In which they outright acknowledge the point that I made in my comment for episode 10; that Nyanko-sensei really does care for Natsume and isn't with him only to benefit himself. I'm sort of surprised, but not complaining, that they brought it up so early in the series.
Was also nice to see what Nyanko gets up to when he isn't around Natsume though it looked like much of the same stuff he gets up to around Natsume haha!
One thing I am really loving about this series as I watch it, is seeing how Natsume and Nyanko-sensei's relationship plays out. At the end of nearly every episode, they have a small moment where Natsume sort of reflects on the themes brought up in the episode. And a lot of them have to do with losing the people you love, loneliness, and a lack of a sense of belonging. And I feel like they both can relate to that. Nyanko-sensei is very adamant about not having any love for Natsume and only being with him because he gets something out of it but I really don't think that's the case. And I think (and I hope) that as the series goes on, they will explore that more.
Also regarding this episode specifically, I loved the artistic choice to completely leave out the koto song as it was, just like she said, a song she wanted to play for only Brelly-San's ears. Beautifully done.
Wow, what a first episode! Dark, engaging, and leaving me immediately wanting more. This could be the next big thing and I can't wait to see where the show goes from here.
The special effects for this episode were amazing! Skye's powers looked badass and I really like the look of Gordon's teleportation "bamfs". I'm glad he was able to get some more screen time as well and we could get to know the character a bit more. He seems to work as a kind of replacement for Lockjaw on the show, which I'm more than okay with. He seems like a cool character and it would probably be a bit hard to get a giant five foot tall dog on the show and not make it cheesy.
Excited to see where Hunter, Coulson and the rest of the team go from here! This show really did turn into something incredible.
This episode provided two of the most important contributions to the series--Riker playing the trombone and the Riker/Picard dual power walk through the Enterprise. Truly magnificent.
Riker wearing the Angel One outfit is truly a gift to mankind.
Oh my gods this was such an amazing and heartbreaking episode! Batiatus is not someone to be trifled with.
Pretty solid first episode. Different from the comics but that's to be expected. Can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes!
