris. Zak's decided that he doesn't want compensation and it's time to lay Butch to rest once and for all. Lisa still holds herself responsible for Butch's death and is offended that Emily hasn't retaliated in any kind of way. Despite Lisa's perception, Emily affirms her that she doesn't blame her for her husband's death. Richie gets a frosty reception from the residents in The Woolpack, who all feel sorry for Jack's distress. Sarah's left feeling amazed when she goes to visit Jack and he agrees to think about giving her access to the children. Ollie lands herself a summer job at Home Farm working for Lady Tara in the stables. Sean isn't happy and confronts the boss

Kelly accuses Roy of flirting with Tricia and an argument ensues that only adds to the downward spiral their relationship is already plummeting on. Kathy approaches Jack on Sarah's behalf and, resenting her interference, he angrily tells her he would rather see Sarah dead than comprehend giving her custody of Victoria. Jack's problems escalate when Ned tells him he'll never have enough money to fight a court battle and this causes Jack to consider the inconsiderable; selling the farm to Chris.

Frankie absconds with Tara's car for a night out clubbing with Zoe, Jason and Adam. Ned apologises for his behaviour at Kelly and Roy's wedding but events turn sour when Viv gets involved much to Kelly's horror. Cain plots revenge against the Reynolds over Butch's death and Angie is left shocked when she finds him creeping around her house.

Cain and Sam break into Tate Haulage only to have their revenge plans interrupted by Sean and Emily who arrive unexpectedly. A fight ensues and Sean is knocked out. Marlon desperately tries to find someone to cover him as The Woolpack chef so that he can take Tricia on holiday. As Tricia prepares herself to be disappointed Carlos steps forward and saves the day. Meanwhile, Bernice is less than thrilled to discover Tricia's replacement - Jason! Frankie loses Tara's car and is just about to tell Tara when Zoe reveals she took it as a joke.

With Sean lying unconscious, Emily and Sam begin to panic but are relieved when he finally comes to. Relief causes Sam to admit he loves Emily, but she is left horrified by this revelation. Angie attempts to offer Jack advice on his custody dispute, but he flips and tells her to stay out of his business. Edna is frosty towards Bernice at the Parish meeting but silence sweeps the room when Ashley announces he and Bernice are to be engaged.

Distraught by Emily's rejection, Sam runs away. Tara is pressed for money for the stud farm and so is less than pleased when Laura phones from Monaco to say she needs more time to get her divorce settlement. Cain's prowling continues and Angie is shocked to find him in the house with Ollie.

Lady Tara is increasingly concerned over her financial state and fears for the worst when Laura returns with news of her meetings with her husband's lawyers. She is overjoyed to discover the opposite; she has won a divorce settlement of £5 million! Zak tracks Sam down at Shadrach's house, where his dejected son reveals he is going to return to Ireland.

Tara tries to go back on her deal and pay Laura less than her agreed rate for organising the divorce settlement. Laura refuses to accept Lady Tara's underhand offers and gets her money. After selling her stake in Tate Haulage to Zoe and blackmailing more money from Chris, Laura leaves the area triumphant. Zak discovers the truth about Sam's rejection by Emily and is furious, but insists he wants his son to return home.

Adam and Paddy's rivalry reaches a new level when Zoe asks Adam to look after their interests in the stud farm. Paddy makes an excuse to visit but is kicked unconscious by a horse. Adam rushes to save him only to find he's stopped breathing. Roy refuses to fix Richie's car because of his affair and when pressed by Scott, quits his job. Ashley gets an interview in Leeds but can't bring himself to tell Bernice.

Paddy’s in a critical condition after his accident at Home Farm. Mandy waits anxiously beside his hospital bed and urges the doctor for news. She’s informed that Paddy could have brain damage. Kelly is getting bored with her nine-to-five life in the village and when Roy tells her about Ned’s offer – for the pair to move to Ibiza – she’s thrilled with the idea. It’s Sam’s birthday, but Zak is in no mood to celebrate. Sam sulks about his father’s behaviour, and Lisa’s caught in the middle. Ashley confides in Zoe about lying to Bernice about the job the bishop offered him. Zoe makes it clear that she shares no remorse for him. Kathy’s a little hurt when Roy tells her about his and Kelly’s plans. As with the pair gone, Kathy will have no more family in the village.

