Such a great show, what else do u want, superpowers, violence and sex, love it :grinning:
Love this hilariously disturbing show haha
This show really does keep getting better and better.
Relatable and realistic super heroes. Talented and charismatic cast. This is a Great series. Anthony Starr as homelander is an accurate portrayal of modern day superman. Terrifying performance.
We need to do an Anthropologie of this series and the undertone of its message! It is actioned packed and an amazing watch but there are some separatist, neo colonialism, racist, and other bad… very bad messages.. however, good writing and presentation.
Has to be one of the best shows from the last few years, every season has had me in stitches. The dogs bollocks...
This show is so highly regarded and so highly spoken of by a lot of people, and I feel like it's an overreaction. Now, don't get me wrong, this show is entertaining to watch; I feel like every little detail is highly praised by a lot of people. From what I've seen, people make this show out to be much better than it is. Every little detail is brought up as another reason why this show is the best show they've ever watched. It's odd and, well, very ridiculous.
I think that it has to do with the themes in the show, including the way things are written to mirror the real world, as well as more minor details that get people all excited, for some reason, using them as a way to express how great this show is. It doesn't make sense to me. Another thing that I think is one of the reasons that people think makes this show the greatest show they've ever watched is that this show reinvents the superhero genre or something to do with the superhero genre, and I don't understand that.
To me, these reasons seem very shallow. None of those things should matter. None of those things should play a factor in whether or not you enjoy an episode of a show or the show itself; whether or not you think an episode of a show or the show itself is great; the level at which you enjoy an episode of a show or the show itself or think it's great. None of it should matter so much to where you'll not like an episode of a show or the show itself as much as you would've if things like that were present, to where it has such an impact on how you react and feel, and your outlook. When I see people reacting so strongly, positively or negatively, about stuff like that, I think it's ridiculous that they seemingly matter so much to them. Because, for me, it's only a matter of whether I enjoy what I watch.
Speaking of which, another one of those reasons that I've seen people provide as to why they love the show so much is that it's way better than the comic book series was; that they liked various aspects that the show did or made a lot better than the comics did. I can understand that reason, but that still shouldn't elevate the show higher than it is. And I think it does for a lot of people, as does the themes in the show, the way the writers write some things to mirror the real world and on-going situations, the way that this show reinvents the superhero genre or whatever that assertion is all about. I don't understand that way of thinking.
Personally, I enjoy watching this show. There are instances where the writing is lazy, convenient, or contrived; instances of inconsistency. And there are plenty of moments that come across as ridiculous but may not completely fit within any of those categories. But I never had that big of a problem with them. There were only a few that I caught, and they didn't bother me; hell, the ones that I caught may have explanations that make enough sense and aren't too convenient. There were more instances like that of which were revealed to me through other means, but they still didn't bother me that much.
The only thing that's an issue with this show for me is that the main plot and subplots aren't written in a captivating way, most of the time. I'm still entertained enough while watching episodes that feel that way, but it's something that I wish wasn't the case so I can be as entertained as possible. Other than that, I have always been entertained by this show. I don't think that aspect will change, thankfully. It's the entertainment value that matters the most to me. And while I don't understand the high praise or reactions to practically every little detail in the show, it's not my problem. This show has always been entertaining to watch, and that's good enough for me.
This show is fucking diabolical.........in a good way
Truly diabolical R rated show at it's best
I love the premise of this show. It’s different and refreshing. Totally unusual and unexpected. I can’t get enough.
One of the greatest shows I have seen.
:no_mouth: don’t know what to expect
last episode sucks, ruins the whole story
Super I love it! Very funny, dark funny and it's brilliant!!!
Just finished watching the four first episodes. The pilot has to be one of greatest pilots I've ever seen. It has everything and I was hooked immediately. And it keeps getting better. I didn't know I needed this. It's really bold and a fresh wind for TV.
I will never understand why today all series and movies have to contain sarcastic and offensive comments or mentions against Christianity.
IN EXATIC MOMENT I WATCH THE EPISODE 3
This is the show that Zack Snyder wishes he could make.
It deconstructs superheroes in a smart way, while not forgetting about important things like character development, story coherence or pacing.
In fact, this is a show that genuinly has a lot of profound things to say about the military industrial complex, religion, power abuse, and more.
