Glad to reaffirm years later that this is still a masterpiece. Brad Dourif is great, of course, but Gillian Anderson gets her full showcase of the series, and knocks it out of the park; she's the emotional grounding that elevates the whole episode. The way her voice winds down to a choked-up whimper at the end of "I’ll believe you, if you let me talk to him" is breathtaking.