Bernice refuses to move to Leeds and rejects Ashley's attempts at justifying his underhand behaviour. Lady Tara comes under attack for leaving Ollie alone with the horse that nearly killed Paddy.

Roy and Kelly set off for a new live together in Ibiza, but before they go Roy drops a bombshell to Donna - Scott - was the father of his wife's miscarried baby! Bernice and Ashley refuse to compromise with one another so their friends gather to try and help save their marriage.

Dejected Kelly arrives back at The Woolpack only to be confronted by Donna who blurts out the truth about her and her brother Scott to the whole pub! Frankie quits her chauffeuring job with Lady Tara in order to work as a mechanic with Scott. Chris agrees to let Sarah and Richie rent his cottage, believing that Kelly and Roy have left.

Viv banishes Kelly from her house in the wake of the shocking revelation about her relationship with Scott. Kelly's attempts to stay with Chris and Mandy are rebuffed but Betty eventually offers her a bed. Tricia persuades Ashley to sacrifice his job offer for the sake of their relationship, while Jack and Sarah continue to feud on the eve of their kids return.

Jack and Sarah's kids arrive back and are heartbroken to discover that their parents haven't made amends. Emotions escalate when Jack rejects Sarah's request for Victoria to stay over. The Bishop pushes Ashley for a response to the job offer and he is torn between his career and Bernice. Kelly breaks down and admits that she understands why Roy left her after everything she put him through.

Bernice secretly visits the church project centre, the place Ashley is considering working. She is impressed by what goes on there but is left feeling torn between wanting what's best for him and not wanting to leave. Seth takes Kelly to The Woolpack but they are greeted by Mandy gossiping about the affair and a moralising rant from Edna.

Bernice decides to follow her heart and move to Leeds so that Ashley can work at the church project centre and they can still be together. The stark reality of divorce hits Robert and Andy who are forced to consider the possibility that they may be separated from their sister Victoria. Viv finally accepts that Scott is a scheming liar and equally as much to blame as Kelly and evicts him from the house.

Bernice attempts to break up an argument between Viv, Edna and Kelly but her intervention causes Edna to turn upon her and let rip about her relationship with Ashley. Robert and Donna face taunts at school over the tangled lives of their relatives while Alan and Zak are furious to see the Tates are running the school bus service!

When a court hearing is set for the feuding Sugdens, Sarah begs Jack to let her put across her side of the story. Andy intervenes, accuses her of splitting the family up and says she stopped being his mum the day she walked out. Ashley hosts his final service before departing for Leeds, but worries he's forcing Bernice into a life she doesn't want.

Ashley decides to forego his new job up North in order to stay with Bernice in Emmerdale but faces the dilemma of how he'll tell the Bishop. Seth secretly borrows some money from Betty in order to place some money on a horse that miraculously wins! However his success is short-lived and he is robbed by two teenage girls who steal his wallet and smash the figurine he bought with his winnings for Betty. The 2 girls then run off, leaving Seth distraught.

Betty is furious when she finds out about Seth's gambling from Sam. She confronts him in a rage but he is too tired and battered to explain what really happened and ends up sleeping on the couch. Jack questions Richie's commitment to Sarah, but his love-rival assures him he sees their future firmly set together. Marlon's dreams of running The Woolpack are shattered by Bernice and Ashley's decision to stay in the village.

Charity's relationship with Chris is complicated when Zak gets the wrong end of the stick and thinks she's having an affair with Terry. Mandy is furious when, at a family gathering, Paddy announces that Mandy's father is coming to live with them and they're going to start trying for a baby!