It doesn’t just use fetishized costumes and pretentious dialogue to cover up for its own lack of substance.
Moreover, this show is darkly funny, original and twisted.
They could still improve the show by fleshing out some of the characters in Karl Urban’s crew, because I didn’t think all of them were interesting.
Also, the action scenes are straight up bad, but that’s in no way a dealbreaker, because the show isn’t all that interested in them.
8/10
HOLY SHIT MAN IS IN THIS SERIES ?
Weird how he got these horn thingys in his own movies.
The boys is a gritty take on the superhero genre, with similar characters to DC and Marvel comics but make them evil and based on fortune 500 run franchise(s) in america with the top 7 been monetized an corrupt and lets you see the seedy underground when the lights go down. The show is not for the light hearted or your usual christian bible thumper, but is a great watch, start to finish. It's a R-18 rated show and shows it, so don't complain if that offends you. But i recommend "The Boys", i enjoyed it greatly and await the second season!
Seth Rogan in his greatest role as SirCumsALot779!!
t'was good for the first season. went downhill after that. hughie is the worst.
With Marvel doubling down the simple and easily digestible superhero formula, this show is the complete opposite. This show is not afraid to take risks nor is it afraid to show how corrupt every character is, and I love it for that.
Kinda upset the picture on this site for the show is a spoiler in itself ....... Just wanted to see where to watch the show.
I thought I was seen everything....but season 3 episode 1 oh man
Would have being perfect if they would have slowdown with the gore. It was used a couple of times to their advantage but pretty quick it became laughable and even boring. Other than that it was pretty great - good characters, solid dialog, pretty decent story (thanks to comics I guess).
Over the show starts of great and then lands in mediocre with some great episodes to keep you going. Nothing so ever bad but also doesn’t live up to the promise. Plots just go in circles and nothing ever gets resolved. People do and find things as it serves the plot. The main romance of the show is so high school teenager dumbness to watch. Ugh.
The first impression was very positive. But after the middle of the first season, I began to notice the idiotic plot lines. And the last episode was just disgusting to me. So how so ...
This show is so twisted , I love it! Nothing what I expected.
A very well produced and well acted show is slowed down by some occasional very sloppy writing Why does when the Deep order a live lobster to save at the supermarket, the supermarket attendant kills the lobster before hand, Lobsters taste best when boiled alive, that's the whole reason live lobsters exist at grocery stores. Just some real obvious mistakes that could have been avoided make the show devolve into a parody of south park, when its not following the character drama. Needing to make fun of gay people and Christians doesn't mean you win a contest of playing fair, if the jokes you use are hackney. A sexual abuser being sexually abused doesn't make things fine if the dynamics are completely different and just cause a bad person has a bad thing happen does not fix the person.
Edit: Each season has been much better than the first. I would probably go 6, 8, 7 in terms of ratings.
Gee wonder if somebody was inspired by a certain 2020 event? You know the one happened in the states? Anyways great allegory for that whole mess and pretty fucking funny to be honest. Oh, and if you have a fucking problem with my fucking language then don't fucking watch this show because I'm actually being pretty fucking PG right now comparatively speaking.
It's so frustrating that the plot keeps going around in circles and resetting the status quo by the end of each season, but “The Boys” is still pretty fun to watch. It definitely came out at the right time if we consider the current popularity of both superhero franchises and dark/gruesome TV shows. The premise of corrupt superheroes manipulated by an evil corporation as if they were a K-Pop group is more than intriguing, even though it could have used more nuance in its development. Starlight is too pure and innocent, while the Vought heroes are just walking (or flying) piles of shit with no ambiguity or relatable traits whatsoever, almost like cartoon villains. There is hardly anyone in between at this point.
The second season had slightly better pacing, but at the same time, it gave me the impression that the main plot did not progress much. Both the Supes and the Boys are starting to show their contradictions, and a reasonable time has been devoted to exploring their characters and backstories. I enjoyed the new cast (Stormfront in particular), but I am still waiting for that one character who will make me fall in love. Surprisingly enough, Homelander is still the most interesting of the bunch. The gore was fun at the beginning, but it's starting to get redundant.
