This episode is similar to the first one in that it starts slowly and gradually becomes more and more engrossing and suspenseful. The characters swear a lot but I am not bothered by this as I am not a native English speaker. Apart from the swearing, there are lots of interesting business vocabulary to be learned, and the characters are definitely interesting and not one-dimensional. I have read many positive reviews of the show and wanted to check it out, so far I enjoy it and I guess I would continue watching it, especially as the episode ends of a bit of a cliffhanger.
This episode kept up with the laughs. The dynamic between Roman and Siobhan is hilariously childish in its casually peevish sibling rivalry, but I think the most hateable character to come out of this episode is Tom, who's even more feckless than Kendall, while being more capriciously psychopathic than Roman. So, high on the narcissism and psychopathy arms of the dark triad, but weak on effective Machiavellianism. Such a punchable face. Still, when he walked in on Roman and Shiv tussling in the presentation room only to immediately turn heel and walk out without a word, it absolutely sent me. Rava and Marcia are still the most intriguing characters to me so far, as long as they are adequately developed.
The profusion of coarse, demeaning expletives is a bit much, but these are supposed to be the shit-spawn of an American media magnate.
i am so. BORED. OUT. OF. MY. MIND. How has this been renewed for Season 2 already??
I'm still expecting for it to take off. I have heard this show is great.
Even better written and funnier than the first episode.
Enjoyed this episode far more than the pilot. They mercifully toned down the insane camerawork and editing, and I vibed more with the writing and the characters. This show has a far different feel to it than what I expected, but I think I might be starting to get on its wavelength.
The performances are still the highlight for me above all else. Amazing work from all the actors.
A bit of a let down after the first episode, though an expected narrative cool down. Episode felt a little long and there was a lot here that didn't work for me. Some of the Kendall-Shiv-Roman (and Frank-Connor) back and forth worked - but it felt overplayed. The Tom character is extremely hard to read and not in a clever written way. Greg is our entry point, but is pretty unrelatable.
The reveal at the end of the episode feels like they rushed through some storylines. Will be interesting to see where it goes.
lol I understand why kendall gets called babygirl now
The vultures are circling - still not seeing any redeeming qualities in any of those people. All of them greedy, self-centered - and downright idiotic.
I think I'm going to give this season to the halfway mark... hopefully it'll pick up speed and my interest by that point.
«You’re wet, you’re green, you’re intellectually insecure, you have addiction issues».
«That’s enough!»

«Ti manca il killer instinct, sei intellettualmente insicuro e non abbastanza solido emotivamente, hai problemi di dipendenza».
I don't know what to think about the old man's wife. I prefer people I know what to expect, like everyone else, who I don't expect anything.
I hate Kendall so much..... Roman is annoying, but he's slightly more tolerable and I don't think Kieran Culkin was a horrible casting choice for him. He plays the character fine even if he isn't making the painfully awkward dialogue work like Braun does, but I genuinely think that they casted Kendall wrong or am I crazy. Like this character is fucking insufferable not in the way that the show wants him to be like in a "this guy is a bad person." Like I said in my comment on the first episode, so many of these jokes are run to the ground and are not funny. The writing of this show does not allow for the implied humor of situations or the implied drama of a situation and it seems like lines are added that are the equivalent of the actor turning to the audience and saying "Did you guys get that one? That was a bit." There are plenty of examples from this episode, but the first one that comes to mind is the part where Roman and Kendall are talking and Roman makes a joke about how he says some sort of business related thing during sex, and if they left it off at that comment it would have just been an okay joke, but then he keeps going on it and it stops being remotely funny, and for an office family drama, this show sure does have a lot of unfunny beaten to the ground sex jokes. In contrast, there is occasionally a scene where it DOES just let you sit there and watch the performances and take a funny situation as funny without the dialogue trying to play wiseguy. For example, my favorite scene in this episode is when Tom proposes to Shiv while her father is critical condition and after having to remind him that that was really weird for him to do, her acceptance of it is her saying "yeah whatever" and it was genuinely funny! And that bit had build up! I wish there were more bits like that than whatever Kendall and Roy have going on and I wish that the actual dramatic parts had dialogue that was written in a way that was not infuriating because I do understand the themes here and respect it, but the execution so far is not pleasing me.
