Season 1 was pretty good. Enjoyable, somewhat substantial and fun to follow. It does tend to get a bit muddy towards the second half but manages to wrap itself quite nicely.
However, season 2 was just not it. All the depth and cohesiveness that season 1 seemed to had was hurled out the window. They didn't take time to explore anything with grace and as a result felt very shallow and disconnected.
It was definitely an underwhelming experience compared to season 1. Pushing so many great characters from last season to the sidelines, the show makes it an uninteresting one-woman-army charade off Tsunemori. I hate saying this because I really do like her character and its arc. The antagonist was pretty meh, even the whole Togane shindig lost its lustre way too quickly. Conclusively, a good season on its own but comparatively it falls short of the first season through and through.
An absolute gem, Mehta captures the multilayered story beautifully. The performances are absolutely great by all the actors.
