Although the story will not be told, the music will be presented with settings costumes that interpret the true "wonderland" flavor. Twelve-year-old Kathy Beaumont who acted the part of Alice for the animation of the film, will join the Pennsylvanians in the interpretations. Sterling Holloway, Disney's Cheshire Cat, will also be there. But, with the exception of little Kathy and Holloway, all parts will be taken by the Waring staffers. Six of the songs from the film will be launched with the aid of all the Pennsylvanians. Mary Blair, Disney set designer, has adapted the sets to television and the whole show's sure to be a gay, charming event. "I can think of no one in this cockeyed world better equipped to introduce the music from "Alice in Wonderland" than Fred Waring and Pennsylvanians," says Walt Disney. We agree fully.

Walt takes us to the Studio Morgue where great ideas stored here are used in future projects. He also talks with Winston Hibler about the making of another True-Life Fantasy feature called Perri.

Originally telecast on the Disneyland anthology, the six-part miniseries The Saga of Andy Burnett was the first of several efforts by Walt Disney to create a live-action property that would match the success of his Davy Crockett programs. Based on a novel by Stewart Edward White, Andy Burnett stars Jerome Courtland as the title character, the grandfather of an 18th century frontiersman who heads westward in 1820 in hopes of becoming a farmer. In the first episode, ""Andy's Initiation"", Andy meets a rough-and-ready trapper named Joe Crane (Jeff York who intends to ply his trade in the mountains of the west. At first reluctant to join Joe in this mission, Andy is forced to do so when his bankroll conveniently turns up missing.

In this second episode of The Saga of Andy Burnett, easterner Andy (Jerome Courtland) and his trapper pal Joe Crane (Jeff York) have joined a group called the Mountain Men in their journey the west. In order to survive the rough terrain ahead, Andy trains himself to act, hunt and think like an Indian. But the trip may be over before it has begun: Bill Sublette (Anthony Caruso), head man of a rival group of mountaineers, has bribed the local blacksmith not to sell supplies to Andy and his pals.

this third episode of The Saga of Andy Burnett, Andy (Jerome Courtland, Joe Crane (Jeff York) and the other Mountain Men have finally arrived in New Mexico. The head of the local border patrol agrees to guide Jack Kelly (Andrew Duggan, the head Mountain Man, to the outpost of Taos. Awaiting Jack's return, Andy and his friends must suffer the anti-Yankee vitriol of Capitan Reyes (Britt Lomond)--while Andy himself has a brief fling with lovely senorita Estrellita (Adele Mara).

5x01 The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca

  • 1958-10-03T04:00:00Z45m

Synopsis Elfego Baca was another of several miniseries developed by producer Walt Disney in hopes of matching the earlier success of the Davy Crockett programs. Originally telecast on the Walt Disney Presents anthology, this newest effort was launched with the first of its teen episodes, ""The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca"". Based on the memoirs of the real-life Baca, the miniseries stars Robert Loggia as the title character, a former gunslinger who becomes a lawyer in 1880s New Mexico. Arriving in the town of Frisco, Elfego Baca subdues a drunken rowdy, much to the delight of the townsfolk and the embarrassment of the cowardly sheriff. Deputized by the local justice of the peace, Elfego learns that he has been marked for death by the drunk's scurrilous friends. The bad guys try to kill Baca with gun and with gunpowder, but he proves to have more lives than a cat. Based on a true incident, ""The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca"" was later edited together with the second episode in the miniseries, ""

This is a story of a young boy who raises pigeons. This boy can't walk and is in a wheelchair. One day, the life of one of the pigeons was in jeopardy from a cat and the boy shows his courage and loyalty by getting up from his wheelchair and walking to save the pigeon's life.

In the second episode of Elfego Baca, the title character (Robert Loggia), a former gunman who yearns to be a lawyer, has been appointed sheriff of Socorro County, New Mexico. Banking on his reputation as a fast gun, Baca ""invites"" all the wanted men in the area to come into town and give themselves up. All these men surrender except one, prompting Elfego to launch a manhunt in Apache territory.

The titular hound is Paco, descended from a long and distinguished line of lion-hunting dogs. Cowboy star Rex Allen provides the folksy narration for this gentle, laid-back nature study. 6x04 The Birth of the Swamp Fox

  • 1959-10-23T04:00:00Z45m

One of producer Walt Disney's more blatant efforts to duplicate the success of his early TV miniseries Davy Crockett, the eight-part The Swamp Fox featured another flamboyant frontiersman hero who wore coonskin-cap-style headgear, and whose adventures were introduced with a catchy, memorable theme song. Based on a book by Dr. Robert D. Bass, The Swamp Fox stars Leslie Nielsen as real-life American patriot Francis Marion, a wealthy landowner who during the Revolutionary War led a hardy band of guerilla fighters against the Redcoats and pro-British tories in his native South Carolina. The villain of the piece (at least in the first few episodes) was another actual historical figure, the ruthless Banastre Tarleton (John Sutton), an officer in the British Green Dragoons (Marion and Tarleton later served as the models for the hero and villain, respectively, of the 1999 Mel Gibson film Patriot). In the first episode, Marion is prevailed upon by his friends and neighbors to help free South Ca

