So profoundly unfunny I could hardly believe it.

If you dont like the actors you cannot comment about his humor. basically they have a way to make humor that if you dont like his style is not for you, they are not made for like on everyone.

@AccexAr

Firstly I like both Ferrell and Hart and enjoy many of their films and stand up. Ferrell's 'You're Welcome America" is biting satire at its best and one of my favorite pieces in the genre. Harts stand up has an energy and honesty I find very easy to connect with. Both have starred in films I've found very funny.

Secondly, I've watched the film and as such I can give a critical response.

I didn't find the script particularly funny; it was ponderous, obvious and padded for run time until the short last act 'solving the crime'. The writer/director Etan Cohen has co-written a number of films I've found funny, for example Tropic Thunder, but to me this shows that he just isn't a strong enough writer to stand on his own. Any slightly amusing parts came through the physicality of Ferrell/Hart, not the writing or lack lustre direction (this is Cohen's first time directing a feature film). With any other actors this would have fallen even flatter than it did and likely been a straight to VOD.

No film is going to be appreciated by everyone. I've disliked films with my favorite actors, and thoroughly enjoyed films with actors that I wouldn't normally go out of my way to see.

To say that if I don't like a star and don't like their movie it means that I can't comment on it afterwards is naive at best.
