It seems ironic to have the word ‘Dawn’ in the title of Zack Snyder’s latest superhero epic, given how little light there is the film, both figuratively and literally. There is a lot of moping about, and a perpetual vibe of ‘oh no, this is the end of the world,’ as if Snyder is cribbing from his Dawn of the Dead remake (there’s that word again, dawn, implying a source of light that is tragically absent from any of Snyder’s auteuristic affectations). The iconoclastic treatment of Superman owes much, also, to a previous entry in Snyder’s visually stunning but incoherent oeuvre, Watchmen. The core visual inspiration for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice comes from The Dark Knight Returns comic series by Frank Miller, whose 300 was also turned into a film by Snyder earlier in his career.
Those first three blockbusters by Snyder, Dawn of the Dead, 300 and Watchmen, were all pretty much lifted from existing works of visual storytelling, be they a film or a comic book, and all Snyder had to do was add his intolerable grainy close-ups and slow motion blood splatter. When left to his own devices, we get the incomprehensible Sucker Punch, which is a series of big budget dream sequences distracting from a rather tawdry pastiche of Girl, Interrupted and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest told almost entirely in a paradoxically shiny yet dirty toilet. He also gave us Man of Steel, and rather than use some of the incredible Superman stories already told on screen or in comics, he decided to plough his own trough with phallic spaceships, a Kevin Costner transplanted from Field of Dreams, and a climax cribbed from one of Toho’s Godzilla movies.
In his search for inspirational visuals to jam into the ponderous script for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (yes, I am going to use the entire title every time I reference it, because the unwieldy moniker is a delicious metaphor for this stupidly overblown film) Snyder has become tragically self-referential. There is a scene early in the movie where Amy Adams as Lois Lane slithers around in a bathtub that appears to be in one of the leftover gleaming but grimy bathrooms from Sucker Punch. The titular fight between the heroes takes place in a toilet that is equally grubby, but is only glistening from all the water splashed around. (I’m not even going to begin to examine the homoerotic undertones of two icons of masculinity writhing around in onesies on the floor in a urinal). It’s not just the bathrooms, either, as during the dreary first NINETY MINUTES of the nearly three hour film, there are no action sequences, save for those experienced by Batman when having a nigh nighs; yes, that’s right, a string of big budget dream sequences a la Sucker Punch.
Being a sequel to Man of Steel, it can’t help but borrow the visual language of that film, most notably in the opening sequences where Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne interacts with the human cost of the destructive climax to the previous film. Also, Snyder has another crack at his ‘Superman as Jesus in space’ image, while simultaneously paying homage to one of the more affecting moments from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. It’s this kind of confused layering that hampers much of the film. During one of the many unnecessary dream sequences (which feel like they’ve been jammed in as an ersatz defibrillator to the floundering story) Snyder uses images from Grant Morrison’s Batman 666, Rock of Ages and Final Crisis stories as well as nods to Crisis on Infinite Earths (Wolfman/Perez), the New 52 Justice League (Johns/Lee) and the video game Injustice.
The now-ubiquitous Batman origin gets yet another airing, Snyder’s over-graded, CGI treatment of it reminding me more of the risible TV show Gotham than Nolan’s or Miller’s understated efforts. The overuse of these reliable, and in some cases very worn, elements gives the whole film a sense of deja vu, and over the unnecessarily long running time, you start to wonder if you haven’t seen this film already. There is an explosion taken from Emmerich’s Independence Day; Eisenberg’s hammy performance as Luthor could be any twitchy genius villain in any number of cheaper films; the CGI monster at the end looks like it has been pasted in from Jackson’s Lord of the Rings or Letterier’s Incredible Hulk; the excruciating capital-D dramatic dialogue in the script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer is painfully reminiscent of Ang Lee’s Hulk; and all of this added to the fact that there is little of the film that wasn’t shown on the internet in the desperate marketing push, means you probably HAVE seen it all before. In fact, the only scenes in the film not aired in a trailer or on a talk show are the scenes of the fight between Batman and Superman, which also isn’t a surprise, because THAT’S THE TITLE OF THE MOVIE. Although, they did wrong-foot me a little with the title, because there’s no dawn, and there’s no justice. If there was, Zack Snyder would not be allowed to make movies.
