What a nice Christmas episode, though it really does feel weird seeing this in August. I liked seeing Rebecca reach out to Ted so he doesnt stay home alone depressed during Christmas, its always nice seeing platonic friendships between men and women in these sorts of shows, and I really love this relationship between Ted and Rebecca. Both Ted and Rebecca can relate to the feeling of losing a loved one, as they had both divorced their partners, Im glad they're supporting each other through the process. Also Im glad Higgins got a bunch of people at his Christmas party, its always nice seeing characters like Sam and that "football is life" dude just hanging out and being positive. Roy and Keeley are great as always too, helping out Roys niece with her bad breath, and making Roy's niece's bully apologize, that was pretty funny and sweet of Roy.
This episode of Ted Lasso was amazing. I loved how Rebecca was taking accountability for abandoning her goddaughter and was actually attempting to spend time with her and bond. Roy’s great too, giving excellent advice to Rebecca about how all she needs to do to bond with Nora is to show Nora that she’s a part of Rebecca’s life. I love this relationship with Roy and Rebecca. Roy, the former employee, casually hanging out with his boss and giving her solid advice. It’s also nice seeing Jamie trying to fit into the team again and being knocked down a peg, after he used to me this massive prick in the team back before Manchester. I’m glad he’s kinda made up with Sam, the guy Jamie ruthlessly picked on in the past, and that Jamie supported Sam in his protest against Nigeria’s corruption. Jamie’s still an egoistical kid, but I’m glad he' seems to have cooled down now and is trying to get along with his teammates rather than insult them. I also hope this show explores more why Ted is so opposed to relying on the therapist, like what Ted did for the Jamie issue. Sam is always such a good guy, its nice seeing Nigerian representation in media. I loved his story this episode, seeing him stand up against DubaiAir who was a part of the corruption in the Nigerian government, rather than accept this massive campaign offer by DubaiAir, and seeing his teammates support and join him in protest was such a great scene, and just goes to show how tight-knit AFC Richmond is. It’s also nice seeing Roy enjoy being a sports commentator. I’m glad he’s able to reconnect with the sport he loves. Also, I love the friendships in this show; they feel like actual groups who would hang out in real life, with Nathan, Higgins, Beard, and Ted always hanging out and talking in Ted’s office, and with Rebecca, Sassy, and Keeley bonding with each other this episode. Though we barely saw her, its nice seeing Dr. Sharon to, sort of always looking over Ted and what he’s doing with the team. This episode was the best one this season. I also hope we get to see Nora more and she isn’t just a one-episode character.
Another solid episode of MHA s5, I'm really enjoying this season and I cant wait for the Meta Liberation attack. In the latter half of this episode when they explored Shirokumo's backstory with Aizawa and Present Mic i thought it was a really good scene. Aizawa had such a strong attachment to Shirokumo, a guy who was constantly going head first into situations to help others. Shirokumo is like mirio for Tamiki, with Shirokumi being a big motivation for Aizawa to be a hero, and influenced how Aizawa views himself and others, wanting to raise heroes to be like Shirokumo, as people who motivate others and put their all on the line. Also, i hope we get to see more of that doctor and what he;s doing to Shigaraki, and maybe more of Hawks life as a double agent.
Man this was such a good series premiere, I am so invested in this show.
I loved the darker aspects of the show, with Twilight, who grew up early on in a battlefield, lacking any human connection and feeling lost and abandoned in the world, but abandoned/suppressed these past memories, adopting the persona of Twilight, the spy who does everything he can to maintain peace in the world. From that brief character backstory it's clear Twilight has some unresolved childhood trauma from lacking someone who loved him, and it seems this Twilight identity in a sense serves as a way to avoid confronting that past self.
Although, now that Twilight's new mission requires him to adopt this father persona, it's looking like Twilight (now Loid Forger) is going to be confronting some of these past issues, and developing real connections with someone as he raises Anya, rather than just being this empty person who lives life on his own.
Touching on Anya, its clear she relates heavily with Twilight, as someone who was never really given love and care throughout her childhood, just being treated as a lab experiment (given that she's a telepath) who must dedicate their existence for the grand goal of maintaining world peace. Anya is clearly deprived of an emotional connection, and it completely explains why she became so attached to Twilight, someone who (even if he doesn't admit it) has become attached to her. And luckily, it's looking like Twilight is now willing to adopt the role of a father and care for Anya, and this dynamic is seeming to soften Twilight's previously cold heart.
There was also a bunch of cute moments during this episode, and I especially loved the scenes where Anya and Loid reunited, with Anya waiting for him rather than going to the police station, it really fermented the father-daughter relationship they are going to have; I loved the ending scene where Loid lifted up Anya in delight, feeling genuinely proud of Anya for passing the entrance exams, and having a brief moment of realization that Anya is softening him emotionally.
Also, man was the animation and art style beautiful, especially that one combat sequence where Loid was beating up those invaders, the animation was just so fluid. Also, I love the comedy bits here two, especially that one moment where Anya, by messing with Loid's spy gadgets, was just taunting Loid's enemies. And man, was the spy-esque jazz music just another cherry on top for my enjoyment of today's episode.
I'm glad they went to the convention after all, Kitagawa was clearly having a great time cosplaying at the event as Shizuku-tan. Though ngl, I felt worried about my guy Wakana for a bit, it started to sink in that now that they've completed the cosplay, there would be nothing really tying Kitagawa and him together like that, and the special relationship they've had would no longer exist, I especially felt bad because of how much Kitagawa has changed Wakana's life in such a short time, with her showing him how fun it can be to openly express your passions without a care for others views on it, and just brightening up his life as his first friend and person (other than his gramps) who was fascinated by his passion in hina-dolls. But im glad that Kitagawa apparantly has mutiple favorite characters and they'll continue making a bunch of cosplays together. And man, I knew it was coming evenetually, but im glad that Wakana called her beautiful, that word clearly has deep importance to Wakana, with him only reserving it for things that are really special to him, and Kitagawa knows that too. Seeing her blush after Wakana called him beautiful was really cute, though it sucks Wakana missed that cause he feel asleep immediatly afterwards. Also, damn with Wakana and Kitagawa just date already, they're so good for eachother, on the outside appearing liek complete opposites but they're both driven by their passions and constantly working hard for them.