Donna is hurt and confused about the recent revelations of Scott and Kelly's relationship and finds that her life is being made a misery at school. In an attempt to help out Viv offers to speak to the head, but Donna tells her to stay out of her business. Upon hearing of Seth's mugging everyone rallies around him and he is persuaded to finally go to the police.

When Ollie tells Angie about Seth's mugging, she immediately suspects her daughter may know more than she's letting on about the incident. Viv is instantly smitten with Bob, a hosiery salesman, and embarks upon a quest to woo him with instant results!

Richie and Sarah's relationship starts to wear thin and matters are made even worse when Richie invites Scott - who has been sleeping rough - to come and stay. Moral-crusader Edna is flabbergasted when she walks into the post office and is confronted be Viv and Bob kissing after their night of passion together.

Sarah is shocked to discover that Scott has stayed the night and even more so when she finds out that Richie has extended the invitation for him to stay even longer! Kelly accepts Viv's offer to move home, much to Donna's annoyance and Paddy decides to visit Mandy in Southampton despite her warning him not to.

Paddy and Adam drive to Southampton to surprise Mandy – and help her father Caleb prepare to move to Emmerdale. But Paddy is the one left speechless when he makes a shocking discovery that will change his life forever. Bernice, Tricia and Diane’s plans to find Kathy a man takes a hopeful turn when they persuade Mike, one of the Tate Haulage drivers to go on a blind date with her. But will Kathy appreciate their meddling? Jack tells Marc that it is time he moved home and Sean and Angie are delighted when he turns up on their doorstep. And Tara holds an official opening ceremony for the Stud Farm offices. Sean is not impressed by the amount of money she's spent.

Paddy is distraught at the scene he witnessed in Southampton and has returned to Emmerdale without Mandy. He admits that he still loves her, but is now unsure if she loves him. He’ll get the chance to find out when there's a knock at the door and his wayward wife is standing in front of him. The girls plan to set Kathy up backfires when she realises what's going on. Mike, her blind date, looks on bemused as Kathy tears into Bernice, Diane and Tricia before storming out of The Woolpack. Seth has a win on the horses and buys Betty a china figure – similar to the one that was smashed when he was mugged. Jack collects Victoria and suggests to Sarah that they don’t need to go to court to fight for custody. But his wife is having none of it.

Paddy and Mandy can hardly believe the situation they are in. They went through so much to get married yet now, their relationship is on the rocks. Can Paddy forgive and forget? Does Mandy really love him or will her thoughts be back in Southampton? It really is make or break time for Emmerdale’s liveliest and most colourful couple.

Zak confronts Paddy over his relationship with Mandy but this only serves to anger Paddy further and results in the embittered husband throwing a jug of water over him. Later Paddy breaks down and admits to Lisa he is not sure how he will cope without his wife. Ollie feels she may know who mugged Seth, while Seth is adamant he will not go to the police.

Ollie reveals to Seth that she knows who his attackers were but he is still adamant he is not going to the police. Zak attempts to make amends with Paddy but a trip to the pub turns sour when Paddy runs out. Robert turns to Sarah for help with his GCSE's after Jack refuses to listen to his concerns.

With some help from Betty and Ollie, Seth finally confronts his attackers and events are finally laid to rest when Angie arrives to arrest the guilty pair. Sarah is planning a day to celebrate Richie's birthday but is upset to learn that he has to go to work. As the custody hearing approaches Kathy agrees to look after the kids for Jack and Sarah. Kathy vows to get them back together at all costs.

It's the morning of the court hearing. Sarah is worried about making a good impression on the judge and Jack is fretting about arrangements for the day. Viv is twirling around the shop as Bob has called and will be arriving today. Seth meets Zak and Sam in the street. They decide to go fishing to work up a thirst. Jack and Sarah are waiting in court, the court welfare officer, Louise Patterson, introduces herself and explains what is going to happen. Chris tells Terry to pick Charity up to take her to a restaurant in Harrogate. Pollard asks Turner if he's registered his bike yet, Pollard offers to help for a price, he has some authentic 1935 plates for £100, Alan thinks he's being ripped off. Marlon asks Chris for a business meeting

Jack is devastated when the court forces him to hand over Victoria to Sarah and emotions run high as the family is torn apart. Charity enjoys a meal with Terry and they really hit it off together. Viv gets dressed up for when Bob comes round to spend the night with her and Seth arrives back at The Woolpack and immediately gets back to work selling poached fish!

