It's good, but they really should have made the first season have more than just four episodes. It's like if you got the first two episodes of Game of Thrones on the same day, but had to wait a year for the rest of the season. Looking forward to next year's season two.
(Too lazy to rewrite this, Season 2 is fucking awesome watch it.)
It's pretty fun! The last season wasn't fantastic, but everything else was engaging and enjoyable. There is not much depth to the characters nor the plot, but they aren't survace level or super predictable so it's nonetheless an entertaining show.
It plays a lot like a video game. Ik it’s based off of that so it makes sense I guess. Characters and dialogue completely just for plot. No interesting characters or development. Awesome art tho
Cliche, but a well writen cliche. I liked this show.
A great story that is very anime-inspired but still has its own style. The characters are all interesting and the overarching story of the show is also great.
Probably the best fights that ive seen in anime. Cant remember season 1+2 very good but 3+4 the fights were insane.
this shows ending is quite literally the definition of perfect
Man this is such a great show that really gives you good villains
MY THOUGHTS ON CASTLEVANIA:
-WARNING: Spoilers Below-
I'm going to start this off strong and say this... I honestly believe Castlevania is the best TV Show to Animation adaption that I have seen. Everything it does was done perfectly. The action was amazing, the dialogue was amazing, the characters were well written, extremely fleshed out and very believable and finally the plot was great. There'es not much more I could have asked from this show.
Of course with most shows there's boring episodes or even seasons and Castlevania was one of those shows but does that make it any less of a show? No. Even with some bad or boring episodes in my eyes Castlevania still manages to be one of the best video game animation adaptations that I have seen. I'm honestly quite gutted that I won't be seeing anymore seasons of this, I really hope the team behind this are thinking of something new.
Overall Castlevania was a brilliant Animation and I'll forever remember it fondly, It's a shame it had to end but all good things must end. I'll miss this one and hopefully one day we get to see some more. If you're looking for an Animation that has some good action scenes, great characters and a good plot then I definitely recommend this. My only concern is at times it definitely drags on and gets a bit stale and boring but if you look past those episodes you'll enjoy it.
Overall rating: 7/10.
This is a great series. Why? The animation is spectacular. The pacing is on point. The characters just developed enough without needing to linger or force them into more than they need to do. It takes familiar themes and organizes them into coherent short-stories and doesn't insist you do more than enjoy the ride. What you don't see coming aren't leaps of faith and forgiveness for lazy plot lines. The only thing that gives me pause when I use the word "lazy" is the dialogue. It's not abjectly cringe-inducing, but it can take you out of a moment that might have otherwise retained a measure of depth that would have pushed a scene into more evocative territory. In one sense, it's okay to feel comfortable enough with the vein you're depicting your characters in, in another, for what is clearly a thoughtful and deliberate piece of work, to kind of fumble on some word choices feels unfortunate. The show dips its toes into genuinely contemplative material regarding greed and death, then hands the keys to the teenager learning how to drive meaningful dialogue. I've never played the games, but the series makes me want to. I wonder if broadly the series is hamstrung by a kind of lightness or wish-fulfillment I'm curious if the games maintain.
what a great show! the story unfolds effortlessly, the characters grow, the animations are spot on and the final season, specifically the last 3 episodes are perfect! excellent ending, great show!
The final season made justice to the whole story...The climax and the ending was top notch and the sound and animation was perfect especially the final season.Great story and the ending was proper and satisfying..Highly recommend it 10/10
that last season blew me away
SEASON 4 IS COMING THURSDAY OMFG Y'ALL WHO'S EXCITED!?
yes, it's gonna be a fourth season. i love this show.
This show is great! What a treat for the fans. The script, animation, acting... they are all amazing. It feels like a really cool comic or RPG.
Season 1 & 2 were great. Season 3 was waste of time garbage TV. The entire season 3 could’ve been done in two 20 min episodes. If you’re going to start this show, watch 1 & 2. Skip 3.