The third season had a slow start, but I thought it picked up decently by the end. Still, the plot keeps taking one step forward and two steps back until it feels like none of the story arcs has had a real purpose. Someone died, and someone changed their official position, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a way to reset that as well at the beginning of the next season. They know that if the plot evolves and Homelander finally snaps, they’ll be done in a handful of episodes. I expect this to keep dragging on for a few more years until they let everything happen in the final season.
The mandatory “edgy” scenes, usually one per episode, are as fun as they are hollow and inoffensive, while the parodies of American TV shows and pop culture are usually pretty good.
And please, someone kill Frenchie and Kimiko because I can’t stand them anymore. Their scenes are so schmaltzy that I want to jump out of the window each time.
If superheroes really did exist they would probably be just as psycho hahaha! I just finished the season and I was even wilder than the previous seasons! I could have did without the herogasim thing though... that was wayyyyyy over the top. Over all though the action was off the chain and I hate to use another cliché but there really was never a dull moment.
Seth Rogan should be banned for creating anything, including YouTube poops.
Holy crapballs Batman. You will never look at superhero’s in the same way again. Funnily enough this is probably a more grounded representation of what a superhuman megastar would be like. Sociopaths & narcissists, massive ego’s with superiority complexes. And of course their existence would be corporatized.
Brilliant, 10/10. A must see.
it's a really good time to be a series junkie. this show is like a child born by marvel and raised by Zack Snyder. best writing and telling of a dark super hero story of this decade.
Yes, yes, yes this is what the super hero genre needs. Fresh but gritty thanks to the R+18. Hooked after 1 episode. Keep up the heroics Amazon.
After the disappointing third season I can no longer in good conscience recommend this show. Season 2 was week an unforgettable but Season 3 was just horrible and irritating.
The Boys is my favorite graphic novel and Garth Ennis my favorite writer. Is this true to the source material? No. There was never a chance they’d allow that much wonderful depravity. I’m ok with that. The adaptation still delivers a similar message and remains thoroughly entertaining.
This is one of the best superhero tv show i have seen.I hope Amazon does a good in marketing also because they usually don't promote their shows unless it's jack ryan.
This show is badass. If you can't stand cussing and over the top gore, skip it, this show is not for you. This show offers a new take on the superhero genre in which the superheroes are worshiped to the point of becoming overly arrogant and even evil. The heroes in this show are not always the ones with the superpowers. The rudeness and vulgarity in which it is wrapped actually works and doesn't feel like it's just rude to be rude or nasty to be nasty. With interesting, fun characters this quickly became a favorite of mine.
The Boys is a good show. I hope they do a season 2.
this show man it gave everything and more
I'll give it a 9 because it's SUPErb haha get it
fucking diabolical :moyai::moyai::moyai::moyai::moyai: must watch
The Boys is the most unique live action show I’ve ever had the pleasure to view. 10/10 :star:
The best way to describe this series is: Bold and unapologetic. In today's film/serie landscape, The Boys is a breath of fresh air, not afraid to take risks. In cas you hadn't figured it out yet, it's great. Go watch it!
You will instantly understand what kind of show this is after a few minutes of watching, trust me. And it gets wilder by the minute.
One of the best graphic novel adaptations on TV.
A fresh new look on superheros. After too many marvel films and shows this was refreshing. Funny, lots of gore, sex and superheros.
Season 4 sounds like it'll be amazing based on the last episode of season 3.
Great show, has a great plot with good twists and turns..
Really enjoyed it, a very fresh, intelligent, interesting show. Excellent characters. :thumbsup_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1:
So excited for this show! Love the comics!
why people say this is better as gen v...gen v is better but this is staying on my list also but gen v is mor inproppiate i like
I don't really care for superheroes, but in a world like this it's fun. Just to see the dark humor behind it all is great to see.
God this was exhausting, it drags and drags, we get it superheroes are bad guys, blood and guys, loooooooong episodes with bizarre sex and stuff.
Let me say this I’m not crapping on the violence or the sex, it’s just not done tastefully and it just won’t stop. I lost interest half way through season one and I am just incapable of stopping midway through.
It’s basically torture
I really hope this show doesn't last more than five seasons. Eight episodes and eight hours of content in the most recent season yet I feel like nothing of consequence really happened by the end. It just seems like the show is spinning its wheels a bit at the moment.