Terry tells Chris that Charity can't make a date and promptly takes her out himself! However, when Terry confesses his feelings towards her she makes it more than clear she doesn't feel the same way. Alan worries that Paddy - fuelled by Mandy's behaviour - is turning into an alcoholic. Bernice and Ashley organise their wedding list before Bernice sets off on a holiday to Sorrento.

Chris finds out about Terry's amorous behaviour from Charity - subsequently Chris gives him his marching orders. Ollie is infatuated with Cain and is delighted when he invites her to Blackpool with him. She tells Angie she going with some school friends in order to get her to agree.

Angie is furious when she finds out about Cain and Ollie and warns Cain to stay away from her daughter. Charity attempts to persuade Chris to give Terry his job back and he eventually succumbs. Paddy drowns his sorrows with drink and Terry organises a lad's night in which results in everyone getting excessively drunk.

There is an awkward atmosphere when Paddy has dinner with the Dingles as everyone tries to avoid mentioning his wedding anniversary. Chris skips a Tate Haulage meeting in favour of another secret tryst with Charity where upon they get happily drunk together. Angie is shocked to discover that Ollie was going to go to Blackpool with Cain and warns him off.

Angie is scared out of her wits when Cain appears in the midst of a power cut to talk to her about Ollie. Meanwhile, Gloria makes the most of the darkness and accosts Ashley, telling him she's too scared to walk home alone. Paddy contemplates a wedding anniversary without Mandy and only a bottle of whiskey to lighten his misery.

Paddy is still distraught over his crumbling relationship with Mandy, but realises he is not the only one with problems when Joe reveals his visa has run out and he will have to leave the country. Cain continues to pester Angie and she is forced to change the locks on her house.

Gloria's attempts to win Paddy over end disastrously after she gets drunk and tries to flirt with him. Upon discovering that Eric wants to buy the diner, Marlon considers doing the same - if only he can find the money.

Jason persuades Joe that he should get married so he can stay in the country and between them they decide that Tricia should be the lucky woman. Marlon asks Chris to help fund his investment in the diner and Chris agrees that he will match whatever Marlon can pay.

Tricia agrees to marry Joe to help him stay in the country, but cannot find the right time to tell Marlon. When she's offered money for going ahead with the marriage, she's seizes the opportunity to tell Marlon she has the cash he needs to buy the diner. Meanwhile, Kathy is impressed by Marlon's well-presented business plan and agrees to a joint venture, totally unaware of Chris's involvement!

Richie gets increasingly stressed by life with Sarah and Victoria and flips when the child draws on some of his work files. Marlon is sceptical about Tricia's convenience marriage to Joe, but she assures him he is the one she loves.

Diane's excited about tea at the Sugdens. She gets all dressed up for the dinner and Alan is perplexed as he's planning a mystery day out for Diane tomorrow. The quality of the food isn't a success at dinner, but the atmosphere is at an all-time high when the family food fight. Diane and Jack end up in the bedroom, and Diane suggests making this a regular thing. Jason tells Tricia that Joe's visa runs out in December so they have to get married as soon as possible and suggests Marlon gives her away, much to Marlon's displeasure. Robert's down in the dumps. He confides in Angie that he feels like an outsider at the farm and feels as if Sarah doesn't love him anymore because she left them. Richie and Sarah reconcile after their differences. Sarah suggests they get a baby sitter and go out tomorrow night. Seth tells Edna that their horse won, she's won £220.

Alan surprises Diane with a ride on a Harley Davidson but the day turns sour when her ex-husband Rodney resurfaces. When a gold trinket belonging to Lady Tara goes missing, suspicion falls upon Frankie.