Terrifying, anxiety-inducing, stressful. The word's barely start capturing the experience of this episode. Evan Peters did a fantastic job capturing the eeriness of Jeffrey Dahmer, with the lifeless expressions, slows body movements, weirdly pitched voiced, and clam demeanor contrasting the terrifying aura he gives off. The opening shot with Dahmer, seeing his clear blood off his knife and gloves in his room, with dull yellow and green lights shining the apartment, really effectively established Dahmer as a ominous figure.
And later on, when Dahmer brought the dude to his apartment, I was constantly on the edge of my seat, worried that at any second, Dahmer would kill the stranger. Watching the stranger quickly realize something was off with Dahmer, and seeing how Dahmer would grow more aggressive, threatening the stranger with murder if he didn't comply was so intense and worrying.
The set design of Dahmer's apartment played a big role in adding to this eerie atmosphere, with ominious drugs and metal tools scattered around the apartment room, just barely hidden from view until you're fully in the room. And hearing the stranger odor described by the neighbor as constantly coming from his room, with Dahmer clearly making up excuses as it what it's from, really made Dahmer seem like a murderer. The calm nature in which he described it too, clearly showed it wasn't Dahmer's first time trying to cover up his murders.
Man, it was such a relief that the black dude escaped Dahmer, I was kinda worried something would happen when he met the police (given how the first scene with the black neighbor highlighted how ever-present issues of racist violent was in the country), but luckily the show didn't go that route for him.
I really felt bad for the father of Jeffrey Dahmer, with him having to hear all the gruesome crimes the son that he raised commuted, being forced to deal with the reality that his kid is a serial murderer. Watching him alone, breaking down into tears while accepting what his son had become, was heart-breaking. I couldn't begin to imagine how I'd feel as a parent if my child turned out like Jeffrey Dahmer.
I'm surprised the episode started here, with Dahmer being arrested and taken into custody, I'm looking forward to seeing how the show handles the court hearings and possible his life in prison. So far I;m fairly invested in all the characters that have been introduced.
Another cute episode of sono bisque between Wakana and Marin. Man things were really getting intense in the love hotel as they did a photoshoot, I almost beleieved they would really kiss, but of course the phone blueballed Wakana.
Although we got no focus on badmitton today, it was still a nice episode to watch. I'm glad Mikoto is settling into his job and enjoying it, as he's surrounded by people supporting his product proposal and hoping it succeeds. Also, it was nice seeing more Mikoto and Azuma, with Azuma pulling trhough and delivering the product for the taste testing session. I'm glad they're kknow friendly rivals and have gotten through all the past drama. Also, looks like I was right about Usuyama, he was passionate and really skilled about badmitton, but after marrying and having a family, he dropped that dream. Though its pretty obvious he cant keep that past away forever, he's still passioante about the sport, and man I hope he joins back. Also, im glad my guy Takeda got over his performance anxiety, thanks to that image everyone naked advice. And man, im surpsied how much I cared about Mikoto succeeding in his product proposal, I'm actually happy he got it passed through the commision.
Another solid episode of mushoku tensei, looks like rudues got another book and even a wand for his 5th b-day. Also, I enjoyed seeing Rudues tackle his emotional trauma from back in his past, when he was publicly humiliated to an almost comiclly evil level by his highschool peers, to the point where all he could now assoicate with the outside and human interaction were those traumatic memories. Luvkiliy, although accidentally, Roxy was able to show Rudues how there's nothing to fear from the outside, he'll be fine with her, essentially he has a new life and doesnt need to be clinging onto past trauma. Also looks liek Roxy is leaving now after 2 yrs of training Rudy, and Rudy's now a sacred water sage. I hope Rudy eventually goes to this magiic academy where he can properly hone his talents.
A solid introduction to the series. Man I just gotta say the artstyle and animation is beautiful, gives of this real-whisical children's book atmosphere and sort of reminds me of witch-hat atelier and I am loving it. Also, I'm lookign forward to learning more about this protagonist, Rudeus, this formerly jobless recluse who lived a pathetic life which he didnt care for, to being reincarnated into this fantasy world with magic and a real future for him, with a loving family and him being skilled at magic (with him using incantationless and intermiediate level magic from a yougn age). Also, i hope this show expands more on why Rudeus seemed so petrified by going outside, with him wanting to stay by Pauls side instead of going out to train with Roxy (the mage hired to train Rudues after Rudeus showed his parents his magical-proficiency), I assume is has to deal with some emotional trauma from his past life as a 34yr old recluse. Looks like this show is going to focus alot on Rudeus' redemption of himself, doing everything he failed to do in his past life and improving himself as a person, with him now being given a brand new life in a whole new world. I also really enjoyed learning the basics of the world's magic system to as Rudues did. And man did that ending music slap.
A solid season finale. Im glad the gang were able to defeat the cow together, even without Murn. And man, ngl I felt that for a second Peacemaker would switch teams and follow Goff in their goal to reshape humanity by any means necessary. Also, I loved the fight choreagraphy this episode, with Loeta, Chris, and Vig killing all the aliens on the field, and mandid Leota pull of some badass stuff with how she handled the Cow using the torpedo helmet. Also we cat forget about Economos, with him going undercover to drop the sonic boom helmet into the barn full of butterflies and the cow. Also it was sweet that Leota and Chris made up again, even tho what she did was really shitty, Leota is a great friend for Chris. And man,im glad Emilia survived, man was I worried seeing her like that on the field and w/a butterfly almost entering her. Also, man Leota is the goat for exposing all the secrets to the public, completelty revealing the truth about this government and her mom to the public. I really hope there isnt a season two, this completetly wrapped up the show in a nice way and I really enyoed this contained story.
