I felt sort of let down, sort of adrift, so wanting more... and I cried. So maybe, just maybe, this final episode is better than I thought when I started to post this comment. 8 out of 10 stars.
+I'm Sadie!
-I know...
:(
Those final few scenes were extremely emotional and it moved me deeply. He holds her hands and then he let her go. He loves her but that’s is the only way to protect her. Bittersweet moment i guess. Perfect and heartbreaking at the same time. Fantastic way to end the series. One of the best ending i have ever seen for a mini series. Absolutely loved it.
I think the best part of this episode for me was when Jake cried after seeing Harry at the end of the episode. Harry holding him and telling him he’s a good man was better (to me) than when Jake dances with Sadie.
Left me speechless and torn apart. One of the best series, definitely. Perhaps the all time best of Stephen King. Gotta read the book.
All in all, I thought they adapted the source material suitably for a television show. That being said, I'm going to be one of those that say the series pales in comparison to the book. You should read it even if the show has been your first exposure to the story.
I'm sorry but WTF? Is everyone gonna ignore the fact that he just left the love of his life to marry her abusive husband just because a crazy man told him so? It doesn't make any sense! [flips the table]
Why the heck would Sadie die? If she didn't die in the original timeline then wouldn't her dying be the change that the hat guy says is impossible? And btw - we do know that it is possible to change the past (i.e. Sadie's death) - Jake DID save JFK! Goddammit, Stephen!
In all honesty, the ending seems unfinished. It's like Stephen King just went "Eh. Good 'nuf." Although I sincerely hope that the book ending was better fleshed out.
And yeah, I know that Sadie's husband "dies unexpectedly in a car crash" (real convenient btw) and that she's lead a good life all things considered. But it just seems like a shame Jake doesn't want BOTH of them to be happy. I mean if that is a possibility. And I also do get the main idea about the dark and the light. But this little titbit just ruins it for me. Such a positive message ruined by a small incongruity in the plot. I actually really enjoyed the mini-series right up to that point.
P.S.:Oh, and one more thing, the part with the alternative future was kind of ham-fisted. I mean, we get it: don't mess with the past too much. But the apocalypse? I mean, really?
Gosh, that was sad. And I don’t think Jake needed to leave Sadie. Sadie didn’t die because it was her fate, like that man’s daughter. Clearly it wasn’t her fate, because she made it to the present. Her death was a consequence of trying to stop Lee, the past pushing back. So I think they could’ve had their life together, and it would’ve spared me the emotion turmoil.
So just finished watching this and I can't put a finger on what I feel about the ending. Probably one of my most loved series of all time. Learned something though... That time put things as it is because things happen for a bigger, better purpose. Oh it's me again having the melodramatic aftertaste. I'm just happy Sadie's alive.
So my reactions aside, I liked that way Jake and Sadie's emotions have been captured in what seemed to be the choice Jake made to end their relationship (and to avoid the butterfly effect) by letting go of Sadie's hand (actually and symbolically). It was just an abrupt mix of emotions in the middle where he went to the future and found out things didn't turn out right. But overall it was a joy to watch.
What a beautiful (but heartbreaking in a way) ending. Very close of the book.
A sweet ending even though I pictured it ending with Jake reunited with an older Sadie. I thought of that ending in like episode 5. 11/22/63 was pretty great. However in the end it was more about love than anything.
Everything Jake did in every episode to stop murders turning out to be pointless kind of the left a bad taste in my mouth. It does however make sense that there would be butterfly effects though.
But a butterfly effect where JFK would have concentration camps like Hitler ? Not everything worked but the show was a great ride nevertheless. I really wouldn't mind more King mini series like it on Hulu.
This was probably the kind of ending I least expected, due to it being just so obvious and somewhat uncreative.
I haven't read the book, therefore I can't say a think about the storyline or the ending, for that matter.
But there were so many chances where one could've built in a couple of awesome plot twists that would've made the entire thing not only a whole lot more enjoyable, but much more fitting to the whole complex thing that the concept of time travel is.
For example: Since they set the focus so heavily on the fact that time doesn't want itself to be changed, they could've easily changed the storyline in a way that doesn't really change the past in such a hard way.
What if Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't the one responsible for the assassination of JFK, but Mr. Amberson himself? What if Lee Harvey Oswald was nothing more than a patsy and the FBI or whoever else was actually the one responsible for the shooting? What if, that, after changing the past in a rather impactful way, there was no way of going back through the rabbit hole, since said change dismissed the fact that the rabbit hole existed in the first place?
These are just a couple of 'what ifs' that I've asked myself at the beginning and throughout the series, 'what ifs', that I figured the writers and producers of this show also must've asked themselves when being presented with a plot that's so diverse and changeable in such numerous ways.
And, sadly, these 'what ifs' are nothing more than, well, 'what ifs', since it seems like this huge amount of possibilities was just too huge an amount for the people creating this show to actually explore them, at all.
So the actual ending itself appeared to me as nothing more than way too straight-forward, obvious and rather uncreative, running adrift to being a slightly cheesy love story ending.
Incredible. I enjoyed this series far more than I expected.
Great series. Watched with my wife. Enough twist and turns to keep me interested and not too complicated that my wife couldn’t follow either. Well worth at watch
A tear jerker of an episode.
I really enjoy the end, he really was in love of Sadie
Superb close to a great series. I cried at the end :sob::see_no_evil:
Wonderful Finale, and I cried a lot.
Am I the only one noticing the REDRUM graffiti on the wall when they are climbing the stairs at the beginning of this episode?! Great wink to The Shining!
amazing ending and a bit sad about Sadie
bittersweet ending. I wish there were more episodes to watch.
I'm so disappointed with this. The first two espisodes were incledible but the rest of the season was not. I liked the last scene between Jake and the 75 (I guess) years old Sadie though. I almost cried.
The series is good....this end is more than amazing!! 10/10 to the end

Probably one of the most incredible series endings ever.