Warren fucking Ellis, man. Warren fucking Ellis. A-tier screen writing, ladies and gentlemen. Easily best video game-inspired show out there.
we need season 4 please
Good watch, enjoyed it. Not fan of the gore but it was tolerable. Animation is awesome too!
This was exactly my fear of where the story would go after Dracula's death. (who was easily the best character) the existence of a point has stopped and most of the season Hector is just jailed and Isaac is just roaming around, lmao. The writers needed to realise that the plot can move forward in other episdes than the last 2. And even then the 2 plots out of a total 3 are just 2 different characters having sex with someone. This turned into Garbage TV way too fast :(
Seasons 1 & 2 are amazing. I rated them 10's.
Note for what follows: What I mark in spoiler tags are in fact spoilers, but relatively minor and in nondescript detail.
Season 3 was relatively boring and I gave it a 5. It wasn't terrible; it was watchable. The pacing was just slow and the season dragged. The entire 10 episode season could have been condensed into 3 episodes or less so little actually happened. And most of it was in the last 2 episodes. It effectively accounted for a bunch of talking, some scuffling, a bit of intrigue, storybuilding for later stuff to be exciting (season 4 & 5 perhaps?) and one minor fight - which the other seasons had an abundance of. 3 did not. So while season 3 was boring season 4 does have some hopeful threads that could be tugged on for some more excitement. 2 which will inevitably merge into 1 thread (the stories of the two forge masters), and another 2 which are mostly just interesting potential at this point (Alucard & Dracula's developments we see in episode 10.).
A rare combination of more talking and less fighting for recent shows/movies, appreciated. Though ending of 2nd season is too welcoming for a next one (hope it will not happen).
Season 1 was a great introduction to the series.
Season 2 was a fantastic addition to the show. Episode 7 from Season 2 was just stupendously awesome and will make every Castlevania fan scream!
Edit: Season 3 had some awesome moments but still does not surpass season 2
One final request: please release the OST ASAP!
What a meaningless 2nd season. Boring, dull and dumb waste of time.
I simply loved the show! Never played the games, haven't heard of the story, but the series got me hyped. I really like that it's not childish, there is blood and all (maybe too much) and Belmont's character is pure badass. "I don't care."
First of all, this is a good show and I totally recommend it. It is not as good as I was expecting it to be after hearing people talk about it so much though. Anyway, the quality is there, voice acting is very well done, some things are a little bit over the top (how many times do they need the characters to fall into stuff? more creativity was needed I guess) but in the end we got 4 really well made episodes that serve as a great introduction to the story. Hopefully next season will be even better and with more episodes.
Netflix thank u!. they can't seem to get anything wrong. love it
Overall, a textbook case of good, but not great, with the exception of the last episode - bit of a shame the first three weren't on par with it, but it does offer some promise for the second season. Generally though, the animation was well done, but didn't really jump out as exceptional or original. The story and writing were adequate, but pretty boilerplate. I will say that some of the voice acting was very good. I'm likely just a bit disappointed due to some over-hype from Shankar and his quote that the show was going to be "R-rated as f**k." I was hoping that meant they were really going to try to push the envelope for an animated show. Meh... not so much, but as I've said, it's good and definitely worth a watch. One other oddity that I'll join the chorus on - what the hell is up with four, 24 minute episodes? That's a 96 minute movie and I think it probably would have played better that way, although, by releasing them all on one day (as is Netflix's model), that's essentially what they've done.
I really loved it but 4 episodes ur killing me netflix!!!
A great intro to a series I would definitely watch long-term. Voice acting is top notch, but Trevor Belmont is a bit of a stereotype long-seen in series of this genre. Few words, total badass--on top of that the long-lost son of a demon-fighting family lol. The fight choreography is really great and so is the animation in the scenes. The backgrounds are decent but you can see some areas they flesh out less detail.
Side comment: how many times can someone fall from great heights onto jagged rocks and not die?
The plot is based on this: http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Castlevania_III:_Dracula%27s_Curse

First anime I started to watch and it was a pleasent suprise. I haven't played with the game so I have no background knowledge about the storyline. I enjoyed the characters voice and the overall design. Will watch S2 as well.