Tara questions Scott and Frankie over her missing gold trinket, but soon realises that Cain is the most likely culprit. Meanwhile, Cain is delighted when he thinks he has got a job lot of food tins but his mood quickly turns to disappointment when he discovers they are full of cat food!

When Angie finds Tara's stolen trinket in her bread bin she realises that despite changing her locks, Cain has somehow managed to get in. Meanwhile, Cain manages sells a bulk load of cat food to Seth, who opens it only to discover it is spaghetti and rice pudding!

Angie gets her revenge on Cain when an armed robbery takes place in Hotten and suspicion falls upon him. CID investigates whereupon Sam tries to unburden himself over the stolen food tins! Jason and Joe's attempts to cheer Paddy up are rebuffed after he lays into them for redecorating his house.

Bob is preparing to leave and gives Viv some sexy lingerie as a going-away present, while Sam is about to drop a bombshell - he is also about to leave Emmerdale! Adam muddles his arrangements to give a talk to schoolchildren by going to the wrong venue.

Paddy is slowly getting over splitting up with Mandy but while he apologises for his recent behaviour, he still refuses to redecorate his house and truly move on. Ashley has second thoughts about contacting Bernice's father Rodney but Emily reassures him he has done the right thing.

Viv breaks it to the family that she has decided to ask Bob to move in. Donna's confused about the upcoming change while Kelly thinks she's jumping the gun. As the day of Bernice's return draws nearer, Rodney begins to get nervous. Diane goes to visit Jack to cheer herself up, but she has more plans up her sleeve when the pair end up making love in the haystack! Zak tells Paddy that despite everything that's happened between him and Mandy, he will always be a Dingle in his eyes. Diane is still reeling from Ashley's plan. She furiously confronts him and reassures him that Bernice will not be pleased about meeting Rodney. Ashley reluctantly agrees. When Bob finally arrives, Viv prompts him and Kelly to go over to The Woolpack. However, the night ends in tatters when Viv catches Kelly trying to make a pass on Bob and viciously outs her in front of the whole pub before smacking her and throwing her out.

Bernice gets the shock of her life when she returns home from Sorrento and comes face-to-face with the father she has not seen since she was five-years-old. Marc and Donna get carried away by the physical side of their relationship and are left feeling shocked and confused by their actions.

Bernice is left confused by the sudden re-emergence of her father and demands that he leave. On Diane's arrival an almighty row ensues which culminates with Bernice ordering her mother to leave. While Donna is left confused after her night of passion with Marc he is clearly far from confused when he boasts about it to Marlon.

Ashley is forced to accept that his idea to re-unite Bernice with her father has backfired when she gives him back her engagement ring and declares their relationship over. Richie finds himself torn between his career and Sarah when Chris offers him the chance to increase his investment in Tate Technology. Donna is still in shock after sleeping with Marc and worries that she might be pregnant.

Richie turns down Chris's offer of further investment in Tate Technology but when Sarah finds out she hits back by telling him she does not need his sacrifice. There are more shocks in store for Bernice when she discovers from her father that, unbeknown to her, she has a sister!

Jack's struggle with his finances are not helped by Sarah when she visits to discuss the divorce and demands half the farm! Illicit passions rise between Sean and Tara while Angie and Cain's relationship takes an amorous twist.

Sean falls for Tara and is initially delighted when she takes him to a dinner party, only to later find the other guests less than amenable. Angie answers a police call out concerning a robbery and visits a darkened house only to find Cain there. Tricia and Joe set about creating a bogus past so their convenience wedding is not discovered by the authorities.

Angie suggests to Sean that they go on holiday but later confides to Sarah that Cain is the man she is really interested in. Sarah resolves to regain her independence and starts job hunting, leaving Richie feeling excluded and resentful.

Alan is livid when he discovers Tricia's plans to have a convenience marriage with Joe. When Sean and Angie come face-to-face with Cain and Lady Tara in the pub, an uncomfortable atmosphere ensues. Jack is concerned that he made introduced cattle suffering from TB into the herd.