This Movie was Not Wack, Crap or Shitty.. It was very good
A few mishaps.. They rushed Wonder Woman's introduction.
I wasn't Satisfied with the plot and they only gave doomsday a cameo.
Other than that great movie to watch
this movie is very ugly but eisemberg had a great performance
I'm lost for words. i don't know who to blame for this shitty movie. Zack Synder, Chris Terrio, or David Goyer?
The only exciting part about this movie was the fight scene between Batman and Superman, everything else was crap.
What a boring piece of crap. What a waste. Awful. if you wanna see Cavill be awesome watch mi6.
This movie is just nonsense! Too bad to see two major superheroes wasted for such... thing! It lacks of integrity, the plot is inconsistent!
Good to see two of the superhero character that everyone admires of fighting eachother futility. Martha scene was a trash even tho execution was kinda good. Movie depicts a lot of emotions together like altogether that literally confuses sometimes even make the audience bored but indeed gotta say the fight scene was impeccable!. And climax I sorta felt like director had no idea of ending this movie and he just messed up!.
Good but high propensity to feel the lag but c'mon it's Snyder's movie !!!!.
Well I think this isn't a good movie even though it has a couple of good moments (including Jesse Eisenbergs performance as Lex Luthor) . However, it is not bad as its reputation. I cannot see why this movie is rated so bad while all those Avengers movies are stated to be good.
The beginning was way to long and the ending unsatisfying. However, the action sequences make up for a lot!
Nowhere near Nolan's Trilogy but watching the movie wasn't a waste of time, either. On the other hand I'm probably not going to watch it again...
The best thing about this movie was the 7 minutes of Wonder Woman. Like MAN OF STEEL the storytelling was choppy and unfocused - lots of hints of what was to come but no compelling story. The premise of Batman versus Superman is just idiotic, the fight scenes gratuitous, and the bleak tone of the whole movie just alienated the viewer. I can only give it a 6 (fair) out of 10. Thank heavens for WONDER WOMAN - if they learned some story telling lessons from her movie then there is hope for JUSTICE LEAGUE. If they just shove a whole bunch of elements in the pot without a cohesive narrative, some human exchange and some character lightness, then I think the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) is in deep trouble. [Superhero, Action, Adventure]
Martha!
Now since that is out of the way, I kinda liked this more than I remembered. I think I'm going to bump it up from a 6 to 7. I saw the original cut in theaters and I saw the Ultimate edition as soon as it came out and it didn't really change my opinion on the movie. Now that I've had a year to forget about it and I'm getting ready for Justice League I'm starting to think this movie is alright. Now I'm not saying it is great but it can be entertaining. There are so many small things that are wrong with the movie that keep it back from being one of the better superhero movies. Lex Luther still sucks. I really wish they would of cast Bryan Cranston and gone a different direction with Lex. It was so lazy to introduce all the other heros with 30 second clips. Snyder couldn't think of any way better. Come on I mean the subtitle is called "Dawn of Justice". Wonder Woman is great but I forgot how small a role she has in this movie. Luckily she has her own movie to shine. Also Batman's line "I thought she was with you" has got to be one of the stupidest lines. HE LITERALLY EMAILED HER LIKE 2 HOURS AGO.
+1 for Wonder Woman :)
-1 for missing logic in the plot
-1 for damn moral relativism. Good is good and bad is bad. 10 commandment (The ORIGINAL!) says what is good and what no.
This movie doesn't really make me like Batman all that much. But man am I ready to watch Wonder Woman tomorrow.
Most people that love all things super will not be sad to see this one go dusty one the shelf. Bad, acting, writing, and plot. what's left you ask? Just another badly thought of mash up that left most people dum founded. How could you mess this one up so badly.
