Well it is a slightly better ending than the original series. But yes most of the plot holes others have mentioned are there.

Dexter the serial killers killer, doesn’t pickup on a pattern of several murders and disappearances. And the cop who dedicated her entire career to finding the missing suddenly figures out Dexter is a killer on almost nothing.

And no one in a town with the fastest gossip ever noticed that Kurt is the last person to see at least 2 of the missing.

Dexter being a little sloppy at first makes sense it been years, and it was a theme from the books that the dark passenger was what gave him his edge and precision.

But once he starts killing again he still misses Kurt, and his minion gets the drop on him after he just talked about Kurt having followers which sure they might give a message or even a beating. But Kurt’s junior killer just kind of appeared and he almost kills Dexter.

Deb started ok, but got super annoying.

Batista showing would have been great if he interacted with anyone else.

Blog girl while she moved the story along was also super annoying. They could have done anything else.

I get Dexter might want to avoid the old case but it was still a super cold case with a presumed suspect who was dead. And the Matt’s case was so flimsy that it would never have made it to court.

The kid is all over the place, but that is kinda how a troubled teen should act. But his flip to competence is bad writing.

And the ending is so forced, they should have something where Dexter and Harrison use Kurt’s murder room to get the cops off Dexter’s trail. But Harrison left some trace and Dexter has to break out trying to fix it and gets killed trying to save his son.

It makes up for the original show not giving him a real ending. But not a good death.
