quite a touching and meaningful episode; I recommended a friend of mine who recently lost his sister to check out this show, and I await his reaction once he reaches this episode someday. There's a glimpse of Planet of the Apes in this one. I'm also curious on what music was used during the children scenes.
I think I remember seeing this one back in the day randomly on TV. Now I'm seeing it air on FLIXe channel. It's inspiring for young middle school viewers. Some parts reminded me of myself when I was that young, how sometimes strict parents tend to be unsupportive of what we do, and being one of the best spellers in my class. While Akeelah's rhythm has to do with keeping time, my little thing that I did was count my fingers. My 6th grade class thought I was weird when I did that. So when the next big word came, and I didn't use my fingers due to previous embarrassment, I misspelled it; completely lost my rhythm. There's a lesson to be learned from that.
Anyway, there's a familiar cast here. Every time I see Laurence Fishburne, I kept thinking Morpheus from The Matrix (1999). I also remember Lee Thompson Young, who was Jett Jackson/Silverstone, and had sadly passed away some years ago. It's nice to see the soulful support Akeelah received from her neighborhood and community.
That was a BOMB season finale! :boom::pizza:
Also, for the record, I am a pro pineapple pizza person! I've had all kinds of pizza, including Hawaiian style (ham and pineapple), for as long I've eaten pizza!
Predictable, but at least there were some cute faces. I do like some of the songs they played for a few scenes. I'm trying to find who they are by even though they weren't in the end credits.
If Breakfast Club turned into a slasher horror film, this would be it.
Brett and Erica are perfect for each other.
This Ice Age episode is like a new version of The Twilight Zone episode, The Little People, which has also been Simpsonized in one of the Treehouse of Horror segments ("The Genesis Tub" in 1996) where Lisa accidentally creates life by setting her loose tooth in Buzz cola overnight as a science experiment. In this case, there's an old refrigerator where the civilization takes place in. In a similar way, the characters check their freezer from time to time to see how they've evolved. It's always been an interesting concept to me. Also, Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars in this. <3
I was hoping they'd at least mention a couple of my childhood favorites, Vamp (1986) and Fright Night (1985), but didn't happen. They covered much of the popular ones though, and I saw clips of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (2014).
⊗ For so long, I believed. With every end, a new beginning. Bravo @TheXFiles and thank you for this mind-blowing finale!
Even in MacGyver, there's an A.I. (named Sandy) that becomes evil. HAL 2000 (from 2001: A Space Odyssey) must've been an influence. I know MacGyver can outsmart this system.
Finally getting around to seeing this after all these years. I caught it tonight on Showtime Beyond about 30 minutes in, and getting the gist of what the film is about. Its got a pretty cool concept, and just as I thought it'd be, it's pretty much a MAD MAX set at the open waters/the oceans. I recognized some of the faces; Dennis Hopper always makes for a humorous villain. The action sequence towards the end definitely has that typical Universal Pictures directing style to it. I miss original action movies like this that uses practical effects and hand-built sets. I don't know why it's got so much flack back then or even to this day. But I personally enjoyed it for what it is. There was even an NES game based on Waterworld, and was just as "bad" as the film. The soundtrack sounds great too in this. The end scene reminded me of the end scene in Vampire Hunter D (1985); just the way it was shot is just so similar to each other - coincidence maybe. Too bad there was never a sequel, or at least not one I'm aware of.
a kinda underwhelming season finale but hey, segments of The Simpsons, Silver Surfer, and King of the Hill are seen in this, haha (also my childhood FOX channel toons); I'd like to see how things go on from this point on.. onto season 6!
Interesting concept, a blind vigilante, kinda reminds me of a female Dare Devil. I just don't understand the point of her character choosing to continue taking the blame; she's a strong woman and I can see that. (no pun intended) I like strong female characters
This one features Jewish mythology, and the Jews here remind me of the Simpsons episode (Like Father, Like Son) about Krusty's father, Rabi.
"I am the FBI."
I dropped tears and sighed in relief at that moment as the theme song "Falling" played in the background.
Just : - ) ALL the feels in this one. Thank you.
I see that they're borrowing some ideas from the Daredevil series with these one-take fight scenes. It's well-fit for these types of characters.
"Honestly, I'd murder for a Coke Zero."
Keep it classy, Mac. It's a good change of pace with the added moments with the ladies like this. Normally, the show is overloaded with epic music and action; needs a breather every now and then, you know.
Brought some friends to see this one tonight; We liked it; thought it was alright, not great though. It's a neat update with some newer tech thrown in, more camera views, but even the latest technology won't do you any good in these woods. The many jump scares, shouting and screaming may be quite annoying.
Parts of Blair Witch (2016) remind me of other horrors such as Evil Dead (2013), The Descent (2005), REC (2007), and especially P.T. (the Silent Hills demo game from Konami). Of course, being directed by Adam Wingard, there's a resemblance to some of the shorts from the V/H/S series.

So is the milk still good?
Yup
I like the little comedic moments like this.
This was a pretty cool episode. I wonder who write it. It feels almost Stephen King-style. The kid's counselor looked so familiar too. I thought she was Jessie from Saved By The Bell, but the more I watched I later learned that she was the actress for April O'Neil (Judieth Hoag) from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
a pleasant origin story starr. John Lithgow as the main villain; hard to believe that John Carpenter was supposedly the original director but was rejected, I would've loved to see how it would turn out
Seeing a second time; It's a little early for goodbye. He's a veteran survivor. He'll find a way out
#TheWalkingDead
I loaf this Thanksgiving episode! The Breadator bit was the butter one of stories :croissant::wink:
I want to "touch" up on the part where they fist bumped; this is just my speculation, but it seems dangerous to even interact with the kid in the cell, and touching him would be the catalyst that would drive you completely mad as if the kid is in control of the body. I have an inkling, and imagine what would happen if Molly were to touch Henry.. Maybe she did that one time, and that's why Henry has no memory of the murder. What if both Molly and the kid has the Shining ability, but are completely opposite of one another.
Interesting and lovely Bill Plympton (Plymptoons) animation for the couch gag; reminds me of something I used to see on MTV
And Amazon owning CircuitCity, hehe, that'd would be something :-)
LOL that overused sample of the Savage Garden song just gets cracks me up!
#TrulyMadlyDeeply
Glad to see John Constantine back on the small screen; loving every second that he appears.
..Now how about that season two! ;-)