A really fun episode, I really enjoyed watching Wakana get flustered as he took measurements of Kitagwaw for the cosplay outfit at his house (after she invited herslef over), as Kitagawa was just cool as ever even thow she was in a bathing suit being mesured by a highscool boy (at least cool until that one scene). I l just love seeing the dynamic between the two, and seeing how commiteed Kitawaga is to her cosplay, even doing uncomfortable things like this, and I'm really hoping theres gonna be some romance (beyond just flustered Wakana).
I'm really liking how this show is playing with the concept of time travel, with Cheng Xiaoshi entering the timperiod and subject of a picture for only 12 hours, w/ Lu Guang watching what he does throuhgout the time travel. And after seeing that ending, looks like they really cant fuck around with the events of the past, or it'll have dire consequences, w/this time, Emma, the subject of the timetravel, dying mysteriously after they completeted their mission. I'm also liking how this time travel business causes the time traveler to experience the feelings and emtions of their subject, serving as a sort of vessel to learn more about the subject and Cheng Xioshi as a person. In today's mission of proving the Vicky Game ceo of fraud, we learned about how Cheng used to grow up with loving parents, but the parents were growing distant from eachother and fihgting all the time, and they eventually abandoned him, which was similar to the subject they time traveled through, with Emma having parents who constantly fight all the time, but still clearly care about their daughter. I also really liked Emma's character, an overworked young Japanese assisant to CEO of this Vicky Game industry, who deals with parents that fight back and forht and an creepy and overly sexual boss, just struggling day by day and missing being around her parents. It was sweet that Cheng while in Emma's body texted Emma's parents saying that she missed them so they could rebuild their relationship together, but it looks like because of that small tamper with the natural state of the past, Emma was murdered. Also, I enjoyed the dynamics between Cheng Xioshi and Lu Guang, with Guang being a good friend and comforting Cheng, as Cheng was crying in bed over missing his parents while in the body of Emma. Also I like the landlady Qiao Ling, she seems like a cool person that gets along with the two boys. Also the animation and artstyle is very unique and beautiful and I love the rap music in this show.
I'm really liking how the show is also fleshing out it's backgrounds characters. I really liked learning about Dorshe, former Spear of the King who became Queen Hiling's bodyguard. Watching his relationship with Hiling as her bodyguard was wholesome, as he watching Hiling form a mother son relationship with Bojji, who had just lost his birth mother, with Hiling taking steps such as baking Bojji food and learnign sign language. Also watching Hilling become kinder to Dorshe was nice to see too, at the end of the day Hilling is a nervous sweetheart. I also really like Dorshe's philosphy as a boydguard of Hiling, belieiving that everyone is worth protecting. Today, with Dorshe protecting Hiling from the monsters sent to assasinate Hiling was such a visually-stimulating experience. Everything from the choreography, camera-direction, and animation masterfully combined to giving a beautiful, dynamic fight scene reminisit of One punch man s1's best fights, especially when Dorshe broke through his body armor and went all out against the monsters. Bro I was so worried about his life when he got bitten by them, but luckily he managed to defeat the monsters, sadly with him passing out too. But of course, Hiling was there to heal Dorshe from death. Also, I really empathize for Queen Hiling, not only is Bojji, while alive (which she and the kingdom officials know noow), gone from her, now she has completley lost her son, Daida, knowing nothing of what has happened to him or even if he's alive, losing a child has been tearing her apart, and Bosse, her own husband, is the one whose overtaken Daida's body. Also, after Dorshe's succesful protection, now Hiling basically knows that King Bosse, her own husband, has tried to assasinate her. The confrontation between Hiling and King Bosse was painful to watch, with Hiling just begging Bosse for her son back in his own body, and Bosse seemingly not caring about what's happened to their child. Also, surprisingly, this episode made me empathize for Daida. I meman the guy has now lost everything he's defined his worth with, he no longer has any strength or authority after losing his body to King Bosse, and now he's trapped in this black abyss unable to see or hear anything anymore after Queen Hiling stopped trying to reach out to him when she was knocked out, undergoing an experience akin to his deaf and mute brother. Daida is going insane in this completelty isolated and dark abyss too, especially after it sets in that Lady Mirage was just using him all this time for her own goals and never cared for him. Also the "interaction" between Daida and Hiling was painful to watch, with Hiling being the only person who could hear the cries of Daida being trapped in his own body, but with her having no way to free Daida, leading her to almost cut up Daida's body to try and free him but luckily being stopped and knocked out by bodyguard Dorshe. Also, regarding the inreaction, theres Daida momentarily being reassured that someone could hear him but losing that connection moments later with them no longer replying, just breaking down while he's all alone, but also coming to understand how his brother lives. Also, the relationship between King Bosse and Lady Mirage is pretty intriguing, it almost seems like a romantic relationship with how they interact with eachother, especially with today's dance sequence w/Mirage possessing an inanimate doll, and Im curious what their goals are, I mean even Bosse doesnt seem sure of what the future entails for what he's gonna do. All I know now is that Mirage is goign back to the Underworld to gather some monsters, presumably to finish the assasination job. Also, does Bosse actually care about Queen Hiling, I mean first he gives a heads up to Dorshe about the assasination plan, and now he's warning Dorshe to escape with Hiling for a while before the next one, if Bosse actually wanted her dead could he not just do it herself, or is Bosse's strength limited by the body he overtook?
