I like Whelan & Van Dien so decided to give this B creature flick a chance tonight. The CGI is from the 90s and even without a budget of more than $15 the writing let down the actors as well with wooden dialogue and awful choices. I still had moments of "so bad it's good" but few and far between. 1.7/10. Worst movie I've rated in years.

hahaha, I think you're being awfully harsh @quabiti. Those CGI gators were so believable that your score isn't reflective of their true glory. That said, using a decimal'd 10 pt scale making it a 100 pt scale allows all this extra nuance to debate 1.6 vs 1.7 bangers. Super necessary.

Last Sentinel

Like most of my dates, what I think is going to have action turns out to be psychological drama.

If the poster were four people sitting in an empty room instead of a lone outpost surrounded by a furious storm, I might've been better prepared.

@saint-pauly Lol. Well said. I can handle a low budget slow burn, but this really tested my patience. 4.8

Some really over the top millennial cringe moments (by design), but overall it was alright. I wish there was more of a particular character than we got (seasonal depression sufferer. won't know who unless you've seen it so that's not a spoila). 6.3 for me.

@the_argentinian Ah yes good ol' gen Z. Much obliged. That said more than half the cast are millennials if one subscribes to the 1996 and earlier timeframe for that generation.

The Capture

Loved this show but something is weird about the episode data (at least here in Sweden). Various TV guides said Season 1 contained 8 Episodes. And I’ve actually watched the 8 episodes. But in Tivo’s TV guide the last 2 episodes were listed as S2 E1 and S2 E2.

@formfranska yes this threw us for a loop in Canada. It aired in the UK as 6 55-60 minute episodes and then they broadcast it as 8 x 40-45 min eps everywhere else (at least through amazon prime) it seems. I expected episode 6 to be the conclusion and then realized there was still two episodes to go. The cutoff points between episodes were quite bizarre and now I know why.

It's so much fun. It knows what type of movie it is and delivers. The story kept me on my toes. The ensemble cast is terrific. Chris Evans having a blast playing an asshole, Ana de Armas is great, and Daniel Craig playing a detective with a funny accent is a treat. I want to see this again knowing the plot so I can look for all the subtle foreshadowing.

After a rewatch I am even more impressed with how good the script is and how much is set up and paid off. This one is of the better movies of the year.

@nmahoney416 you're mah man, Neal. For whatever reason your reviews always show up at the top for me in the movie mate app I use, and we are within 1 pt of grades for 90% of flicks it seems. I was already confident I'd like this, but a Neal 8 solidifies it. Cheers. No pressure right? Hehe.