Top 10 tv show, way better then that walking dead trash
i started watching for jensen ackles but ofc u gotta watch the first two seasons first to understand the third and by the time he showed up i didnt even care for him that much anymore bc the plot was just so good. first show ever i think ive watched that hasn't already been cancelled & i hate waiting for s4 so much. the violence is a bit much at times but the plot is good enough so it gets by.
i hate this new trend of shows being super short, though. i understand the episodes are long so technically its a 12 episode 30 min show but still. bc of these 8 episode seasons you get a lot of plot packed into each episode to the point where it almost (almost) seems like a chore to turn it on and u can't miss an episode or god forbid 5 minutes of an episode otherwise you'll have no idea what's happening. i get it, it's not seinfeld, whatever. that's not my point.
One of the few Amazon Originals that actually hit. It's freaking hilarious, entertaining, and well made. I'm looking forward to another season.
It's ok..some series episodes were great
good if you want to waste your time.
I sincerely mean it when I say this is one of the worst shows I've ever had the displeasure of watching.
First half was "insane"! 9/10. Then it seemed as the budget was cut... the series took a huge downfall in all areas. Some episodes are very cheaply made and seem like "fillers".
Overall, love the unique concept and everything about the show, when the episodes are on point.
this script was written by a kid or by someone that has't watched the previous season
Don't waste your time on this...it feels like Heroes on a Budget ... Too much drama, too little action.
really !!! putting a young girl dancing Like that ... YOU PEDOS!!
This is one of the best show no one ever have to miss.I mean great.Highly recommend
One of the best shows on TV!
This series is refreshingly different from DC and Marvel shows. I stopped watching immediately - at first- after the scène where the girlfriend gets obliterated. But gave it a second chance later, while watching alone. It's too much gore to be girlfriend-approved material.
2 seasons down and there is nothing but up up and away for this super powered show. Can't wait for more.
I thought the first episode was interesting, if not a little slow. I am now 4 episodes in and I am hooked. Really familiar tropes are turned on it’s head and it’s such a great watch. I wasn’t a fan of umbrella academy as I thought the pacing was terrible, however with ‘the boys’ I feel so far they’ve nailed it. Everything feels relevant and not filler, I can’t wait to see more!
Edit: finished now, a brilliant watch throughout. The quality of this show put into context what has been wrong in other superhero shows for me. A breath of fresh air in a stagnating genre. Great job guys.
I just watched episode five and I now understand the warning....
they nasty!
SMH
A show with a fresh idea, well presented. Humorous and macabre at the same time. A memorable show for me !
It's out on Friday, not Thursday apparently
Bold and refreshing storytelling! I hate the last episode's epic cliffhanger though! GRRRRRRRRR! AND OMG I LUV Karl Urban SOOOO MUCH!
It potrayed a different side of a superhero story and i really enjoyed it. It was super fun!
BE ADVISED! When they say "TV-MA," they mean it. This is NOT a show for kids or even teenagers. I thought the First Season was hilarious and very well done. However, the second season falls flat on its face. They lost their creativity, they filled it with all the standard Hollywood clichés about Nazis..... and other trash. They could've done so, so much better. The first season is amazing, but I leave it to you to judge Season 2.
I’m loving this show!!! I don’t know why it took me so long to start watching it!
This show started out very well and had so much potential. But, season 3 completely ruined it. They're trying to stretch this as much as possible. I know it's based on comics. But, it still doesn't make any sense.
It is a different series about superheroes, not from the typical point of view that we are used to seeing them. A bit sordid, but recommended.
Wow. Simply wow. This show is amazing. Ignore all the haters, they don’t know what they are talking about. This show has no shame to go after everything which is just brilliant. Love the bit about religion...this is the superhero show for people who are tired of the same formula used by writers for the past 50 years. Ignore all the reviews & watch the show.
The Boys is a new refreshing series in an oversaturated market of superhero comic adaptations. The non-canon goofy insecure main character, a Superman parody with a megalomaniac god complex, layered character traits where no character truly falls to black or white zone, but rather grey makes the show even a lot more interesting cause this is a scenario that most superhero movies tend to avoid. There are a few changes to the comics but they are not overdone and even the gender-swapping doesn't feel forced. Brilliant actor team makes everything perfect. Well done.
