End of this month I'll turn sixty. I really like this show. I am reminded of when I was twenty-eight, and really liked Doctor Who, and, then learned, in England, it was primarily a kids show.
Begs the question: What is the target audience of this Nickelodeon show? Just don't beat yourself up if you also.... Or, is the question, "You may be a Trekkie if...you enjoy everything Star Trek"...?
And, be gentle, with yourself and others. (quote from Shunryu Suzuki: "Instead of criticizing, find out how to help.")
So glad this has been renewed on Netflix after being cancelled earlier!
This show is awesome, I loved every second of it! While I do love the playful thing that Lower Decks is trying to do in its own way, this show is something else. It really gives us an extra-ordinary new crew, an awesome new ship, a new way to travel, and a new generation to enjoy adventures with - there's so much to connect with, in a slightly more traditional Trek way. Every Trek show has their own people you get to love, and their own personalities, but this crew has such an amazing and inspirational team. And who would have thought that they would bring back Janeway and Chakotay in such a fun way? Very curious what happened with the crew, and if we are ever going to find out!
Love it hope they make more
Ahh, the sound of the nattering naybobs of Trekdom furiously trying to clap with one hand. You see, unless a program meets the narrowly specific parameters of what they will accept as "proper" Star Trek lore. Reminds me of those YouTube videos of entitled 16 year old's getting a new Lamborghini or BMW, and then pitching an absolute fit because it wasn't the color they desired. "This is NOT the Trek I was looking for"...... OK Obi Wan Kensnobby you win, we'll all go sit in the basement and watch reruns of the original series, or better yet, just the SPECIFIC EPISODES in each series that meet with your awesomely discerning taste. They rest you may send to the cornfield!!!!
Personally, I thought the producers and writers did a pretty good job of giving us a brand new crew, a brand new ship, an at least interesting situation as far as the story arc, while maintaining the connection to traditional "Trek" with appropriate amounts of fan service and character call backs. The animation, stylistically, is light years ahead of what is offered on "The Lower Drecks, er...Decks", and, the storytelling is aimed more toward the dramatic rather than the comedic. If that's not your thing, cool, but, neither should it be dismissed out of hand.
Personally, I found the amount of tension, thrills and FUN just about right, and the mix of immediate story and long arc balanced enough to hold my attention and leave me wanting more. Again, for a show aimed at the Nickelodeon demographic, that's no small feat IMO.
So yeah, I plan to continue watching it, and, it will be interesting to see if this version of the "Trekverse", can go where the others haven't gone before, or if the naybob's will be successful in stirring up enough negativity to eject the warp core and leave the crew stranded.
This looks VERY promising, especially with Jason Mantzoukas, and Captain Janeway herself, Kate Mulgrew onboard!

A long time a go, Voyager was my first taste of star trek, it's still 1 of my favorites So this show as a sort of afteer story is great. Still hope some of the other crew will show up one day. Seeing Tom Paris thit apear in Star Trek Lower Deks he shoot visit Prodigy to rite???
Fore those who don't now Voyager no reason not to watch it's still great whit out it. there are some references you will miss maybe and it's harder to get the relation ship between Janeway and Chakotay but not a problem.
Drom the picture and title of the show it looks like another nail in the coffin...
:heart:x7
This is surprisingly good. The animation is superb. Sadly we only have 5 episodes for now.
Update: So they doled out the episodes in 3 parts I believe which i find to be very annoying. Anyway, we finally got all 20 episodes for season 1 and the show is still excellent.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Not really my cup of... coffee, black.
Very confused. Episode one should be both parts 1 and 2 of the premier. This should be labeled episode 2. Most sources call it as such. Not sure how it could be corrected but I'll survive.
It's a kid's show but I like it. I admit the franchise is in a sorry state when 2 cartoons are better than the "flag ship" but at least this show is in line with the Roddenberry spirit. Something I simply can not say about "Disco" nor "Picard". This show is the equivalent of "The Bad Batch" in this universe. I think it's the ideal gateway show for new Trekkies, my 8 year old loves it.
So generic and formulaic it could be dropped into any sci-fi setting, or none at all, and it would be equally forgettable. Time and energy would have been better spent making more episodes of of Star Trek: Lower Decks, a vastly superior show.
More bottom of the barrel TV posing as Star Trek. Not as bad as Lower Drecks but then again nothing can be, but it's still terrible.
Not bad so far, I really enjoyed it!
I can't wait. This is gonna be good. Janeway knows a wayward crew when she sees one.

This is one of the best Star Trek shows we have had in a long time. Idc how old you are.
The cameo easter egg voices are a reason alone to watch this!
This wayward crew is just so... Idk, sweet? You can't help but love them. If you dont think this is Trek, i can't help you. Really. It screams it.
The animation is cool, too. I liked it... I wasn't sure about it at first.
