Oh, I very much enjoyed this episode. The last was alright, but this felt like a full immersion, back into the Whoniverse with The Doctor and Donna. Welcome back!
The knife and the lighter had a battle, and the lighter won this round.
BEST chest rattling laughter I've had in ages! This episode is all laughter and tears, and the new characters are GREAT! Feels like they've always been a part of the show.
Big nerd fest! I love it!
Good episode, and a great season.
Locarno really did look just like Tom Paris, even sounded like him too. Its so very, very, uncanny. LOLOLOL!!!
Boring and pretentious. It's not quite John Cage's 4′33″, but close enough.
It is a beautiful and heartbreaking limited series about the weaknesses and strengths of the fictional Thornfield women (and about the power and resilience of women in general).
...and in the end, her heart was full.
Most difficult episode of the series.
It's so easy to judge from the outside what we think someone should have done, but we forget that humans are flawed creatures and decisions are hard, especially when it comes to the matters of the heart.
Great heart to Hart in this one. Candy's story was clear from the start, but the way it unfolded was well done.
Also, the symbolism of the tree gets me every time. The craftsmanship is beautiful - particularly meaningful with that crack through the heart of it, and in the way it resembles the figureheads on the bows of ships.
7/10 - some minor pacing issues, but solid story development.
As heartbreaking as this show is, it's a damned good watch, and I'm thoroughly entertained.
We've not had the reveal yet, but I suspect June's "Robin Hood" was a robber of virtue, and he took much of her ability to trust when he raped her, and again when Clem cut her out of his life, and again when he turned out to be an abuser like his father.
Understandably, her trauma feels like justification for her decisions, but it would be a gross understatement to call it problematic to make decisions for someone else without their knowledge or consent.
Thorns and weeds amidst the flowers. Hopefully, it will be a cathartic conclusion.
Best episode thus far! Slow pacing is established at this point, but it's appropriate for this type of drama, building tension and release. Coupled with the brilliant sound design, each scene feels like breathing.
The actors are WORKING! Even the kids are great.
10/10
Shocker! Didn't see that one coming. We'll played.
A little slow to start, but curious enough to pull you back in for more.
Brilliant set and costume design, but the story doesn't justify that lengthy runtime. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari remains my top pick for this genre.
6/10 - for the aesthetic and for inspiring many contemporary works.
Flawless! Superb conclusion!
10/10 for the usher of vengeance, the spectacular Fury Verna/the Raven!
Frauderick, that covert psycho, was the worst of the lot, imo. He totally got his just deserts.
Good episode, with the balance of high tension and action culminating in a brief moment of peace, this is excellent structure. Also, Laurent is great, just great, really. He's that wonderfully sweet child you absolutely love, but simultaneously want to strangle.
The end of this one was a promise for big things in season 2, and I cannot wait.
Verna (Carla Gugino), is the crack that divides the Usher house (literally and figuratively), she's the drug, the dragon that drives Roddy and his progeny to self destructive madness, she's the raven, the black cat, the harbinger of destiny... and all of the karmic retribution that befalls this family.
Also, love, love, LOVE that T'Nia Miller always bringing her A game! She absolutely kills in this episode! wink

"Never waste your time on guilt and shame, as their alchemy is a savage cross to bare." - Roderick Usher
A damn good line!
9/10
Absolutely loving this Poe tribute series! They're all great, but I can't get enough of Carla Gugino's acting, she makes a splendid "dragon" for Roderick.
That was quite the "post mainframe, acid, Cardassian, Ten Forward, core" trip!
OH MY!
7/10 - for lacking real story in this one, yet still adequately conveying the Trek theme of loving and living bold.
First thought: Oooh, Flanagan and this cast and crew, and Edgar Allan Poe, and disgusting twin things and monstrous family drama in the Intrepid multiverse! This is going to be gooood!
Second thought: Wait, which one is Juno?!
Third and prevailing thought for the remainder of the episode: (after Camille let's slip the age canyon) Noooo, HER?! "THAT'S JUNO?!?! I thought she was one of his daughters! What the fuck was Roderick (and casting) thinking?!!" lololol chokes to death wink
Another winner! Lower Decks continues to impress.
It's always great to hear familiar voices, and Rom (Max Grodènchik) and Leeta (Chase Masterson) were two of my favourites from DS9. The baseball references, the grand nagus staff, the trip to Ferenginar, Quark's name in lights... yeah, this episode was extra special. I like this Staff Writer Ben Waller guy. :)
Great episode!
We get closer to revelation about our mystery murder ship, betazoid hijinks, and confirmation that T'Lyn is 100% Vulcan as a motherfucker. :vulcan_salute_tone4: LOL, smashing good time!
Amazing finale!!! I could cry! In fact, I did, a few times (don't judge me, lol!).
To be so connected, rooted, interwoven, bonded, intertwined with one another - oh my goodness! THAT is what life is about. Even though Ishamael woke the other dark ones, it's obvious they'll fail because they're not unified. Moiraine told us as much when she said to Lan, "...they're always fighting." Aaaaaand now our lightbringers have the immortal Lanfear on their side too, how could they ever lose?!
The impatient wait is on for the next season because Rafe Judkins and crew chose violence with that jaw-dropping cliffhanger. It's ok though, Season 3 is going to be FANTASTIC (and very likely the final season).
The acting is great, but everything about it is deeply depressing with no upswing in sight. I strongly suggest avoiding this one if you're in a dark place, or if you don't like soul crushing drama.
A few jaw-dropping reveals - Liandrin's constant betrayals are expected at this point, but I never saw THAT other one coming (well done!). And a few promises for the future woven in there ;)
TWoT has hit powerful sixes (a cricket term, ratings are actually more like 7s and 8s) every episode this season. Be still my beating heart! Well, not STILL, but, ya know... gasp
2023 rewatch - I remembered NONE of this! I generally dislike musicals, but this is surprisingly tolerable.
META!!!! All the way down! LOL! All the familiar faces and voices got me in the feels.
This episode is absolutely disgusting, and I love it!