I liked this King Desha dude, King of the Underworld who can train ordinary people into mighty ones huh, but damn did he have to be so blunt with Bojji. I'm glad we got to see more of Bojji's dodging skills this episode, as Bojji was sparring with a knight to show off his talents to King Desha, tho Desha brought up the valid point that dodging is good an all but it's not going to win a fight. I felt bad for my guy Bojji tho, after being rejected so brutally because him, just like almost everyone else has dismssed his dodging ability as useless for fighting, and Bojji clearly feels weak because that's all he has for fights. Though luckily, Kage just misread the letter and its actually Prince Despa they're supposed to meet, the wise man, I cant wait to see hwat Bojji learns from him, and if Despa can draw out his potiential. Also, im pretty interested in King Daida's curent story, buddy really wants to grow in strength from hsi own potiental, not just using his fathers or anyone elses strength. This massive desire of his to prove he can hbe strong through his own merits seems pretty influenced by his relationship with Bojji, wantingg to show that he's better than him in every way. Also Daida was a lucky man (only for one scene tho) that the magic mirror lady saved him from being cut down by Apeas, who wants to dedicate his sword to carrying out Bosse's will of having Bojji as king. That magic mirror lady, who apparantly is named Lady Mirage, must've been really powerful and intimidating when she was in her original body, I mean Apeas was terrified just be a mirror projection of the woman, and also it looks like she wasnt lying about being an ally of sorts to king bosse. And, looks like Bebin wouldve been a big stick in the mud for Lady Mirage's plans had he remained alive, wiht his watchhful eyes preventing Lady Mirange from executing her plans, man I'm really wishing Bebin hadnt died now. Also, looks like King Daida has been caught by Apeas and Lady Mirage and forced fed the potion, I wonder what thats gonna do to Daida cause its clearly not for his benefit. Looking forward to the next episode.
i liked this episode too. Its hard seeing Aimee deal with the trauma of being sexually assaulted on the bus, w/ her unable to go on the bus anymore out of fear that the perpatrator is there, even hallucinating him on the bus sometimes .I'm glad the show writers are accurately portraying an emotional response to being sexually assaulted. As, regarding Maeve, I really feel bad for her regarding the quizbowl fiasco, its clear the reason why she just answered by herselrf ignoring her teammates is from her fear of being let down by others and as such she doesnt want to put trust in them, with things like her Mother, father, and brother abandoning her causing these feelings. Though now that Maeve's mom is back, it seems she's actually putting an effort to be their for Maeve, but I still completlely get why Maeve hates her, and is still calling her Erin and not mom because Erin failed as a mother for her. Also, looks like Otis x Ola is on rocky grounds now that Maeve confessed to Otis, and after he rejected her because it was too late, she texted him sorry and Ola read this (JUST AS OLA AND OTIS WERE GONNA HAVE SEX o_o), tbh I cant blame Ola for not wanting Otis to keep in contact with her. Also regarding Otis, my man just cant get any W's, not only did Maeve confess to him just when Otis forced himself to get over Maeve and date Ola, now he fucked up his relationship with Ola, after she saw the text Maeve sent him as Ola and Otis were trying to have sex. Also, damn, my boy Eric is caught between two potiential lovers, not only did he have an inimate moment with Adam at a junkyard and they kissed afterwards, with Eric keeping a momentum of the event, Rahim, the person Eric's been dating. just asked for them to be boyfriends, tbh I hope he chooses Adam, but Adam needs to get over hiding his sexuality imo. Also, looks likes theres trouble in Mr and Mrs. Groff's love life, I honestly feel bad for Mrs. Groff, unlike her husband she's actually a sweet person, and she deserves better than a man who doesnt seem sexually interested in her anymore. Also, I just gotta say, I'm loving Jackson and Vivian's almost siblinng like friendship, the banter between the two is always nice to see with the kinda smug Jackson and the serious Vivian. And, its clear Jackson is passionate about the school play and doesnt want to fuck it up. Now that Vivian and Jackson agreed to a deal, where Jackson helps Vivian swoon over a boy in exchange for Vivian helping Jackson with his lines, we're gonna see alot more of the two. And, looks like Remi, Jean's ex-husband is back in town, I cant wait to see more of the drama between Jean x Jakob, and Remi, also it'll be nice seeing some father and son bonding between Otis and Remi. Though ngl that ending scene was a twist, llooks like the spark between Remi and Jean isnt gone considering they just made out, while Jean is supposidly dating Jakob. Also, of course I cant forget, looks like the sex clinic is in trouble now that Jean is giving students professional sex therapy.
Im glad this show tackles serious topics with such care, with this episode exploring Aimee experiencing sexual assault. I feel bad for Aimee, now that the sexual assault incident is starting to set in for Aimee, its clearly causing trauma and pain for her, with her now not being able to go on the bus anymore, since that was where the sexual assault took place. Also Maeve really is a good person, with her dedicating her day to helping Aimee out to report the sexual assault case, Im glad Aimee has a friend like her by her side. Also, regarding Maeve, im so pissed that she chickened out on the confession to Otis, they had so many cute moments this episode, the chemistry between them is clearly not gone. Also, honestly Otis was a dickhead to his family this episode. I undertsand that he's angry with Jakob becoming such a big prescense in his life now that he's dating Jean, and Otis not wanting someone to sort of replace his own father, even given the shit his dad did. Also, the fact that Jakob is his girlfriend's dad cannot be any help to the dynamic at all. But regardless of this, he shouldnt be such an arrogant shit to everyone, I mean everyone else is trying hard to make this new dynamic work but Otis is still being a little shit about it. Also, regarding Adam, I feel bad for the kid, I mean he was unfairly kicked out of military school and now he's stuck at home, and even when he is trying to be a good son he still fucks up, looks liek Adam and Mr. Groff's relationship is not imrpoving any time soon, w/ Mr Groff compleltly giving up on Adam getting a formal education and now having him work at some convience store. On the bright side though, maybe Adam and Eric could get back together again. Regarding Eric, Im so happy for him, he finally has a boyfriend and they're seeming to get along great, Im glad Eric met Rahim. Also, I could never forget my boy Jackson, my mans becoming Troy Bolt, participating and nailing a school play audition thanks to the help of his tutor Vivian, finding something that he actually seems passionate about. Also, I just gotta say, Jackson and Vivian's friendship is so cute, I cant wait to see more of them.
