[6.7/10] This one just barely squeaks into near-“good” territory for all the quality Jenny/Kevin material. The two of them realizing that their League-endorsed foul mouths and wheeling-and-dealing attributes have been passed down to Ellie is a fun and relatable bit. And there continues to be a less sentimental Marshall/Lily vibe that’s very winning when they’re playing off one another. Plus, I got a big kick out of Kevin’s freakout at the end, which was well played by the actor, and the kind of more personal, less cartoony brand of loonyness I wish we got more of.
Beyond that, the episode was, at best, hit or miss. I liked the contrived but amusing twist that Ellie mistakes Ruxin for the Elf on the Shelf, but Ruxin continues to be an annoying and continually broad character, and the whole chicken milk stink bomb thing was more dumb sitcom humor. Taco’s “Merry Eggsmas” thing was similarly dumb without enough redeeming weirdness or comedy to make it work. And the less said about the 10th grade humor of Peter injuring his penis because of his girlfriend’s overly strong vagina the better. And the fact that it turns into yet another mutual blackmail scheme from the people who are nominally friends makes me roll my eyes.
Overall, a lot of The League’s usual dross in this one, but the stuff with McArthur’s raises it up a notch.