Edna threatens to expose Tricia and Joe's marriage as a sham, but they manage to blackmail her into keeping quiet. Cain is stood up by Angie who proclaims she wants nothing more to do with him. A surprise birthday party for Seth results in an unexpected blunder.

Jack apologises to Andy for the way he shouted at him last night. Robert wants to stay with Kathy for a while, but Kathy thinks he'd better off at home. The police have a word with Frankie about Gloria's watch. Frankie doesn't think that Zoe believes her innocence. Bernice refuses to lie and say that Tricia and Joe lived as a couple together at The Woolpack before they got married. Kathy also heatedly refuses when they ask her, but Paddy and Zoe are more sympathetic and agree to say that they lived at Smithy. Kathy tells Sarah that she needs to play mother more. Chris invites Charity over for the evening for a treat. He's bought loads of fancy clothes for her try on for him. Frankie confronts Gloria. She warns that her that if she lying, she will get her for it. Virginia nearly catches Sean and Tara in the act, but Tara says she thinks Sean wants a private word, he starts to worry that Virginia knows about them.

Jack and Diane argue about Victoria being left alone and Diane assures Jack that she is on his side. Richie and Sarah also argue about Victoria being left on her own. Richie tells Sarah that she is a bitch. Full of rage, she tells him to get out. At Home Farm, Chris wants a problem with his computer sorted out, but Richie is in a world of his own. Chris at first seems sympathetic but then tells Richie that if his concentration is dwindling because of a row with Sarah, he doesn't want to hear about it. Bernice asks Diane what is wrong and, irritated over her mother's dodging of the issue, twigs that she is in love with Jack. Sarah takes Victoria to Angie's, leaving Victoria to play with Ollie.

Robert and Andy are in the hospital waiting room, the doctor says to the policeman to see if they have any family that he can contact because the boys are going to need somebody; Jack is in a hospital bed coughing; Richie is crying in his hospital bed, he frantically presses his call button; in the Woolpack, Diane is asking Bernice if she has heard anything from Rodney, Bernice asks her why the sudden interest; Jonny finds out that Marc has slept with Donna; Bernice tells Carlos that she is still in contact with Rodney but she doesn't want to tell Diane, she talks to Carlos about how having a half-sister changes everything; the doctor comes in to see Jack, Jack knows that Sarah is dead, no-one has told the boys yet, the doctor tells Jack that Kathy is on her way over and that she can tell the boys,

According to forensics, the police find out that the fire was started deliberately. Richie's mum is horrified to discover that Richie was living with a 48-year-old woman. Andy's scared when he arrives at the hospital with the family and Kathy, and DC Brundel and DCI Harvey wish to talk to them. Jack breaks the news to Victoria that Sarah is dead. Andy tells DCI Harvey that he was in his bedroom when the fire started and Robert inadvertently provides him with an alibi. Jack storms into Richie's hospital room and accuses him of starting the fire, he puts his hands around Richie's neck and Denise calls out for help. DCI Harvey comes in and grabs Jack off Richie.

The police continue to quiz Jack about his involvement with the fire and their suspicions increase when petrol is found on his clothes. Carol flirts with Scott and then decided to make a move on Terry.

After Jennifer is given the brush off by Carlos, Bernice begins to make a move on him. She later confronts Diane, worried that her ardent defence of Jack will only serve to highlight Diane's secret affair with him. After Carol spends the night with Terry, an uneasy atmosphere follows in the Windsor household.

Richie continues to imply Jack was responsible for the fire and Jack is left devastated after it is revealed that Sarah was on her way to ask him to take her back before she was killed. Meanwhile, Carlos hatches a plan to bring Bernice and Ashley back together.