Another solid episode, though tis painful seeing Otis and Eric being apart for so long. Looks like Maeve wrote an amazing essay, winning first place in the writing contest but sadly Adam gets the credit. Man I feel for Mr Groff ngl, I get why he's so dissapointed in Adam, btu I still do beleiev Mr. Groff constantly comparing adam to others contributed to his current attitude. Now that Mr Groff found out Adam cheated he essay, things are jsut gonna go downhill betwn the two and adam will probably be sent to military school. Looks like things between Maeve ancd Jackson are going swimmingly, but now that Maeve's brother is in the picture things might change. I dont really know whether I like Maeve's brother being introduced to the series right now, I feel like with all the drama between Eric x Otis, Eric x his Dad, Otis and his mom, and everything surrounding Maeve relationshiops and her lving situation, there really isnt room for Maeve's brother to be a big focus tbh, though im stilln interested in how he's gonna be used in the plot. Also, I really feel for Eric right now, he's constantly been fucked over in his life, and now this time it's been Otis, his best friend, whose let him down, I completlety get why he's just so pissed off right now which eventually lead to him punching Anwar and getting suspended, and his relationship with his dad isnt any better too. Eric's dad is clearly worried about his safety, beleiving that the lifestyle Eric's putting himself in will lead to a tough life for him and wanting him to stay safe, but Eric doesnt wanna hide who he is in spite of the trouble it might brew, I hope theyll eventulaly see eye to eye. Also, its clear the pressure of being this amazing swimmer, and or maybe just him being lonely, is getting to Jackson, wit him now slacking off on his practice to hang out with Maeve and her brother. Also I really fele bad for Otis, whose trying to overcome issues with his sexual repression, which seems to be rooted in seeing his dad cheat on his mom from this episode, and that attempted sex scene with Lily was so awkward to watch. Although not all sucks ffor Otis, he and that Ola girl are going to start dating soon which is nice. I hope Otis and Jean's relationship get bette tho, its clear htat Otis is pushing his mom away from him, and his mom just cant control herself and goes past boundaries Otis sets up. This was also a good epsideo for Aimee, who throughout this series has just been a people pleaser with no concern for hat she wants, Im glad that now she's actually considering what she wants to do, thanks to her boyfriend confronting this issue with her and otis's advice. And now, I hate Anwar a little less too, sjurprisngly, though he's still a massive dickhead. And Remi, Jean's ex husband, seems nice enough, and im ooking forard to see more interactions with him and Otis, though he's still a prick for cheating on Jean. Acting, music, and dialogue were solid as usual too.
Another solid episode. Seeing James in the past and him watching his mother commit suicide was an interesting opener, It seems like that was the incitiing incident which lead James onto this emotionless path, and its still having a toll on him as weve seen flashbacks to it throughout the series. I liked watching James and Alyssa's sort of journeys as they were seperated from eachother, they were constantly thinking about eachother and how they missed them. When James thought of Alyssa as someone who could care for him and Alyssa was worried about James I thought it was really sweet, seeing how far there relationship has developed. It was also a nice detail seing Alyssa bring the kid back even tho she could be arrested, its nice seeing scenes like that that shows her heart. Also im rooting for the lesbian cop, I hope they date eachother. Alyssa's mom is pretty shitty for a parent and Jame's dad seems like a good dude, who doesnt want James to get into trouble, I hope they can reconcile.
This was a really enjoyable special episode, showing us one of Eris' side adventures during the series. We also got introduced to a decent amount of new characters who'll likely be important to the series later on (Master Cliff, Miko of Memories, and Therese Latreia). I liked seeing an episode focused around Eris' character, and it was fun seeing her hunting goblins with Cliff and initiating a rescue mission of the Blessed Child.
I like the new Master Cliff guy, a gifted sage who was raised as a royal after his family was (seemingly) killed off by soldiers. His over-confident but wimpy personality was pretty fun to watch with Eris' abrasiveness in this episode. Also the little bits of new lore was quite appreciated with us learning more about the political conflicts between the demons and humans, and how the attackers (who work for the Pope) needed that Blessed Child because she's connects to the demons' struggle.
Also, the animation this episode was so beautiful and fluid when Eris was fighting against the soldiers, I just loved the choreography and art-style during that sequence.
This was a fantastic opening episode to the series, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the Roy family tear each other apart as they pursue a higher rank in Logan's media conglomerate, Waystar Royco. Firstly, on the theme song, it was beautifully composed. The way it place shots of modern era technology to old-fashioned tech to represent the long-standing legacy of the Roy media company, how they've lasted through massive technological and cultural change in the world, was fantastic, fully exemplifying the history and dominance of the conglomerate. Also, on reflection, I enjoy the Lawrence guy, the man who Kendall (barely) was able to make a business dealing with, with it heavily favoring Lawrence in terms of stock and money. I just liked seeing Lawrence shit-talk Kendall, mocking how unqualified he is for his job, and how reliant his is (an longer can be) on his father for protection.
