Awesome show..fantastic character development..reminds me of the Sopranos
Amazing, outstanding show, Liev Shreiber is incredible in this role, and all the others are incredible it like you are there with them and you come to know them. The cast is incredible You hate them and relate to them and love them. It will keep you hooked till the end and never fails to keep you on edge. 10/10 for this show. This show will never get what you expect that is the beauty of this show. Perfect.
Great show ruined by AWFUL cast, still can't get over how annoying his wife is & the daughter always gets on my nerve. And the bad acting by his drunk brother.
Poor Liev deserved a better cast for sure!
Best show on tv
I loved this show, too bad it's not going to have an 8th season! :(
Talented cast for this series. Sometimes, you could feel the emotions that the characters would go through as if you were with them right there. Good plot, I loved it, even though a season or two made me too frustrated and felt depressing (although, it's the point) I stopped watching it for a while and finished it at my own pace. Really good stuff. I recommend it to anyone. You're going to love it, too.
Good show! It's not the favorite series I've watched, but it's a good solid show. I'd recommend it.
I really loved the first 2 episodes and I thought I had a new favourite with the way Ray is a fixer - how he solves his shit by being a bit borderline immoral himself..... but then it started to become a drag and boring, developing more into some 2nd rate wannebee mafia families series, but not quite getting there. I havent even bothered finished watching season 1, although the last episodes are already waiting for me on the media player. sorry to say, but after a great start, it has become utterly boring.
I tried to give it a go. But after 5 eps, it still didn't hold my attention. Character and story development were too slow.
Lost me. Great actors but very very weak, slow and loose story.
A truly amazing show. All the characters, though some might seem hollow, are extremely developed and interesting, the story is intriguing without becoming cliche and the show just keeps changing and evolving. Definitely recommended to everyone.
Absolutely LOVE this show, never miss an episode! Once u get to know the characters, u can't help but love them, or love to hate some of them. One of my favorite shows this time of year! I hope to see many more seasons as great as the past 3 have been, looking forward to at least 3-4 more great seasons!
Ray says so much w/so little. His character is so deep you & intense, there r many layers to Ray Donovan. Liev Schreiber deserves some awards for this character!
Outstanding tv show with premium performances !!!!
This is a show with undeniable character work. There are few examples of things that I would call "perfectly cast" and this dives into the heart of that sentiment. Each and every person has a palpable relationship to the next and they are allowed to sit in their flaws. The time given to side plots isn't wasted. The standouts are Mickey, Abby, and Terry.
The haunting power of family is what carries this show. I was a little let down with the "violent tough guy anti-hero" nature of Ray, but the series evolves past the idea that it's about him and his bad-assery. "Rotting' is the word that comes to mind. Like everyone is being eaten from the inside in the best kind of way.
I give it a 7 because it is a good show. It's amazingly cast, intimately told, good, show. It's not genre bending. It's not "smart." It's not much beyond its cast's ability to carry out plot lines and scenarios you'll probably see coming. I don't like to give extra credit because the writers aren't lazy as that should be a staple of respecting your creation and those portraying it. The closest analogue that comes to mind is The Sopranos, but there's a reason that show I find practically perfect, and this one "good."
let's hope for a season 8
Praying Netflix picks it up to continue the story.
Loved the first 4 seasons but season 5 is a non-starter so far. Waiting............waiting...........waiting for it to get going.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant in case you missed that bloody brilliant
Fantastic and quite addicting to watch!!! A must see for people who like it badass!!
Best series of ALL time!
Great show. Would like more episodes per season though. Something like 20+. Have a break at 13eps then come back on for the last part of the year. I hate having to wait so long between seasons. Still its a great show and 13eps are better than none at all ;o)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! June can't get here fast enough for my Ray fix!!
omg!!! i'm speechless,... mejor no pudo estar, ...best season ever. #RayDonovan #season3
'walk this way'directed by the star has been my fav. episode so far tthis year.the show is a fun ride so far.
5 баллов! Хороший старт, все четко, без лишних соплей.
Good start to the series. I'm going to keep watching this one. The characters are interesting and the story has potential for a lot of depth if they can keep it going. I've never seen an ad for this show. I've only heard about it from friends.
Yeah. Awesome show, the slow buildup is very promising. Totally ninja.
Stylistically very cool with a distinct look and feel. You expect a shallow but fun show, but it really is nowhere near as bland as it looks.
Without the movie finish, this series would have gone down as one of the worst series endings of all time up there with Game of Thrones for me, but the movie saved it and gave it it's perfect ending I needed!
A genuinely awesome show. Every episode is masterfully crafted. Ray Donovan is an amazing character, every turn he takes presents another challenge. Casting is amazing too, Liev Schreiber handles the role perfectly.
