Virgin Memento Mori vs Chad Balance of Terror

Also, The Gorn?? Really?? So they're the big bad now, like The Borg... gagh

Burnham, we can't escape STD can't we?

How convenient that a completely alien species that communicates through strobe lights also just so happens to have a 26-based alphabet, which directly translates to-and-from English .

That really was a close one.

A blue shirt sacrificed himself to save a red shirt? What?

I had so hoped they show us a Gorn. It wouldn't be breach of canon as long as they don't see each other. And if you've just seen the classic Gorn episode (like I did) the Gorn are not very frightening to be honest.
Otherwise decent story. But everyone must have some form of trauma today ? Why is that ? And can someone please put a gag on Ortegas. Her snippy comments are totally out of place for a bridge officer.

I’m really liking the character development in this series. I don’t have to wait until season 6 to learn something important about someone on the bridge crew.

I don’t dislike this format especially with less episodes. That means less filler. Hopefully.

Anson Mount is quite watchable as captain. I'm kind of surprised at how much I am enjoying this show,

I wasn't too crazy about this.

This show just keeps getting better. Is it perfect? Of course not, and it still shows signs of growing pains. But it's also not pretentious or bloviating or any of the other things that have soured me on both Discovery and Picard to the point that I dropped the former after two seasons and have since put the latter on double secret probation. Plus, this one has none of the red flags along those lines that I saw in both of those other shows long before they got completely out of hand. Instead, this one continues to show its respect for the original while giving itself just enough room to be itself, and it does it all with a clear love for the source material.

Super cool how this episode became like a world war 2 submarine film. I got Das boot vibes from it!

this was like 7 TOS episodes crammed into one... and I, personally, am just fine with that

Star Trek meets The Hunt for Red October.
Small inconsistency in the episode: the cargo bay is shown with its door open the whole episode, except it is shown opening near the end of the episode when they have to eject something.

Best episode so far. Good old-fashioned TOS style action. Slightly ruined by woke Hollywood just having to throw in crew-person BS instead of just saying they lost one crew full stop.

Easily my favorite episode of the series so far. The story was intense, had stakes and was able to tell a story involving all the crewmembers in a meaningful way. And a special nod to the special effects and score. Overall a stellar episode.

How are they beaming down guns ready? Aren’t they not allowed to go in hostile? I would certainly take that as a threat

Finally!!! Someone using the Frankenstein reference properly. Frankenstein wasn’t the monster it was the name of the doctor.

Reminded me of Balance of Terror with a little of helping of The Best of Both Worlds. And how is it possible M'Benga directly transfuses his own blood to Number One who's of an entirely different species? Less Uhura would be good as well. She's not yet crossed over to annoying but she's on her way there.