Regarding the show's content, it's clear a big recurring theme of the series would be the power of greed on people's behavior, particularly it's effects on family bonds, with all of the Roy family (except Connor?) wanting the CEO position after Logan retires, and willing to take others down to raise their position in the company..The characters really are all detestable people (minus Marcia and Connor for now), with how little disregard they have for other people, just concerned about gaining power and not caring about what means they use to achieve it (with Kendall even talking shit about Logan behind his back to undermine him). Watching them all basically beg Roy for a top position really makes me cringe inside, seeing how shameless the family is. Moreover, from the man paying off the rural family to not expose Roman's petty actions at the baseball game, to the housekeeper cleaning up Logan and presumably Kendall's messes, its clear another recurring idea throughout the series is that someone will always be there to clean up the Roy family's messes from the shadows, as they carry out their lives. Succession is the perfect title for this show, fully capturing how this show will explore family rivalry's tearing each other apart as the Roy siblings fight for top positions and CEO in the Waystar media company, owned by their father, Logan Roy. Regarding Logan Roy, it's clear he's the top dog of the family, with him being the founder and CEO of the Waystar media company, and extremely powerful international media conglomerate. And man, its clear Logan's used to having his way with people, with him just doing as he pleases with no regards for others feelings, the relationships he's built with others, and promises he made with others (such as when he essentially tricked Kendall into signing papers that gave Marci, Logan's wife, double voting power and expecting the other Roys to do the same). But it's clear, from the opening scene of him peeing in a closet, that he's becoming old and needs to retire soon, and with today's surprising twist ending with him getting hospitalized, its looking like he may be forced to retire a lot sooner than he hoped.
First off there's Kendall Roy, the cocky businessman who prances about as if he owns the company, and has a strong desire to impress his father, and show he's worthy of the CEO position after he retires. And he's constantly doing his best to seek Logan's approval. Although, its clear Logan doesn't think he's ready, with him completely disregarding his more amicable approach to business dealings, believing he's too "soft," and also believing he may not be mentally fit for the CEO position, referencing him spending time in rehab for drug abuse (despite this being 3 years ago). Then there's Roman Roy, the crude, arrogant man who failed in executive instruction under 30-year company veteran Frank, but still slides his way into Logan's company, seeking more power under the conglomerate. And man, how shamelessly Roman belittled and toyed with that kid, ripping up the check in his face and telling him to go back to his humble life, really cemented Roman as the worst of the bunch, as someone obsessed with flaunting his unearned power and wealth over those below him.Connor Roy seems perfectly content with his rich, effortless life, having seemingly no desire to overtake the firm and is just going on about his days. There's Shiv Roy, the woman of the family, whose dabbling in politics but still wants the top position at the conglomerate. There's her boyfriend, Tom, who desperately seeks approval from Logan, and wants his respect, but just can't seem to achieve that, with Logan constantly disregarding him and his efforts. And it's looking like Tom's going to be taking out his frustrations on Cousin Greg, someone who he sees as below him and can be messed around with. . And then there's Greg, the most sympathetic of the bunch, and cousin of the Roys, an outcast and unknown relative to the Roy family whose just lost his job at one of Waystar's amusement park and is trying to wedge his way into Logan's good side to win over his favor (and thus help for another job).
I'm really looking forward to this show as someone whose going into this completely blind. The first episode was really interesting, with our main character, Steven Grant, being this British merchandise seller at an Ancient Egypt Museum, who has these huge gaps of memory loss throughout his daily life, and whose not really respected by anybody.
I liked how they showed how Steven's struggling with feeling like he's completely skipped huge gaps of time, with him constantly questioning where he is, what he did, and what he's said, and with Steven even wearing an ankle bracelet attached to his bed to stop himself from "sleepwalking"
I also cant wait to learn more about this Marc persona trapped inside Steven Grant, it seems like he's another person living inside Steven, with his disembodied voice warning Steven not to dig deeper into Marc and telling Steven what to do, and with Marc staring back at Steven in the mirror telling Steven to give up control. It seems like this Marc dude is a mercenary character, and he's been the one taking control of Steven while he's dormant, and has now stole this ancient Egyptian scarab from the Kummit deity. And, from Steven's breif call with Layla, it seems Marc has been doing his mercenary stuff for months within Steven's body.
I enjoyed the "fight scenes" of today's episode, I love the sounds effects when Marc took over Steven's body during the car chase and initial fight between Marc and the cult of Kummit. Although, I would like to actually see the fights between Marc and those cult members. I'm also looking forward to seeing more of the cult leader character, whose seemingly a messenger for Kummit, the god who judges people as good or evil, and enacts justice accordingly.
I'm also curious about who that scarecrow deity thing was that was ominously following Steven, and what its relationship is to him, or possibly Marc. Also, I really enjoyed the reveal of Moon Knight at the end, with Steven actually talking with Marc through the mirror and then giving up his body to Marc, with Marc then brutally killing the dog-like creature chasing them who was sent by the cult leader.
A fairly enjoyable episode. I'm so glad we learned more about Tatsuru and Mikoto's past and some unknown backstory to their relationship. 10 years ago, when Tatsuru first joined SunBev, he was an ambitious kid who was passionate about badminton and trying his best to balance his salary man and badminton life, but failing to succeed at either. That was until he met a young Mikoto playing in the park, and then they starting bonding together over badminton, with Tatsuru teaching him how to play the sport. And Mikoto said something which changed how Tatsuru viewed badminton, saying "You lose when it hits the ground," and these simple lines drove Mikoto into constantly pushing forward regardless of how difficult is was. And afterwards, right before Mikoto left back to Kyoto, Tatsuru gave him a shuttle feather and said they'll meet again if Mikoto continues badminton. 9ish years later, Mikoto just got kicked from Mitsuoshi Bank, and Tatsuru, after begging the coach to let him in, meets Mikoto at that same park and invites him onto the team.
Back to modern day, now Tatsuru, still dealing with a leg injury from years ago, leaves behind Mikoto and tries to abandon badminton, believing he's incapable of playing the sport anymore, and is now looking for reaffirmation to quit the sport all together from his old teammate Izumo. Of course Izumo calls out what Tatsuru's doing, using Izumo as an excuse to quit the sport, I assume Izumo because Tatsuru blames himself for Izumo quitting the team, while in reality Mitsuoushi just was much more promising in Izumo's eyes. Luckily Izumo notices this and calls out Tatsuru for this act, saying he'll see Tatsuru at the S/J League.