I thought it was pretty good. Don't understand all the hate. It was too long, and Eisenberg was miscast, but other than that I enjoyed it. Waaaay better than Suicide Squad.
As I write this review I have just had a thoroughly disappointing movie experience and it so just happens that I have some strong feelings about the source material for this movie so be prepared for a bit of ranting and a few more “adult” words than usual.
I have to say that I bought this movie only because I felt I wanted it in my collection just for it to be complete. I was really expecting to be, shall we say, not impressed. A movie about Batman and Superman, heroes that I grew up with, fighting is not my kind of movie.
In the end I realized that my expectations of crappines was not enough. I really disliked this movie. In short succession this movie turns several of my childhood heroes to bad guys and the greatest superman bad guy into a unstable hippie-like jerk that goes through the movie behaving like he is a drug addict. So basically this movie went drown the drains for me straight away and then I have not even gotten started about the plot. Actually I felt so annoyed over this crap that I actually spent time taking notes while I was watching.
Let me see what I noted. Lex Luther is a fucking joke. Alfred, the same. Jimmy Olsen a fucking CIA agent? You got to be fucking kidding me! And not only does he screw Lois Lane but gets himself shot after a few seconds of screen time.
Same stupid nonsense about XXX being too powerful, is a threat and needs to be government controlled that has been used in hundreds. if not thousands, of crappy low and high budget action movies. I hate that crap. It is stupid, stupid, stupid.
Weird and totally uninteresting dream scenes, what the fuck did the writer smoke? If they wanted to pad the movie it a) was a crappy way of doing it and b) why? With over three hours (Ultimate Edition) it is way too long for such a crappy movie anyway.
Oh, here is a (somewhat) positive note at least. It was indeed rather funny that they had chosen CNN to spew out the nonsense conspiracy theories about Superman being responsible for the bomb in the wheelchair. Fake news anyone?
I had a little bit of enjoyment of the movie during the last part of the movie when it finally turned into a bit of action. Batman’s car and plane was cool. The action, once Batman getting knocked on his head enough to get to his senses again, was a nice chunk of CGI goodness. That I have to admit.
Okay, after three, mostly painful, hours the movie finally comes to an end. And what an end. Meh!!! Not only was it a crappy ending but they managed to drag it out forever with excruciatingly boring scenes.
I am sure a lot of the above can be said to be subjective. For instance my dislike of the way my childhood characters where treated. I am not a professional reviewer though so this is my personal take of the movie. If you don’t like it, fine with me and good for you but do not feel obliged to tell me about it.
I almost expected some corny 80's music as Bruce works out hard to get ready to fight Superman. Besides isn't training hard to face Superman just stupid ?
I don't know what I just watched
The film DC heads like to call a masterpiece. I wish it was but how can it be when all the same flaws are still in it. Except now, Jimmy Olsen who Sueprman would save in anything else is killed in the beginning.
Of course though, he saves Lois like 3 times. Plus Superman is supposed to be almost as fast as the Flash. Yet, he just sits there and broods as a court room full of people blows up around him. If Lois was there would he have saved her ? Yes!
While Jesse Eisenberg gives a douche performance as Lex Luther where he's half Carrey's Riddler and he also wants to be Ledger's Joker. The scene where Martha Kent is taken by Lex. Feels straight out of Dark Knight too.
You also have weird dream sequences just thrown in. As well Clark climbing a mountain to have a weird conversation with Jonathan Kent. This movie is a depressing mess either way. DC heads get mad when you say it's too dark. Well by that I mean depressing and not entertaining enough in any version!
nice movie but little bit disappointed it was to long and the sence were to long and Milked out(dutch expression).
Tao bom!
8/10 Muito Bom
This is hard... For the first time in my life I didn't like a superheroes movie. Thanks God I didn't go to the cinema to watch it. A lot of time just to watch a few minutes of real fighting, what of course weren't enought. Batman's argument was really bad. Good actors but really bad writing. YOU CAN'T KILL SUPERMAN, YOU ASS HOLES. The only good thing in the movie are the actors (Henry and Gal were a pleasure for the eyes).