In the second episode of Walt Disney's eight-part miniseries The Swamp Fox, the Redcoats have retaliated against the raids of Colonel Francis Marion's guerillas by burning down their homes. While Francis (Leslie Nielsen) advises his men to wait before striking back, his own brother Gabriel (Dick Foran) is in no mood to bide his time. Gabriel has vowed vengeance in particular against the pro-Tory Videaux family, even though Mary Videaux (Joy Page is in love with Francis. What neither Gabriel nor the Redcoats realize is that Mary is secretly working on the guerillas' behalf, spying on the British and reporting their activities to Francis.

The Tories have devised a plot to control the salt and medicine in the colonies in an effort to break Rebel resistance. Naturally, our hero Moochie Morgan (Kevin Corcoran) has his heart set on accompanying his teammates to Anaheim. ""From Ticonderoga to Disneyland"" originally aired as part of the Walt Disney Presents anthology and was later serialized on the syndicated version of The Mickey Mouse Club.

In the first episode of Walt Disney's four-part miniseries based on the life of frontiersman Daniel Boone, a fast-talking salesman convinces Daniel (Dewey Martin), a North Carolina farmer, to pull up stakes and move to the ""promised land"" of Kentucky. Daniel, his wife Rebecca (Dewey Martin), and their friends are assured that if they travel along ""The Warrior's Path"", a secret Indian trail, their journey will be a safe one. Unfortunately, the Indians they encounter along the way aren't of the friendly variety.

In the second episode of Walt Disney's four-part miniseries based on the life of frontiersman Daniel Boone, it has been 12 years since Daniel (Dewey Martin and his wife Rebecca (Mala Powers) first journeyed from North Carolina to Kentucky. Now that he has children to raise and a larger farm to maintain, Daniel hankers for more ""elbow room""--so once again he packs up and prepares to head westward. First, however, the Boones are inexorably dragged into a local political crisis involving unfair taxation.

The film is being shot on location in Tobago in the West Indies, and all the cast and crew (and animals) must be brought to the island. In the third episode of Walt Disney's four-part miniseries based on the life of frontiersman Daniel Boone, the Cumberland Gap has been successfully negotiated, and Daniel (Dewey Martin), his family, and a group of settlers are on their way to a permanent settlement in Kentucky. Unfortunately, the little band is attacked by Indian chief Crowfeather (Dean Fredericks), an old enemy of the Boones. Daniel is forced to postpone his westward journey in order to rescue his son from the boy's Indian captors.

In the concluding episode of Walt Disney's four-part miniseries based on the life of frontiersman Daniel Boone, several of the members of Boone's wagon train, angered when Daniel (Dewey Martin orders them to lighten their loads so that they can negotiate the mountains, have turned back to North Carolina. Only a tiny band of faithful followers remain with Daniel and his family as they begin the last leg of the arduous journey to Kentucky. Alas, once again the wagoneers are attacked by vengeance-seeking Indian chief Crowfeather (Dean Fredericks), who has a personal score to settle with Daniel.

Filmed almost entirely at a Wisconsin game preserve, this episode of ""Walt Disney Presents"" was based on a book by Emil Liers. The program chronicles the early life and adventures of two otters, Flash and Fleta, and their close-knit family. Upon reaching their rebellious teen years, Flash strikes out on his own, experiencing all manner of exciting and life-threatening exploits, especially when coming in contact with that predatory species known as Man. But as the ""teaser"" to this episode tipped off a week in advance, Flash is ultimately and happily reunited with his loved ones. ""Flash, the Teenage Otter"" was released theatrically in 1961.

A poor 18th century English coastal farming community survives the King's ruinous taxes thanks to a smuggling ring created by its masked leader called the Scarecrow. The ring's success leads King George to order the Royal Army's General Pugh to capture and execute the ringleaders. It is a battle both of wits and action that the Scarecrow must win to save not only his own life but those of the men he leads while keeping the vital smuggling operation running.

A poor 18th century English coastal farming community survives the King's ruinous taxes thanks to a smuggling ring created by its masked leader called the Scarecrow. King George orders the Royal Army's General Pugh to capture and execute the Scarecrow. Dr. Syn, alias The Scarecrow, a country priest, tries to rescue a Dymchurch man who had been captured by the Naval Press-gang and used by General Pugh as bait in a trap.

Dr. Syn, alias The Scarecrow, must find a way to protect his smuggling band not only from the King's forces but also from a would-be traitor within his own gang. He finds the traitor but then must decide what to do with him.

Dr. Syn, alias The Scarecrow, rescues Harry Banks (David Buck) (Squire Banks' eldest son, a press-ganged man who had escaped from the Navy) and American Simon Bates (Tony Britton) from General Pugh's clutches in Dover Castle.

