I was wrong in my previous comment, this episode provides the most important contribution to the series--the Riker maneuver. Also, I really liked the small scene between Worf and Wes, and the later scene between Wes and Picard. Great writing and acting in both.

A fantastic episode! Excellent performances from the entire cast, and a great story!

@finfan I really liked this episode. It was nice to see the training of Wesley. As a Star Wars fan, it was something I wanted to see in the Prequels: watching Anakin make difficult choices during his training at the Jedi Academy. Choices that change a person.
I also liked the fact that this episode was about choices. For Wesley and Picard.
The news that something is wrong in Starfleet was interesting. I hope the writers had the chance to develop the issue.

Seems a bit early in the show's run to be doing an episode where they callback to previous adventures, and also give a character the choice of a career change. It's obvious something so drastic wouldn't happen this early.

I don't know if this was some sort of special early admittance or whatever, but Starfleet only accepting 1 out of 4 applicants seems incredibly inefficient and non-sustainable.

Those office chairs they use on the Enterprise look comfortable as hell. I want one.

Not fair only 1 cadet can be chosen!

When you have 26 shows a season, sometimes you need a filler show