A lot of disrespectfully for a movie.
See you in hell.
I was surprised how dark this movie was. I mean, I liked it, a lot, but it was pretty dark.
what did I just watch? at least the extended version has some story in it, although not very coherent. Eisenberg must be the worst Lex ever. He looks like Joker and makes Lex a ridicule.
maybe a two parts shold be better... i don't like the movie
I saw this movie on April 2016 and at that moment, as many others, thought that was an incomplete film with a lot of action but little explanation and little sense for a lot of things. Today I've seen the extended version of it and it is the complet version of the film that should have been displayed on cinemas! I won't say that having all the lost pieces of that puzzle makes now this the best movie ever but at least makes sense, it is more enjoyable and for me, at least, scores an 8.
It was the funniest movie of my life!
The movie was shit, but nice image quality and i liked the stylization (same as in latest NFS game btw). Only kinda good character was the Lex. And he even quoted Lolita, and that is always plus point. So in total MEH 5/10.
Also hoist cable cutter for controls of the flying thingy was nice.
The story is a mess, Warner Bros. and clearly Zack does not know how to make proper flim
Way way way too long. This movie was all over the place with the plot.
The fight scene in the end was rather memorable... By far the best part of the movie.
We as a society need to stop giving Jesse Eisenberg chances.
stupidity, stupidity, stupidity, stupidity, stupidity ^4 grade
At three hours it's a long slog, but adds much more character and story development. The cinematic version was a mess, and had so many plot holes.
I don't like Batman killing people, but I do like the plot line of this interpretation of Batman being jaded (although Batman is kinda always jaded). It gives me hope that the standalone Affleck Batman movie will deal with interesting some themes, and explore plot lines not delt with before in Batman films.
I would encourage people to watch the extended version over the former.
Not bad but 3 hours is too long
This is how to ruin a movie!!!!
Wow, after the trailer I wasn´t sure if I should watch this but this was better than the last 5 Marvels (save Deadpool) combined. I was leaning towards giving it a 10 but there is one thing I really hated and that was the stupid monster. Why has it always to be a huge monster to fight ? Yeah, the title is misleading I agree with the comments on the fact there isn´t much of a fight going on between them. But should that be the movie´s biggest flaw I can live with it. Otherwise the dark atmosphere works great and without all those hero worshipping the characters get so much more depth. I hope they can follow that up because this made me want more.
Not only the most stupid Batman ever made, it's probably the dumbest film ever made!
First of all...this is a short review about the extended version of this movie. I never bothered to watch this one in the cinema, so I thought I would go for the version most people think are the better one.
So...what do I think?
Well...
Batman v Superman is not really very good. It's not horrendously bad, but it didn't really keep me interested. Especially the parts with Superman seemed misplaced somehow, and there are some stupid, illogical turns that threw me off somewhat.
I have no idea why, but Henry Cavills Superman is NOT my cup of tea. Don't like it...
Ben Affleck as Batman (which I thought I was going to hate) was actually quite good. Affleck actually pulled off being dark and moody. Who knew?
The rest of the cast was so and so. Eisenberg as Luthor was just a bit off. Gadot as Wonder Woman was ok, but mainly there to set things up for the next movie. And Jeremy Irons as Alfred? Well...that one was actually one of the things that were great about this movie.
The story in itself is not that bad, but there are some questionable turns that made no sense...even for a superhero movie. The effects seemed a bit cheap, but things actually improved towards the climax.
Would I watch it again? Not very likely...
Would I recommend other people to watch it? Hmm...probably not unless the person in question is an avid superhero fan.
This movie is so dumb. The "fight" between B and S is ridiculous, Lex is so overactet and these Martha- scene is a insult for each fan.
As someone who is not entirely familiar with the DC universe this was a very confusing and packed movie. Sadly the characters made decisions where you think "I'd never be that stupid" which made me throw the entire plot out of the window. Visually, spectacular. The portrayal of the characters was also amazing. Especially loved Lex.