The Sugden family are torn. Jack's struggling to keep it together and Robert's out for revenge. Adamant that Richie's to blame for his mother's death, he throws a brick through one of the windows at Pear Tree and attacks Richie in the street before Kathy pulls them apart. Racked with guilt, Andy's forced to confess to Jack that he was the one who set the barn alight. Jack's left stunned but is determined to do whatever he can to cover up for his son by starting to burn all of his clothes. The wedding is back on for Bernice and Ashley, and Bernice is even contemplating inviting Rodney too. After their disastrous night,

Jack is cleaning up outside the barn. Andy wants to tell about starting the fire, but Jack tells him the police will believe the worst and he'll be taken away. Emily asks Lisa about her condition - Lisa says she still doesn't know if she's pregnant. Emily suggests she tell Zak, but Lisa is wary. Zoe tells Joseph that Frankie is still a friend, but is no longer a part of their lives. Chris makes his usual sarcastic comments. Zoe plans a family dinner with Chris and Joseph. Zak asks Cain if he's going to be bringing any money in. Cain asks about using Lisa's van, but Zak says to ask Lisa. A dog finds a pair of gloves and brings them back to its owner.

When Zak finds Cain moving some of Sam's things from the house a violent outburst ensues. Marlon makes an excuse not to attend Tricia's wedding in an effort to conceal his true feelings for her.

Today is Cain's birthday, but Cain is clearly not in the best of moods to celebrate. He is especially not pleased when Shadrach arrives. Later, when a drunk Shadrach tries to pounce on Emily, Zak and Cain realise he's stolen all the birthday liquor; Shadrach and Cain nearly come to blows, but they are interrupted by the arrival of Cain's mother Faith. At dinner, Cain says he's had enough and storms off. After Lisa has gone to bed and Shadrach has passed out, Zak and Faith are left sitting together. After revealing that she married Shadrach because she got pregnant, she admits to Zak that Shadrach is not Cain's father - he is.

Mayhem runs rife as Tricia prepares for her wedding and Marlon prepares for the opening of his new restaurant. Chris and Charity enjoy and intimate moment and Lisa is surprised by how well Zak and Cain appear to be getting along.

Zoe demands that Chris end his seedy little affair with Charity. He's livid when she discusses his private life in front of Joseph. Zoe's disgusted to find out that he pays Charity for services rendered. She orders him to end it or she'll throw him out. In return, Chris blackmails her by saying that if he leaves he'll take Joseph with him. The wedding looms for Tricia and Joe with only one more day to go. Jason's gutted to be told by Paddy that he can't go as the service will remind him of Mandy. Angie confides in Ollie that she's really missing Sarah

It's the day of the wedding and Marlon's preparations for his new restaurant are marred by the fact that Tricia, the women he loves, is marrying another man. When he sees her in her wedding dress, his emotions finally come to a crux.

Tricia's wedding day continues and Marlon's attempts to make his restaurant a success experience difficulties. Despite this, he remains pre-occupied that he is potentially letting the women he loves marry someone else.

An uncomfortable dinner ensues after Angie arrives home early and demands her husband Sean take her out. Blissfully unaware that he has just slept with Tara! The evening takes another turn for the worse - when they arrive at Marlon's restaurant they to find Tara, Chris and Zoe are also there.

Tara is not happy with Sean for standing her up and has a seek of revenge up her sleeve. She calls the police regarding safety issues at Oakwell Hall and specifically asks for Angie to discuss the matter. Sean is furious and goes to confront Tara. However, their fight is overcome with bliss and their soon back into each other's arms. Friction erupts between Zoe and Charity regarding Chris's and Charity's arrangement, and a discursive meeting turns into a shouting match when Charity refuses to back down.

It's Chris's birthday. Zoe and Chris disagree over lunch or dinner to celebrate. In the end they agree to have lunch at Chez Marlon. Chris picks up the phone to make a call.

Charity is forced to seek asylum at Home Farm when Cain overhears Emily questioning her about what she saw. Meanwhile, Chris and Terry ready themselves for Cain's wrath but the police arrive just in time to stop him.

