Good slapstick, sometimes like a play, Joey consistently funniest.
Loses some realism
Newspaper room is great
Too much fan service
Near flawless television:
Difficult to think how these episodes can get much better. Amazing acting, dealing with fascinating themes etc.
Good satire of political conversations, awkward dates and fun ending. Little predictable as things fall apart.
Very impressive use of soundtrack and ability to build unease and suspense. Characters are a bit one note and not too emotionally engaging, but certainly a fun watch.
Didn’t feel like the death hit has hard as I was expecting, but still a very enjoyable episode.
Engaging episode, with plot moving more quickly than equivalent point in previous seasons. The speech about the paper bag was actually quite profound.
Missing the atmosphere of the towers a fair amount. Will take a while to get acclimatised to new villains etc., but the setting is just less interesting without the hierarchy. It is a bold move to completely pivot your show into a murder mystery, but at times it feels too much like a bland cop drama. Not sure how long they can keep relying on throwbacks with earlier characters.
Tempted to give it 10/10, but probably didn’t quite have the thrill aspect to justify that rating. Nonetheless, did very well to wrap up the season in a convincing an engaging way. Found the way that they dealt with the overall futility of the case to be particularly impressive, felt like there were some deeper themes in there that are more explicit than shows like Breaking Bad.
Very powerful ending, some of the best TV have seen in a while. Rest of the episode was good, manages to combine police drama things very well. Most realistic portrayal of place I’ve probably ever seen in TV.
Good start, like the setting, funny, engaging.
The humour is getting a little tiresome, as if the show has become too self-aware about the Gregg/Tom dynamic. In addition, Logan is getting to the point of parody. The dialogue remains sharp, but it’s more of a comedy than a drama at this point
The deaths still feel a little cold. Great music, Chris’s character has developed very well.
Very boring episode, didn’t engage with this storyline at all - apart from in the vague sense that it’d be interesting to see Tony’s decision. Don’t remember the final season of many shows having these kinds of episodes. Don’t really enjoy episode structure.
This is probably becoming the best series of TV I’ve ever seen. Feels like the show is a lot less dated, and is finally able to cash out the character development that I sat through in earlier seasons. It is also much funnier than Breaking Bad, although I don’t know that there is the same kind of tension. It was only whilst Tony was in the hospital that I wanted to continue watching to find out what happens next.
The changes in tone were a little jarring, but overall a nice little episode.
First episode that was a swing and a miss for me. The tone felt lots like Boosh throughout, but the overall tension didn’t really land.
Not much happened, but this season is gaping up to be very funny.