Walt Disney shows the viewing audience dinosaurs that will be used at the 1964 New York World's Fair in which Disneyland will play an important part at. Then a cartoon history of World's Fairs cave men are shown(The Hi-Los sing us the history)that is often hilarious and nonsensical, such as a man with a giant match and another man lighting his cigar in the flame and then the cigar explodes. Some serious material is used also about World Fairs of the 19th Century. Walt then goes into a film history of World's Fairs that are facetious and often hilarious. Walt then gets back to the dinosaurs and to cave men that will be used at the New York World's Fair as we go to the imagineering department of Disneyland. The cave men will be audio-animatronic.Next, Walt shows the Abraham Lincoln exhibit to be used at the Fair. Next, Walt shows us the the Carousel Theatre of Progress, and he shows how audio-animatronics work. It is all recorded on tape, every movement from the mouth movements to the wink of an eye. Then we see a performance of it as the song "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" is sung. We then are shown a model of the Tower of the Four Winds, and then taken to the World's Fair to see the completed 120 ft. tower. The characters of Disneyland gather there and entertain kids and adults alike. We then are taken through the "It's a Small World" ride, and then the show concludes with fountains and fireworks at the Fair.

A charming, TV version of 1960 featurette, tells a tale in the traditional Disney vein, this animal-filled children's story is about a little lost puppy who was mothered by and adopted into an extended family of raccoons. Naturally, the dog bonds with the furry masked bandits and even when the canine ends up back in the care of his real owner, he cannot forget his adopted family. His sentiments are particularly relevant when he finds himself at the head of a raccoon-hunt.

The episode begins with Walt showing a Disneyland ambassador plans for future attractions: It’s a Small World, The Plaza Inn restaurant, and my two all-time favorite rides, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion (initially called “Museum of the Weird”). We’re then taken inside the park as costumed characters dance in honor of the anniversary, and a parade is put on by an Anaheim school band and cheerleaders. Once Walt recalls the early stages of Disneyland, with footage of when its construction was still in progress, some of the most entertaining segments begin. Eyewitness views show what its like to experience the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Sailing Ship Columbia, Jungle Cruise, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and the now-closed Submarine Voyage, Nature’s Wonderland, and Flying Saucers attractions. A real treat is a tour of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse with the Mills Family – John (who plays the father in Swiss Family Robinson), Mary (a screenwriter), and Hayley (the least known member of the family, of course) – set to that infectious organ music! The climax is the Dixieland at Disneyland celebration, in which all sorts of water vessels put on a sparkling musical show.

  • 1977-10-30T04:00:00Z45m

Halloween Hall o' Fame is a television special that first aired on October 30, 1977 as part of The Wonderful World of Disney. The special featured Jonathan Winters as a security guard working late at the Walt Disney Productions studio on Halloween night. He is accompanied by his dog, Peanuts. Winters, bitter about working on Halloween night, stumbles upon the prop room at the studio and begins acting out scenes with various props. Eventually he finds a crystal ball containing a talking pumpkin, Jack o' Lantern. Jack o' Lantern is hiding out from Halloween because it is no longer scary like it was in "the old days". The dialogue between the security guard and the pumpkin is interspersed with Halloween-related Disney cartoons, that Jack o' shows the security guard in his crystal ball and which the audience gets to enjoy. List of cartoons: The first cartoon, "Trick or Treat", features Huey, Dewey, and Louie as they go trick or treating. Donald plays a mean trick on them and the boys seek revenge on him with the help of a witch. The second cartoon, "Pluto's Judgment", shows Pluto on trial for tormenting cats featuring a jury of felines who instantly proclaim he's guilty. Thankfully, just as he's given the penalty, he wakes up, reveling it all to be a nightmare.

When they try it out on themselves, they discover that the stuff gives any human superhuman strength for a few minutes. The school sees this as the thing needed to save their school from closure, as the Dean makes a deal with his relative who owns the company that makes the cereal for financial support, unaware that it was Dexter's chemical which was solely responsible for the strength. When her competitor learn of this deal, he hires two criminals to stop it.

Roy Schneider plays an aging all-star for the Detroit Tigers, who are seriously slumping. He thinks he's lost his magic touch as a hitter, and in fact it seems he has. All of Detroit has given up on him except for one young kid, who somehow manages to restore Schneider's faith in the game and in himself. The trick: he shows up at every game and whenever he gets up to bat, the kid closes his eyes and squeezes his hands really tight together in some sort of possessed prayer to the Baseball God. And it works. Soon, the Tigers have moved from last place to first and the whole town has ""Tiger Fever"", of course there comes a time towards the end when the kid can't make it to the game on time and it's up to Roy to do it on his own...but it's a Disney movie, come on, what do you think happens? Anyways, it's an enjoyable movie, focusing on baseball , childhood faith and an aging athlete's redemption. Then Groups of visitors are taken on ""Star Tours"", a space tour bus set in the Star Wars uni
