I'm so sad this show is ending. I can't get enough of it. This show keeps me alive on Mondays.
This season is the epitome of wackiness and yet, I never know what to expect. Each episode includes lots of crazy stuff for each one of the characters and yet, they manage to make it all work. Kudos to them!
So this episode we had: Young Obama, tiny Grodd, Damien being heartbroken and switching sides to help save her daughter, Ava and Rip's heartbreaking talk, Rip being a cold bastard, Sara trusting Damien, Nate learning Amaya erased her memories of him, Old Amaya and her daughter, Mallus being freed and killing Nora in the process. And on top of that, Ray got John Noble to play himself while dressed as Denethor recording lines for Mallus in the set of The Lord of the Rings. I can't believe that last bit just happened. It was brilliantly absurd. Btw, Ray's reaction to John Noble labelling his lines as crap was priceless. It had me on stitches.
I feel like this episode had two clear parts. The first half was pure fun, nonsense as always, but fun anyway. The second half, however, was devastating. I feel like a burden felt on me and I can't get it off of me. The Amaya plotline was si freaking sad and learning that she actually erased her memory to forget all things Nate crushed my soul in a million pieces. These two are one of the best couples in the Arrowverse. Zero drama and pure love. I'm inclined to believe that somehow, Nate died and Amaya erased her memory of him in order to to be hurt. I refuse to believe that she dumped him because protecting her village was her destiny. I don't want to believe that.
However, the scene that crushed my soul was Ava demanding answers from Rip. Honestly, when she said "I wasn't even your first choice" I feel a rock in my head that prevented me to move anywhere. Rip, you heartless bastard, what he said to Ava...God, I got so angry. Does he even know what humanity means? How could he say something as atrocious as this in such a moment? That bastard. It's like he doesn't think his agents are even people. And I got the impression that Rip's still hiding something from her.
Darhk talking about how much he loves her daughter and crying (which I thought was impossible) was also heartbreaking. I feel like the end of the episode was you get heartbroken, and you get heartbroken, everybody gets heartbroken.
Ray was adorable again. His song was too catchy and his one liners were the best. "Run, Barry, run", lol. I expected more from the Grodd-Obama stuff, but it was entertaining. Grodd's "Make America Grodd again" was a little bit on the nose, but it got a giggle out of me. I love that Mick keeps on using his gun when he's got a totem that makes him produce actual fire.
The exchange of the episode goes to Ray and Darhk.
Ray: "Nora and I have a connection"
Darhk: stares at him with the intention of killing him
Ray: "Not that kind of connection"
Ray: "That's it. What if I got inside Nora?
Darhk: stares at him with the intention of killing him
Ray:" Not like that!"
Darhk was fantastic this episode. His pretend acting had me in stitches. He did what the Legends do best: fuck up. I can't get enough if this Damien Darhk. And when he said that if he could take it all back he would, it felt like the writers were apologizing for killing off Laurel.
That ending scene was both beautiful and disturbing. So that's Mallus...he's just...how can I put it...freaking beautiful. I wasn't expecting him to be like this at all. Turns out he's just a big ass demon after all. I guess that's where the CGI budget went. I'm only disappointed that Gary didn't turn out to be Mallus, which can only mean that he's gonna bote the dust in the finale.
Did anyone else notice that when Mallus was being freed Nora's head just, kind of, fell off? It was disturbing and uncanning to say the least. That transformation was scary.
Old Amaya's make-up was great and so were Obama's mannerisms and way of talking. The actor did a great job.
I'm so hyped for the finale. It's gonna be crammed up with a whole bunch of characters. And what better stage than the Wild West? It wouldn't be a season of Legends without Jonah Hex.
I can’t believe that Legends of Tomorrow became the best show on the Arrowverse.
Omg... Yes!! Yes!
That scene with John Noble and Brandon Routh was hilarious! I'm in love with this show!
Oh shit man... Mallus appears!
...enter John Constantine!
No one does meta like Legends of Tomorrow <3
I loved the meta-ness of going back in time to the LORD OF THE RINGS set in order to get John Noble to record lines for Mallus without him realizing why he was really doing it. That more than made up for some minor annoyances with the rest of this one. Next week's finale with Mallus the Bat Dragon should be interesting!
John Noble as himself! Did not realise it was him until I saw the episode name earlier. Then I was trying to remember who he was and was he stared in then I remembered The Fringe and Sleppy Hollow. I don't remember his roll in LoTR though.
This was a great episode with Gorilla Grodd, John Noble and Barack Obama!
Guys... really..... we're you in that a rush to finish this episode?
Come on!
The fight between Esi and Grodd was horrible!
The Kick in Grodd's face was one of the worst edits I've seen in a long time.
Obama was a bit far fetched imho.
And I didn't like the older version of Amaya.
I loved the rest of the episode tho.
Goodbye tired of the crap this show has become.
"Make America Grodd Again"? Are you people serious?
I had come by and leave a spoiler comment lol
So... Mallus is litterally a flying buffalo ?? I thought this "demon" would have the typical demon face, all ugly and stuff but that.... Lol and lol
Okay given that it all occurred in Zambezi, the totems from all the Zambian villages, the animal reference kind of makes sense.
But still LOL :joy:
John Noble playing as himself playing Denethor in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings was too meta for me to handle! Definitely one of the finest moments of this show!
It would have been a very interesting twist if Rip had told Ava that she was actually the original one, and not just another clone, and maybe even related to Rip (family-wise), somehow. But no, they didn't have the balls (or brains) to go there, and just turned it into a dull and pointless sidestory.
Oh, well, as lame as this show is, at least we have John Noble, for now (and, hopefully, Constantine, for the season finale).
Not the best episode but decent enough. First episode for me that kind of feels like a filler lol

I loved this episode, plot wise it doesn’t really add a lot to this season’s narrative, but it was so unapologetically funny and had so many meta moments and yet it didn’t felt force at all as it sometimes happens with the show. Probably next one will be way more dramatic, so let’s enjoy the fun while it lasts.