I think it'll be a good film for the fans. For the not-fans, go in expecting a superhero-filled action movie where the story doesn't make much sense.
Pretty decent movie, but not as good as Man of Steel. Too many story to cover in 3 hours, they should've done the first half as a Batman standalone film, then the second half as BvS.
Still gotta sleep but want to warh batnan vs. superman!
Waste of time. Worst Batman actor ever.
And the plot is boring as hell.
I don't know what made me think I'd hate this less on video. Instead it just amplifies everything wrong with this clunker. I just gotta move on man, ya know?
Well that was a surprise, really fun movie. There were so many things I was unsure of before seeing but it ties together nicely. The characters were really good, Affleck makes a good Batman with a decent Bat-Voice, Gal Godot, well she's just perfect, Eisenberg yeah, great. Forget the fanboi's and the haters, just sit back, relax and enjoy.
This wasn't a terrible Batman/Superman movie, but it wasn't great, either.
In particular, Jesse Eisenberg was a terrible pick for Lex Luthor. He played it exactly the same as he played Mark Zuckerberg. It really was basically the same character.
just interested in some clue that leading to the next story.
When I was a kid, I still remember the first time I read Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns". As a child whose idea of Superman & Batman was Christopher Reeve & Adam West, it was a revelation. Dark, brooding and so far removed from the movie and TV versions of these characters, yet so much more interesting for it. I remember dreaming of a movie version of Frank Miller's Batman & Superman.
This is why it was so surprising to me that when this film was announced, I wasn't more excited about it - here finally was "The Dark Knight Returns" adapted for the screen. The problem, was that I had watched 'Man of Steel' and wasn't enamoured with Snyder's vision - I felt that while that movie had had the potential to be good (the trailer's had made it look awesome!) it had failed to deliver on the fun - it just wasn't as fun as a Superman film should be. Nolan's Batman films were FUN, although the first one was a little weak, The Dark Knight found the perfect formula and ran with it. Dark and brooding, yes, but with humour and fun too. I never felt the fun with the Man of Steel - we're talking about a flying alien here! - and It was with this feeling that I sat down to watch Batman vs Superman.
It's worth noting here that I watched the Ultimate Edition at home - I never saw the theatrical cut that everyone had hated so much - but its safe to say my expectations weren't high. Having watched it, I am pleased to be able to say that it I actually enjoyed it way more than I expected, and it was not the complete train-wreck I feared. My conclusion is that it still lacks a sense of fun, and takes itself too seriously, but SOMEWHERE on the editing room floor is an absolutely AMAZING film. With the right editing this could have been something incredible. I've always felt that Snyder's films tend to be all style but no substance. While he has definitely matured in his ability to create multi-dimensional characters he still has a way to go. The whole Martha coincidence was just terrible writing, but that being said, there was actually a lot to like here (Ben Affleck makes a great Miller Batman. He nailed it.
Pure spectacle, although dark and gloomy.
I might have missed out but after the first 45 min of the movie I turned it off. It felt as if they started about three different stories, the one from Batman, the one from Superman and they threw in Lex Luthor (who was actually the only good thing I found in those first 45 min) I still feel like Ben Affleck is just not right for the part of Bruce/Batman. I was bored throughout all of the Superman scenes and the stories didn't seem to connect, maybe they were going to a bit later but the first 45 min of this movie needed to grab me not bore me. I felt like falling asleep so I turned it off. What I did like was the CGI, they obviously went all out when they blew up those first buildings and as I said Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, he caught my attention, sadly not long enough.
I love the batman movies, never much cared for Superman but this was a total let down to the previous Batman magic.
The Batman character seems a bit secondary in this film. The whole plot is based on Superman, Krypton and Lane. Good CGI effects but poor story.
wtf even was this long ass movie????
This movie was actually only meh for me. Probably because it involved two heroes I don't really care much for. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was great. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is great. They tried to do too much with this movie and to set things up for the future movies that it was really a bit of an incoherent mess. TBH this movie really just hyped me for the upcoming movies about the metahumans shown in the movie.
