I knew nothing about this film. That ending was shocking, even more so that the studio approved, since historically they are against sad endings. Although I felt the "for what?" was unnecessary. The performance said it all.
The religious nutjob came off as a caricature but then you see how mainstream Christian extremism has gone in US politics that her dialogue feels very realistic.