Great show. A must to see :)
This TV show could totally be a video game, GTA V style. (: No?
Good Show, I love it
This week I binged this total series to date (62 episodes - 1.1 to 5.12). What attracted me was the critical acclaim of this gritty drama. It's about a Southie Irish Catholic family transplanted from Boston to Los Angeles, California. Warning: it's violent, salacious and filled with nudity and course language, but if that doesn't put you off, the story-telling is superb, poignant and deeply human. It is about living out the consequences of choices made by, or forced upon, you, all the while being in the business of removing people from the consequences of their own bad decisions. Pure Irony. The acting is superb, and there is a treasure trove of cameos by top billed actors from past decades playing small character parts, some unrecognizable, yet still brilliant. And there are also stars featured in major plot threads, as well. Great ensemble of regulars. Riveting tension. Creative story lines. Complicated relationships. Just great TV. I give it a 10 (engrossing) out of 10. And I'm glad to hear it has been renewed for a 6th season in 2018. [Crime, Drama, Thriller]
Ray Donovan is a show produced by Showtime. The network is known for hits such as Dexter and Homeland. The story follows Ray Donovan, a Boston born family man with Irish descent living in LA. Ray works as a ‘Hollywood Fixer.’ In simpler terms, he gets rid of problems for the rich and famous. Say when a Hollywood star wakes up next to someone who’s not their wife, or in some cases, have murdered someone, they call Ray. He cleans the mess up, at a price of course. His dodgy line of work obviously presents problems, especially when he mixes up with the wrong people. Whether its street gangs or billionaires, Ray always gets out unscathed. This is a reoccurring problem with the show, Ray seems almost untouchable. Emotionally he struggles, however his family usually feel the backlash of his actions. This presents him as a character we’ve seen many times before.
Ray’s dysfunctional family also presents many issues. His wife, Abby, is also Boston Born. This means the chemistry there is perfect, but it’s a Skyler from Breaking Bad situation. Abby’s purpose in the series is usually as an obstacle, or stopping Ray from reaching his goals. His daughter, Bridget, is the cliché rebellious teenage girl. She constantly goes against her parents, and it’s almost as if the series is using Bridget to create plot lines. His son, Conor, is also rebellious. In the earlier seasons of the show, Conor looks up to his grandfather, instead of Ray. There is plenty of conflict between Ray and his two children. Ray has two brothers, and one stepbrother. His older brother, Terry, has parkinson’s in his left arm and is more or less the moral compass out of the siblings. The youngest brother, Bunchy, is perceived as child like. He regularly makes immature choices or mistakes that his older siblings have to clean up. One of the most interesting characters is Ray’s father. Mickey Donovan serves as a constant antagonist to Ray, his family and his colleagues. Back in Boston, Mickey was a horrible father. His daughter committed suicide in her late teens. The death of their sister twenty years prior to the setting of the show is a plague that forever haunts the brothers. Mickey’s storyline is always exciting, whether it involves a heist or getting involved with the Armenian Mafia. He serves as a constant reminder of the Donovan’s dodgy past, and how their past haunts them to this day. The tie between the family is one of the stronger parts of the series, and really does hold both the characters and the show together.
Although the show has many positives, it also has a number of negatives. Ray’s character first of all isn’t new to us. He’s a typical antihero, and the plot doesn’t do much to differentiate him from other characters in the same category, such as the previously mentioned Sopranos leading character, Tony Soprano. The show also doesn’t do much to help us like Ray. He has very few happy moments, which brings up the question; can a show be too dark? His character can be stale, emotionless and at times annoying. In the later seasons you do see Ray become more emotionally attached to the things you’d expected him to be attached to in the earlier seasons. Ray becoming more emotionally engaging also means we get to see his dramatic high and lows, and how he comes to terms with mistakes made in the past and dealing with his father.
Overall, Ray Donovan is a typical crime drama with a sprinkle of family drama added. Despite its efforts, the show brings nothing new to the table. The family aspect of the show however does help it out, as the complicated relationship between the Donovan’s are so intriguing and engaging. Ultimately the show is trying to be something it’s not, and has picked an unfortunate time to come about, as the crime family drama genre is becoming ever stale, as we’ve seen it so many times before.

If you are ever feeling overly euphoric, just watch an episode of Ray Donovan and you will be brought back down to planet Earth with a resounding thump! The series, characters and all seasons (up to and including 4 have been genius.

First season's can either be a blessing or a drag on the series overall. Ray's first season centers around a story of child molestation by a Catholic priest and what it does to Ray's family. It sets up the entire premise of who and why Ray is the way he is, along with his brothers and father.
Looks like another great piece of work from the brilliant minds from the Showtime network!

Hot damn...Never before has a tv show said so much without anybody actually saying anything. Liev is absolutely captivating, he deserves an Emmy for his preformance on this series.