This movie is SO DAMN DEPRESSING, Batman was never cheerful but they have DESTROYED Superman's character, and Lex Luthor is just too much "Jokerish" crazy, not the cold evil mastermind he should be. I will be enjoying Marvel movies so much more now, at least they are FUN.
They killed Superman. Don't let this movie ruin your day.
I honestly didn't understand this movie.
Batman has some feud with Super, just cause he's an alien, and also he's pissed off on the rest of the world.
This causes him to take revenge on everything, including said SM, with all hell a against him.
As you know, at some point they make up - for the stupidest reason ever!!! - and turn on the mighty Lex.
Affleck's acting wasn't as bad as they say - it's he's character that lacked proper motivation for it's doings, and relatively not so many lines.
Jesse Isenberg did quite a good job with the material he got, so thumb up here.
The rest - fine.
Over all - many things about nothing. Ult edition is too long.
Fine. 6/10.
Absolute rubbish. Where's the 'v' - Batman fought Superman for less than 5 minutes in the whole movie. Was there even a story?
Is extended version availabe on this build?
Is the extended version on here?
Damning with faint praise, but not nearly as bad as I'd feared
Muito Bom,Louco e Imaginário,Superman Dead???
Though one to get through: to long, very slow start, and way to boring. I just don't understand how DC keeps making a mess of it's movies while its animated features are amazing.
Story is overly dark with unexplained connection and mysterious dream sequence. Leveraged too much from video games than comic source and the result is an extreme mess even with the extended edition (3+ hrs in length). Really, Zack, do we need the weighted down and bulky story with zero levity to tell this?
Why would they make such a bad movie. I couldn't force myself to watch more than an hour. Even that was too long.
Stupidest movie ever. I couldn't even force myself to watch more than an hour of this crap.
kinda really boring for the first couple of hours. It is pretty long, the action does not pick up until maybe the last 45 or 30 minutes of the movie. Overall not too bad, it wasn't as good as i thought it would be but it wasn't bad
it's VERY LONG and the plot is quite messy most of the time.
and predictable too.
I went into this movie thinking, ok Jessie Eisenberg, your gonna have to bring something extra special to the table if your gonna be better than Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor....and you know what? shit he did, i really liked his Lex Luthor im not sure if i liked it more than Michael Rosenbaum's i think i would have to see him reprise the role again before i pass that sort of judgment.... maybe? that's all i can i say for now
And the rest of the cast was just perfect, i also had my doubts about Batfleck but i think he is actually the best batman, so far.... he really seems to understand the character's dual persona he gets Bruce Wayne and he gets Batman..... that's all i have to say about that...I also really liked Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman aswell, just perfect casting all around
Plus Henry Cavil and Ben Affleck are soo hot in this movie
Is this the theatrical version or the disc released version with the extra content?
Honestly I start watching this movie quite sceptical, and expecting a really bad one, more likely influenced for the terrible and hurting feeling that Man Of Steel left in my eyes, but I found myself really surprised and entertained today, and I need to come clean, I was wrong because BvS is a good movie, and I enjoyed it.
Still it is not as good as I could expect from these incredible DC characters. But if you had a bad experience with Man Of Steel as well, give it a chance, and I hope DC keeps getting better in their incoming movies, I am willing to see with other eyes Wonder Woman and Justice League.
After an hour and a half gave up, wish I had given up sooner to be honest but I wanted to finish my popcorn. Boring.
Ben as batman he ruined the movie. This movie is terrible.
i don't know what's wrong with everyone bad negative cmns over this movie,i found it amusing and very interesting, can't wait for another installment
Damn I fell asleep when they started punching each other. Not before, when they actually started. Going to try again later.
Anyway why is Mark Zuckerberg playing as lex lutor??
While I don't think it was a bad movie (if you want to see an example of a bad comic book movie just look at Batman & Robin, Ghost Rider 2 or Fant4stic) it wasn't a great movie either, but I enjoyed it. Is it among the best comic book movies ever? Hell no, but it's fun for what it is. I personally give it a 5 because it seems to me that for every good scene there's an equally bad scene with plotlines that either go nowhere or just fall apart.