Also, back to current Mikoto, its clear he's struggling with being rejected by Tatsuru like that, after all Tatsuru is the one who dragged him back into the sport he loves back at his lowest point. And now, Mikoto has become a doubles player, relying on Tatsuru as a partner to always be there to back him up (as shown by when that one dude tested if Mikoto could really become a solo player again). And, after realizing that Tatsuru had a leg injury, realizing he needed him as a teammate, and realizing he was the man who introduced him to badminton 10 years ago, Mikoto ran back to Tatsuru trying to convince him to stay on the team and his doubles partner. Luckily, Tatsuru came back and now they're partners again, developing a new playing style with the old coach who taught Tatsuru how to play with his injury.
And now, after an entertaining montage of SunBev training for the upcoming tournament, the team is winning game after game, getting down to the top 4 teams. And tomorrow, they're have their fated rematch against Unisics.
Also, as a surprise ending, its looking like the head corporate dude of SunBev has had enough of their badminton team, and is planning on "Dealing With Miyazumi Tatsuru."
A nice conclusion to the story, I'm glad Wakana found someone like Marin, who completely his formerly lonely style of living life, givign him intimate memorable experiences that could only come about from a close friend. And man, I was really hoping there would be some romantic progression this episode, but it looks like that's going to take a while to blossom.
Such an amazing season of television. The cinematography was impeccable, I loved the fighting choreography and the visual storytelling which defined this show, particularly Fisk and the white wall, and Matt and boxing. The storytelling was great two, I loved watching Matt, Nelson and Karen edge closer and closer to unraveling the criminal doings of Wilson Fisk, as the learned more about more about the crime syndicates of Hell's Kitchen. The characters, besides Karen, were amazing too. I loved watching Matt/Daredevil's inner-struggle about the kind of man he is and will become as he continues on this path of vigilantism. And man, Wilson Fisk was one terrifying villain throughout the show, a calm composed man who has full control over everything and everyone, yet will become emotional and erratic over the people he loves, particularly his lover Vanessa. And man did the actors sell their performances, I loved seeing Vincent De'Onofrio act out this larger than life villain, and Charlie Cox perform Matt Murdock and Daredevil. And man, did I love the ideological and physical battles between the two, with both men wanting to rebuild Hell's Kitchen into a new city, and rid it of everything that's corrupt. And man, the setting felt for gritty and real, like it really was apart of New York City, and I really felt like the main cast was shaped by their upbringing in said environment.
Man this was just a cute ass epsiode, i loved seeing Marin and Wakana hanging out together as they were shopping for clothes, man I just cant wait for them to start dating already. Also, its looking like Sajuna is crushing hard on Wakana now, after taking in how much effort Wakana's put towards her passion and being appreciative of it. And, I liked the scene between Sajuna and Shinju, where Shinju truely realizes that even ppl like Sajuna who she idolizes deals with there own struggles and arent these perfect people. Also man, this show is horny.
Today's episode was cute, seeing Marin and Wakana banter as they were setting up Marin's cosplay, and seeing more insight into Marin;s character, how she isnt just the perfect person but also works and struggles towards her passions was sweet. Also, i'm glad todays episode fleshed out shinju inu a bit more, she's someone who wants to cosplay like her little sister, but is mired with self-doubt thinking it's too expensive and she's nothing like her character. I'm glad Wakana, despite obvious appereance issues, worked towards making a cosplay for Shinju, so she could live out her character that she admired. And man, the coplsay was surprisingly good, im glad she gets to join the photoshoot. Also speakin g of cosplas, man did Marin and Sajuna look like picture perfect recreations of there characcters. Also, like usual, im really enjoying the comedic bits of this show.
A good episode of development for Azuma and Mikoto. I'm glad we say the events of Interhigh and Mikoto and Azuma's relationship from Azuma's perspective now. Azuma who introduced Mikoto to badmitton and became duo partners with him, had become completely outshined in badmitton by Mikoto, casuign Azuma to feel inferior (especially when Mikoto was reccomended to Tobu High but he had to do entrance exams) and feel this need to catch up to Azuma so he isnt left behind. This lead to Azuma overworking his muscles and beign narrowing in on just catching up to Mikto rather than just becoming stronger in badmitton for his sake, and that overworked muscles, plus his falling down after Mikoto accidentally pushed him at the inter-high lead to him tearing a muscle (which Azuma blames himself for). And looks like I was right, Azuma's mad at Mikoto because he isnt giving it his all at this match, after everything Azuma has done to try and catch up to Mikoto, obsessing over not being left behind by Mikoto and his talent, this weakened version of Mikoto whose trapped in guilt over this event is all he's getting, making this reunion dissapointing for Azuma. I'm glad Mikoto was eventually able to overcome this, with him finally realizing Azuma doesnt blame him for the event and that he's having fun (once Mikoto started playing more seriously thanks to Tatsuru's plan), and then with Mikoto realizing the joy he had missed when playing badmittion, and man I'm glad he won. It's clear Azuma was a special person to Mikoto (if drunken Mikoto's love speech to Azuma wasnt clear enough) with Azuma being the first friend Mikoto had, opening up Mikoto's life and also introducing Mikto to the sport he loves, badmitton, and it mustve been painful for Mikoto to have run away from Azuma, ending his relationship with Azuma out of regret for injuring his best friend and almost ending Azuma's badmitton career (again in Mikoto's perspective, not Azuma who blames himself). Also, I'm really enjoying this friendship between Tatsuru and Mikoto blooming as Mikoto starts putting more faith into Tatsuru and enjyoing time spent with him, and according to that flashback at the end of today's episode, looks like a grownish Tatsuru new and hanged out with Mikoto as a child, that explains why when Tatsuru "first" met Mikoto he seemed so eager to be partners with him. Also, who is that black haired guy who apparently quitt the sunlight beverage badmitton team, its clear the show is planning to make him more plot-relevant later on and that he was a skilled player on the team, I wonder why he quit and now seems so apathetic to badmitton and the team. Also, it was sweet seeing Azuma and Tonozaki get closer together as duo-partners, while at first he seemed like this aggressive, passioante dude, its clear Tonozaki is a sweet guy whose just very open about how he feels when he feels it, and it was cute seeing him be self-concious over whether he's difficult to work with regarding his partnership w/ Azuma.
