Till yesterday I would agree with you but yesterdays episode was great!
Raised the bar too high you mean? Too high compared to what? ... the books? If the story arcs are too hard to follow, perhaps this series isn't for you. As it is, the TV series have condensed and oversimplified the content from the books. I doubt Martin would allow his baby to be cut down further.

This season has less flair,bloodshed everything seems so contrived ; too many story arcs to follow or just maybe GOT raised bar high it's difficult to measure up.