I think it was OK, but I found the story too boring for eventually going to the climax..
was way too long with too many wide shot scenes just to make heroic apearances. The only real good bit was Batman fighting in the warehouse.
But still, nowhere near as bad as Batman Forever or Batman and Robin
Slow, boring, uninteresting, depressing. But OK, it's DC, so I'll rate above average just for that :)
Not a bad movie whatsoever, but if your a DC fan, I can understand where the hate is coming from. To mix the death of superman story with the inception of the justice league is wrong. Doomsday honestly should have had his own movie. However, if your a general movie fan you are going to like it! The story is neat except for the extended dream sequence which makes no sense. Other than that everyone acted well, even though at first I thought Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was wrong casting. But his scenes are actually really good. Overall, if your a DC fan you may or may not like this but as a general movie goer it's actually a decent movie.
Much better than the reviews I've read. Decide for yourself.
Too 'much' predictable... The best to know finally Wondergirl is gonna get her own movie !
This movie was so BORING! over 2 1/2 hours of plots stolen from good stories and so much acting talent and they could only come up with this! :(
How do you actually view the movie
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Just doesn't get any better than this. This is the Batman I like. I was not on board with either of the previous Batmen. The contrast of the two superheroes was Amazing! Nieve, alien, do gooder vs Seedy, untrusting, earthling. And the Bat did that thang all movie long, amazing. I've never really been a Batman fan, but this one is alright with me... He's just more realistic. I just used the word "realistic" in this review, lol! Supes is still, and will always be my favorite. I love how he is developing into a leader of heroes and learning about his destiny. Ww was... Hmm, put it this way, when she got in gear, she stole the show, period. My favorite line from this movie, "I've kill things from other worlds before", then she leads the team to battle. I've seen this a bunch of times, way more than I cared to watch the X-Men or Avengers movies, which I also liked. One and only problem I had, besides Superman not saving his mother, was the fact that WB didn't stick it to Disney by having Luke Skywalker voicing the Joker somehow... Lol at not talking in Force Awakens. Bottom line, this movie develops it characters, has underlying messages, and the characters actually stand for something, morally, mentally, and socially. Batman is man, we adapt, and we're optimistic, innovative, but yet not in a vacuum, we need help, synergy, I don't want to go on just give a few examples of what I mean. Superman is a metaphor of a way of thinking, ideology... Oh yeah and one last thing anyone else see the Bible belt Urban Republican Vs the rich, Big city Liberal Democrat theme? I just loved this movie!!!
Lex was pure icing on the cake, that good whip cream icing, too. Doesn't it kinda feel as if Lex created Facebook?
It's all Jonathan Kent's fault and the way Clark was raised. Really :) All I will say it could have been much better with a different Jonathan, but that's what we've got here. Alexander (not Lex) Luthor and Wonder Woman are superb here. He does laugh a bit too much at times... but it's mostly ok.
This movie is really a shame of the potential the movie had. All the actors were pretty good and also the sfx were great. However, there are so many things wrong in this movie that I don't know where to start... The story is horrible and the script is very unclear for non fans. There is even a scene were batman destroys his complet suit and the next scene it's a brand new different suit while he was on quite a haste ...
Meh... just meh... I can't get past BatFleck...
Thought it was going to be less of a mess than people had reported but it wasn't, lacked any real direction for me and while well acted the story just didn't gel and seemed aimless. Top marks to Ben A as Batman though, brought a real different but still excellent take on Batman, Gal was good as well though not enough development in this film. Was most disappointed in Henry and Amy's characters, very unlike the portrayals from MoS with very little depth. Overall average, won't be seeing this again.
I really enjoy it, a little bored and slow the first hour but a good movie in general. love lex, batman and wonder woman.
Worse than awful. No substance, just dreadful. A huge waste of almost 2.5 hours. Would have been more entertaining if I'd stuck red hot needles in my eyes.