Another cute episode. We finally got to see Sajuna's character a bit more fleshed out, learning about how she, same as Wakana with his Hina dolls, after witnessing this captivating magical girl on TV has worked all throughout her life to become one, and when she finally could (as a cosplay) she became obsessed with cosplaying characters she had a strong emotional attachment to after seeing herself living out her childhood dream in an amatuer cosplay of her character. It also deepened her and Wakana's relationship too, with Wakana now being more emotioanlly driven to complete Sajuna's cosplay and now understanding just how deeply his words affected Gramps when Wakana said gramps' hina dolls were beautiful and Wakana wanted to become a hina doll crafter just like him. Also, Sajuna and Shinju's relationship is really heartwarming as sisters, seeing how pasisonite Shinju is in showing off how beautiful her sister is and supporting and essentially starting her public cosplaying career was sweet. Also, Shinju's reaction to being questioned about why she doesnt cosplay was quite ominous, is there some dark memories assosiated with cosplaying for Shinju, is it just nervousness/self-doubt, I hope that gets explored. And man, seeing Wakana and Marin at the beach during the first day of summer break was cute. Wakana playing in the ocean with Marin, describing the moment as beautiful (again a word he only uses when something has deep emotional importance to him) was a nice scene, and Im glad Wakana and Marin will be spending more time together during summer break. Also, I'm really happy for Wakana, all his life he's been obsessed with hina-dolls and perfecting his hina-doll crafting, never branching out and exploring other aspects of the world, I'm glad that (now that Marin has gotten into Wakana's life) Wakana is branching out into these new experiences he's never had before, enjoying all that life has to offer, and the scene with him just staring out into the ocean listlessly, almost as if he's taking in all the oppurtunies life has to offer, was a beautiful scene.
Like oil and water huh. Man this was an amazing episode. First, we got to learn more about Mia Maderda, and how her mother tried instilling the idea into Mia that you need to be able to go to war for some conflicts, beign diplomatic won't always be the solution, but because Mia rejected this idea, she was banished to Pultivor by her own mother, who seems to a warrior and leader in her home country. It makes sense that Mia know no longer wants Jayce to prep weaposn for war, realizing the consequences war can have for both sides, and that Jayce has no idea what he's getting his head into. But Mia's mom on the other hand, is going to do everythign she can to convince Jayce to go to war. Also, looks like Caitlyn and Vi failed their mission, thanks to Jinx stealing the crystal back at the last minute. Man, im surprised how much Silco seems to genuinally care about Jinx, the man was petrified by the fact that Jinx was half dead. And man, the doctor scene was terrfying and painful to watch, the tortorous lengths the doctor went through to save Jinx from near-death was gag-inducing, and watching Jinx's painful response to the treatment, plus the memories of her and Vi getting corrupted as she starts feeling like Vi replaced her with Caitlyn was painful to watch. Also, man the development Caitlyn has gone through has been amazing, Im surprised i'd like a character this much. Going from a person who naively had faith inn Pultivor and there government, to being exposed to the inhumane lif people living in the under city experience on a daily basis, while the people of Pultivor get to live laviouhly in a progressive technological hub, with no care or even acknowledgement of the conditions of everyone down below, and thus wanting change in how things functions, not just accepting that the pultivor governemt can sit back and relax as people are starving below. Man, I'm glad Caitlynn's mom allowed Caitlyn and Vi an audience with the council members, and ofcoruse all the council memebrs gave no solutions for the issues, but they were atleast able to convince (altho admittedly most Vi later on) Jayce to help. Looks like Jayce is now going to be fighting alongside Vi to take out all of Silco's manufacturing facilities for Shimmer so that the people of Zaun will turn on Silco and Silco will be taken down. Man the fighting animation is so good in this show, I loved how dynamic and stylized it was as Jayce and Vi were beating up dudes in robot armor w/there HexTech weapons. Though things didnt feel as fun when the reality of what Jace and Vi have done started setting into Jayce's mind, with Jayce seeing all the death they've caused, including a child who was forced to work for Silco. Also man, looks like Victor succedeed in using the magical orb to enhance his body and heal himself, but then a woman was evaporated by the very orb Viktor used to heal himself, hopefully this moment shows Viktor how serious the magic tech is and he calms down with using it so much. Also, poor professor heimerdinger, the man was completely correct about Viktor and Jayce not messing around with magic tech, and its looking like his fears are playing out into reality, and now that he was fired, there's nothign Prof H can do. Although, now that he met Ekko, maybe they could do soemthign together, unless Ekko just decides to stay back at his hideout and help his people there. Also, its starting to look like there might be an uprising within Zaun, with people like Sevika (who originally betrayed Vander to help Silco) thinkign that Silco's attachment to Jinx is holding him back and some other ppl wanting change in the leadership of Zaun. Also man, did Vi really have to do Ciatlyn like that, say that Caitlyn should just stay with the royals and forget about her, since theyre from two different worlds and as such could never get along, I mean Caitlyn and Vi were so close with eachother. Also, its looking like Caitlyn might be fucked, with a transformed (thanks to the doctors brutal surgery) Jinx whose out for blood right behind her.