This show is brilliantly put together! Dark humor in all the right places and entertaining as hell. Karl Urban is fantastically balancing maniacal and sensitive in one character. The logic of the corrupt superheroes feels so real, it causes me to look at Marvel characters in a different light. My new favorite show!
What a waste of good actors (and of my time). Although a quite good idea the execution is simply boring.
The casting is something else, outstanding! Great tv show, really recommend it
Ok I'm only on Episode 1, but I've already encountered multiple WTF moments that have me hooked on the show more than ever. If you haven't started the show and think it's just another mediocre, overly-hyped superhero story like I did, boy are you in for a ride. The filmography will def blow your mind
The premise, the plotting, and a lot of the characters are absolutely phenomenal, but the actual writing, the scripts, are bad. The dialogue is awful and corny, a lot of the drama is artificial and super cliche, and there are a lot of characters whose arcs play out predictably or whose stories aren't given enough screen time.
Just being vulgar doesn't make a great show, it's for dummies.
This show wasn’t really great, but you could find some merit in season one. Season two was not as interesting and I lost a lot of interest. Then the opening scene of season three was graphic, unnecessary and so over the top that I just couldn’t watch any more of this.
Really something special. Extra gritty yet still manages to make each death on the show matter. At least the first 2 seasons are full on worth 9/10 rating !
Where do I even start? I mean the show is amazing, the characters are fantastic, the story got me hooked. I watched both seasons in one go. Best way to waste 16h and not regret your decision afterwards.
Highly entertaining and full of great and horrible characters.
10 of 10 nice characters and trama gl guys
One, if not the best, series I ever watched.. Great actors, great characters and a great story.. Very brutal, just like I love it... Can't wait for season 3...
A wild ride full of swearing, violence, blood, guts and anything and everything else you can think of.
Episode 5-One word, Blasphemous. Another Hollyweird show mocking Christians. Go on, hate on me for my views but its my opinion and that's called free speech.
This is an interesting adaptation of the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Darick Robinson.
Graphic novels are very hard to translate into a watchable series, mostly due to the sheer breadth of the material and often untranslatable concepts but the writing team here did a good job of crating a compelling and interesting take on the superhero genre. Ennis is famous for his take on the fallibility of the superpowered human and this comes across strong albeit not in the extremis he probably would pursue.
Cast wise there are a couple of well known faces, the most notable being Karl Urban who makes a good choice for butcher however his biggest butchering is of the cockney accent he tries to affect. From time to time his native Kiwi accent bleeds through making him sound Australian which is somewhat distracting but he is a solid actor and he makes up for this with his big screen prescence.
Anthony Starr is another Kiwi who shines in his role as Homelander, a part which he absolutely nails. As a metaphor character for modern America Homelander needed an actor with a subtle touch and Starr is a great choice.
The choice of Jack Quaid for Hughie is an interesting one. It was obvious that the role was tailor made for Simon Pegg and he does a cameo as Hughie's dad in an obvious nod to the source material however the Hughie of the novels is a tortured Hibernian soul with all the angst and wit unique to the Scottish. Quad is a good actor but the end result of rewriting Hughie as a nerdy American results in a character who is more of an annoying simp than antihero. He is supposed to be a character that you love because of his obvious flaws and shortcomings but (and maybe its just me) I find him bland to the point of being apathetic to his fate. He is not a worthy protaganist.
Notable performance s include Starlight played by Erin Moriarty who is a good fit for the role and I hope the writers develop more of her storyline. Likewise Aya Cash as Stormfront makes her mark and I was not sure the role would work as a female (as it is male in the novels) but she makes it her own! Elisabeth Shue is almost too good as an antagonist almost to the point of me wondering who she is channelling to make her character so unlikable!
If I have one criticism its that the novels had a core mission for 'The Boys' whereas I struggle to understand why they exist as a team in the TV series. The motivators in the Novels are clear cut and understandable whereas they are getting progressively opaque in this series. I hope the writers put some effort into making the 'mission' of 'The Boys' more clear and give us an outcome to root for!
Overall, a solid 8/10!
Getting worried about season 2 ... there is a creeping feeling of a moral tale to be told! Certainly not something I want to happen or think should. For once can the nasty baddies win please and the good guys get their ass kicked? Please?!

This show has lots of disgusting gore, but not even all that blood and guts cannot compete with the dairy fetish.
I rate it "don't milk the MILF" out of ten