There's a bad atmosphere in the Tate household when Zoe refuses to live in the same house as a prostitute. In the Dingle household, Emily is on edge and Zak and Lisa wonder where Cain and Charity are. Forcing Emily to confess that she saw severe friction between the pair. Cain is brought home by Angie, where her feelings for him are rekindled for him. Cain delivers the news to Zak that Charity has been making a fortune from supplying Chris's pleasures. Lisa's frightful, she's scared of what Cain is capable of.

Tensions run high as everyone gathers for Sarah's funeral and when Jack arrives handcuffed to a prison officer, Andy suffers a moral dilemma over whether he should reveal the truth about his father's wrongful arrest and admit that he was responsible for the fire that killed Sarah.

Jack's missing the kids and his cellmate Harry Thompson is, fortunately, an understanding shoulder for him to cry on. Jack arranges for the family to come and visit. Andy criticises Robert for not helping out on the farm and the boys end up in a slanging match until Kathy calms it down. During the visit, Kathy and the boys try to remain optimistic. Jack asks for a minute alone with Andy where he makes him promise to keep quiet. Later on, Jack is distraught after the visit. He attacks Harry and starts to go insane. Zak's decided to tell Cain that he's his father. Chris and Charity are the main gossip in the village.

Angie and Sean row about the fact that Sean has no time for Angie. Sean's convinced that she knows about him and Lady Tara. After sleeping with Tara, he's adamant that he's going to tell Angie the truth. Later on that night, Sean and Angie discuss their marital problems. Sean's building up to tell her about Tara, when Angie confesses to having feelings for another man. Sean's furious but decides to keep quiet about his affair. Cain talks to Zoe about Joseph in a threatening manner. Zoe's worried and tells Ashley she won't be able to go to the wedding. In The Woolpack, Chris cheeks Cain

Sean is awake early thinking. Angie comes downstairs. She apologises to him. He says that she was brave to tell him. They decide to spend the day out on the road together. Angie goes to phone work to say she is sick. In the Windsor household, Viv asks Donna why she didn't tell her about the school sky trip. Donna says that she knew they wouldn't be able to afford it. Carol goes on about when she used to go skiing and says that Donna must go. Viv agrees that if there are spaces left she can go. It his Marc's birthday. He comes down for breakfast. His mum, dad and sister are there to wish him happy birthday

A drunken party reaches a shocking crescendo when Viv asks Bob to move in with her. Meanwhile, Marc and Ollie try and cover up a party of their own and it looks like Sean is prepared to turn a blind eye until he discovers Lady Tara has been in the house!

Sean is alarmed to find a pile of Christmas presents from Lady Tara on the doorstep and speculates over what they will contain. Angie is concerned to see Sean and Cain talking together and worries that her husband may find out about her feelings for the latter.

Kathy does her uttermost to cheer Andy up in the aftermath of Jack's wrongful imprisonment and suggests a game of Monopoly, but the mood turns sour when Andy ends up in jail! Bernice lets Rodney place doubts in her mind over whether Ashley is really the man for her.

Bernice and Diane are in the bedroom preparing for the wedding. Bernice is wondering if her father will come to the wedding, and if the wedding will go smoothly. Ashley and Carlos are at the vicarage. Ashley is saying how special Bernice is. Carlos looks sad but agrees. Paddy, Jason and Joe are at Paddy's cottage opening Christmas presents. Jason and Joe have bought each other the same jumper. Paddy agrees to go to the Woolpack. Tricia and Marlon are opening presents at Victoria Cottage. Marlon is getting dressed for work.

Bernice and Ashley reflect on the success of their wedding but after Rodney receives some harsh criticism for his negative attitude he announces he will be leaving Emmerdale. A romantic day between Bev and Adam is disrupted by an emergency call-out.

Controversy arises over the Joe and Tricia convenience marriage and Tricia is forced to justify themselves to Paddy's mother, Barbara who arrives to visit and sees Marlon and Tricia kissing! Adam's relationship with Bev suffers unforeseen turmoil.

Tricia, Joe and Marlon panic when they think an immigration inspector has arrived to check Joe's marriage is not a scam but they later discover he is a Public Health Inspector and is less than impressed with the state of Marlon's kitchen!
