This show would have been so much shorter if Logan died he is straight up vile. I'm finally starting to like this show more and... :nauseated_face: ENJOY it. I'm invested now in whatever bullshit these horrible people are doing even if a lot of the dialogue still annoys me and I still hate the editing. Jeremy Strong's acting as Kendall has grown on me too as this very inauthentic and rude tech business man who is unlikable but unfortunately realistic, even if some of how he is played is still a bit Muppet-like to me. The way that Roman's dialogue is written in particular still gets on my nerves, though, but I'm trying to remind myself that that is the point and it's not necessarily the writing it's just how he acts. <=coping

i love when characters who have really optimistic morals have them worn down and tested to the point of them losing their anger. anyways these 2 episodes reminded me this is a childrens show but like it was funny. dont tell your dad to shut up or he will cry.

i think its interesting how ryu's own values are reflected in the way that he talks about the girls father to her; with him talking about how her father really did love her even though he was absent and how he was just choosing his duty to protect people over her, like how he talks about how the jetman should do the same, and he says, too, that he believes her father was trying to pass down that duty to her. i think the interaction between these 2 characters in this episode was interesting

I hate Kendall so much..... Roman is annoying, but he's slightly more tolerable and I don't think Kieran Culkin was a horrible casting choice for him. He plays the character fine even if he isn't making the painfully awkward dialogue work like Braun does, but I genuinely think that they casted Kendall wrong or am I crazy. Like this character is fucking insufferable not in the way that the show wants him to be like in a "this guy is a bad person." Like I said in my comment on the first episode, so many of these jokes are run to the ground and are not funny. The writing of this show does not allow for the implied humor of situations or the implied drama of a situation and it seems like lines are added that are the equivalent of the actor turning to the audience and saying "Did you guys get that one? That was a bit." There are plenty of examples from this episode, but the first one that comes to mind is the part where Roman and Kendall are talking and Roman makes a joke about how he says some sort of business related thing during sex, and if they left it off at that comment it would have just been an okay joke, but then he keeps going on it and it stops being remotely funny, and for an office family drama, this show sure does have a lot of unfunny beaten to the ground sex jokes. In contrast, there is occasionally a scene where it DOES just let you sit there and watch the performances and take a funny situation as funny without the dialogue trying to play wiseguy. For example, my favorite scene in this episode is when Tom proposes to Shiv while her father is critical condition and after having to remind him that that was really weird for him to do, her acceptance of it is her saying "yeah whatever" and it was genuinely funny! And that bit had build up! I wish there were more bits like that than whatever Kendall and Roy have going on and I wish that the actual dramatic parts had dialogue that was written in a way that was not infuriating because I do understand the themes here and respect it, but the execution so far is not pleasing me.

This show is not well to look at. The coloring and lighting are dull, and the Office editing is annoying and makes the already weak sense of humor eye roll worthy. There is the potential for a lot of hilarious jokes here and it's clear that some of these scenes are supposed to be funny, but the dialogue and the way that the lines are executed by the actors (Nicholas Braun exempt, Greg is really funny to me) just makes it awkward and runs the bit into the ground. Like, for example, during the baseball game, when Roman calls over that kid to help him play baseball, I chuckled, but then the dialogue and acting just was not good during a genuinely funny scenario. Even if this wasn't clearly something that was supposed to be comedic, the serious and dramatic parts of this episode were either funny on accident or were also made awkward due to the dialogue. This is especially the case when it pertains to Kendall, who I cannot stand. The way that Jeremy Strong plays this character is so infuriating I feel like this was not the correct casting choice, so when he's talking to Lawrence and says things for example about putting a silver dildo violently up his ass, for example, there is no bite to it, and that's how so much of the dialogue for this episode is. If this was intentional, I'm not sure why that decision was made. I am not a fan. I will be watching episode 2. One thing I will give it is that the format of this as a pilot episode was well done because it sets up all the conflicts between the characters and then ends with a dramatic action that pulls apart the events of the episode and leads nicely into the rest of the show.

not a huge fan of the premise of this episode - extremely awkward position to be in: if you dont acknowledge the crush this child has on you then she will be in danger. was nice to hear gai's character insert song, though, and gai really is growing as a person
i love this episode, it's so surreal and the visuals and editing are off the wall and like genuinely a little off-putting at times. surprisingly experimental

This episode is good I wish that there were more episodes in this season about each character learning and growing and interacting with each other because it's episode 43 and they're all incredibly 2 dimensional. Like it would be one thing if they were 2 dimensional and the plot were super interesting or entertaining, but ngl there is nothing about this overall story that justifies or makes up for it

every once in a while this season starts alluding to themes of science and its relationship to war (particularly world war ii, which makes sense since this is a japanese show and the episode about the big gun is a not subtly a metaphor for nuclear weaponry) and violence and then doesn't elaborate further
this is the first episode of this season i think that had very adult themes regarding their position as scientists who protect the earth from danger. i kind of wish that they would make another science based season since from what i've seen modern sentai seems to be more willing to dive into talking about stuff like that. which of course, this is a show aimed towards children, so im not mad at it about not talking about adult themes LOL
in 1983 they can try and assassinate dyna red by putting a bomb in his wine, but in 2018 the lupinrangers cant even share a beer

clown rei kicking ass with an umbrella while carmen overture plays in the background is everything to me. the entire fight at the carnival is fantastic. its so goofy and i love all of the costume changes definitely one of my favorite fights so far it was so fun

ohhh my god they gave him a little guy. i really appreciate the emphasis on helping children in this season bc like they know their target audience. if i watched this when i was little i would have adopted all these men as my older brother
