I really liked how this series explored James' development from a self-described psychopath to a person who understood the value of human relationships through James' time spent with Alyssa, wandering aimlessly out of their town. I loved the open- ended, sort-of poetic ending to the season with James' character arc concluding beautifully as he tries to protect Alyssa. I wanted James and Phil's relationship to be explored more, since Phil seems like he genuinally cares for his kid but cannot really connect to him. Gwen sending letters to Alyssa was sweet too, but I wish she made more of an effort for Alyssa.I like how James' relationship to his mom was explored too, seeing the impact his mother's suicide had on him, serving as a catalyst for James' emotional repression. Overall, this was a really fun binge-watch for the weekend.
