The film showcases well the societal issues of toxic masculinity, narcissism, emotional unavailability and police corruption. Good performances from Eva Mendes and Rose Byrne, although I would've preferred they had more screentime and material to work with. Most of the characters were superficial, despite the overlong runtime. I feel that the 3 stories should've had been told in reverse order. That way the audience could relate more with Jason trying to find out who his father was, and expectations would've been subverted as we would go from a romanticized version of Luke to a tragically victimized version and then to the real sociopathic Luke, with the film ending with his death.