One of the worst movies ever.
This movie was THE BOMB!!! Loved it!!! It was the best cinematography so far!!! I haven't a clue as to why critics and viewers said it was garbage!! I think they were watching a different movie altogether !!! 10 thumbs up!
Jesse Eisenberg deserves at least a 9....the movie nothing better then a 6....
Liked the movie, hence the 7 I gave.
But it has a LOT of problems.
to name a few.
- Why would superman allow us humans to take possesion of kryptonian ships ?
- Batman is supposed to be a master detective. How come he did not see that he is being manipulated by Lex Luthor.
He knows that Lex is smugling kryptonite. He should be able to understand that he is being manipulated
- Seeing or hearing Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor made my balls shrink
- Why would a kryptonian ship allow a human to be it's master ? Because of only fingerprints ?? Really ?
- Was Martha Kent really working as a waitress ? Doesn't she has a farm ?
- Did we really need to see those pearls fall again ? We know how Batman parents died. Because it is being shown over and over again with every movie or serie that has Batman. We know it already stop it !!
- It's a spear. Why not throw it ?
I liked Ben Affleck as Batman. Also liked the rest of the cast with the exception of Jesse Eisenberg.
Terrible, me and my kids so bored after 1.5 hours we turned it off.
nice movie.....i like it.....
If you want to make a superhero film, there are worse sources to crib from than Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, or the Doomsday arc. If you’re trying to create a film that owns its comic book roots and also aims to make some kind of statement, there are worse directions to go than examining the social and political repercussions of gods and aliens coming to Earth. If you want to add shading to time-honored icons, there are worse ways to do it than to show each of them struggling with the legacies of their parents.
But trying to do this all at once requires a deft hand. Trying to do it with the added requirements of mandatory big-budget action scenes, the launch a new cinematic universe, and having to correct for the perceived missteps of a prior film requires a miracle-worker. If the combination of these elements isn’t mixed just right, then instead of the hoped for depth and complexity, you get a well-meaning, incoherent muddle. That’s what the cumbersomely titled Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is -- a boldly ambitious, hopelessly flawed, overextended mess of a film.
Great movie, especially loved Ben Affleck as Batman, it was like he was pulled straight from the comics.
The fight between Batman and Superman was mindshattering, showing that even a man like Batman (who only has a suit of armor, gadgets & superior martial arts skills) can stand up to one of the most powerful beings in the universe.
Gal Gadot performed amazingly as Wonder Woman, and it was especially refreshing that it was not about her sex appeal but about an amazingly strong woman, and an utter badass!
Plus the small previews of the other Heroes made me excited for the future of the DC Cinematic Universe.
The only downside is that the Green Arrow or the Green Lantern were absent.
Can't wait for the next installment in the DC Cinematic Universe.
The movie was just OK. Too much story and characters being jammed into the time allotted for the movie. Didn't like the portrayal of Lex Luthor in this. I read early rumors during filming that Bryan Cranston was being considered for the role. That choice would have been so much better.
As usual I will be honest.... After not looking forward to and hearing mixed reviews about this I thought I'd give it a go !!
In all honesty its actually not that bad, worked quite well and could make for a good follow up.
Give it a go see what you think.

A complete clusterf**k, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is overstuffed and poorly executed. Still, it's incredibly exciting to see DC's biggest titans going at it. As Superman grows increasingly concerned about the Gotham vigilante known as the Bat, Bruce Wayne trains to take down Superman; having seen his frighteningly destructive power firsthand. And while this main story-arc is solid, there are half a dozen subplots cluttering up the film, making it hard to follow what's going on. Ben Affleck proves to be excellently cast as an older, war-torn Batman, and Gal Gadot does an impressive job as Wonder Woman. Additionally, Zack Snyder’s directing is visually stunning, creating some extraordinary imagery, and the score by Hans Zimmer and Junkie LX is riveting, and brings a lot of tension and suspense to the film. Yet as thrilling and action-packed as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is, it’s constantly tripping over itself.
