Finally - Sam & Diane kiss.
Wait - no, Ross and Rachel kiss.
No, that's not right - It's Jim & Pam!
Oops wrong shows.
The "Will They / Won't They" turns into "When will they". And now they have kissed.
So, next season, they play it cool and on the DL. And then they have a make out session behind the curtains on the stage, during a play and Boom- curtains are pulled apart and everyone sees them kissing. School scandal - suspension and then a proposal.
Growing up in Texas, the Bluebonnet thing is a tradition I have seen with SO many people. (The spring time Family pics on FB/ Twitter are an annual tradition. Personally, my family never went in for it. Mom was Canadian and Dad was a germaphobic OCD, who would NEVER have been caught dead touching the ground. He even was cremated, so that his body wasnt place in the dirt).
But while I had a laugh at this, and how the family was dressed up for it, it lost the humor, then the Moment came.
Well, things got all kinds of AWKward when Drew dragged some teenage girl on the stage.

One of the Darkest episodes in a while.
I had a craving for spaghetti while watching it (and I have to wonder - where does garlic bread come from? And meatballs...)
The flashback part was right up there with the final scenes of Futurama's "Jurassic Bark" - witnessing a life got back, with all the ups and downs. (Although I laughed a bit at some of these scenes - not so much with Jurassic Bark).
::googles "Nearest Spaghetti place" ::

listening to this, in the post COVID 19 world, it is scary how much they address some of the issues we experience during COVID - including the need to get vaccinated and how those who refused could cause problems. And Bill Nye's segment - about how there are unknown germs and parasites we are not aware of - hits harder in today's climate.
Of course Colin takes on the "Canada - the Upside" one. And gets to have a Meme Gift made from it.

Reacher at the buffet has me wondering who could do it justice more - Jack Reacher or my Father (whose been kicked out /banned from many a buffet for eating to much. "Sir, you've been her 3 hrs and eating the whole time. Please leave")
I feel the same way Uhtred feels, about the Church.
The rigid, "answers for everything" Church suddenly finds itself challenged in what the power of their Almighty can do.
To save a child, they will ignore treatments that Nature can provide, and instead, insist on prayer and faith.
If the child dies - "It is God's Will. We are humble servants, who do not understand the ways of God"
If the child lives - "PRAISE BE TO HIM!! A 1000 priests, praying together, were heard by God and he answered those prayers"
(Worse part is - this continues today. I experienced it personally, during a tragic moment in my life. "Your Mom died because it is God's will; he has plans and her continuing to live are not part of that plan" was told to me by a family friend. Last time I talk with that person).
The Church plays both sides of the life and death struggle, and always manages to convince people they are right. But the King isnt so sure, given how both he and his son were saved not by prayer, but by the actions of a person they consider to be a heathen. The look he gives...
And meanwhile, Uhtred is done with all most all religions, be they Heathen, Christian or Norse. He is a practical Man who believes in the world of reason.
Not sure what was better - the final fate of the one judge OR the Garden Gnomes.
And I am getting SERIOUS Freak Psycho Vibes from Lucy's new GF

After seeing this episode when it was broadcast, I would find myself looking to the heavens, while in line, hoping to see the flying pig.
Alas, while I never once spotted him, I did console myself with a good pulled pork sandwich or some pork BBQ
Hannah talking about her little dance - Oh, we've seen that little Dance. #IYKYK
No wonder the guy died!!!
"Bill Nye is on Tinder!?!?!" LMAO!!!!
With the 2024 solar eclipse less than 60 hours old, and having seen it firsthand, with my eyes, my cameras, and my telescope, It is awe-inspiring.
I am a science Nerd, with emphasis on space and the cosmos. So, of course I was going to watch it (and the weather held out, no less!)
So, hoping to learn more about what I witness, I sat down and watched this episode.
About 90% of what they discussed, I knew.
But I still learned about the making of artifical angular blockers for scopes, about what NASA was doing during the Eclipse, and why we don't have more of them.
And now we can add ANOTHER actor from "The Suicide Squad" to the list of guest stars on the show.
(I almost want them to have a series finale where James Gunn yells "CUT" and we learn that the whole show was a project of his, which he was making while waiting on the final take over of the DC entertainment franchise. Maybe have Fillion ask "So, when do I get to play Green Lantern?
Gunn: "....."
Fillion: "That a no... ok, how about Booster Gold?"
Gunn: "cast already...sorry"
Fillion: "Youre going to put me in make-up or CGI again, arent you..... "
Gunn: "How does OA grab you? I would say Clayface, but Alan beat you too it....")
I love how Peter Falk (aka Columbo) was the "pigeon" in this episode, and a few decades later, several of Ed McBain (who invented the 87th Precinct series) novels would be made into Columbo movies.
My viewer would recognize that Jane Leeves has a brief appearance in this episode
I'm an atheist. Have been since I learned that NOT believing in God was an option.
While admitting this to my parents didnt shock them, it did cause my father to ask me "why?"
"Cuz what kind of cruel, evil idiot would allow me to live in a place where, every time it rains, I get nightmares & have flashbacks to the time I was swept away during a flash flood. And then, to make me go through it again, and again, and again - that every time it rains, I have a near panic attack, worried that, once again, this house we live in would again flood. Like it did in 1977. And 1979. And again in 1980, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85.... Cuz if that is the type of person who is suppose to love me, then I dont believe in him'
(For the record, it was my father who forced our family to continue to live in a house that flood every times a year. It wouldnt be until 1989, when we almost died while taking shelter in the attic, while the flood waters rose, that he decided we needed to move).
While I believe in the Christian values (compassion, aid, love, etc), I dont feel that I should believe in some magical sky wizard, who is angry with me if I watch porn, or eat pork, or wear clothing of two different threads, or mark my body with tattoos, or who hate those who believe in same sex love and marriage.
But when the Christian thing is shoved in my face - it triggers me something fierce. (Case in point - I have a close friend who is VERY Christian. Like Super Dooper Christian. So, when she learned that I was an atheist, she had to tell me "You are the first atheist I've ever met. But Dont worry - God has told me that you will be saved and come back to the faith." As a favor, I once went to church with her. That meant getting up EARLY on a Sunday - not my thing to do - and driving 20 miles, to be at her church. She then walked me around, to EVERYONE there, and introduced me as "This is my dear friend _______. And he is an ATHEIST. But I talked him into coming to church with me today." She even threw in a Hallelujah when she introduced me to the head pastor / minister / reverend - whatever he was. I was "Soooooo.... when do they bring out the snakes?" That was the last time I went to church on purpose.)
For me Faith and Believe is like assholes - everyone has one, but I dont want you to shove yours in my face and tell me how good it is.
This being said, today is Easter 2024, and I figured I would finally sit down and watching this film. I was told it was to be a comedy. And it was - after a certain point. But getting there was ROUGH - I would say there is a major Trigger Warning before watching this film - just in case, like me, your skin crawls when all the talk of Jesus and faith and being born again.
But once you get past that, it becomes an amusing film. Not "Dancing with Jesus on the Cross" funny like out of "Drop Dead Gorgeous", but it does have some moments . (I particularly like the "Jew girl" who has a relationship with Roland. BTW - giving the kid in the wheelchair a name like Roland - GENIUS!!!)
The liquor was flowing freely before this episode...
This is the second time, since I have been doing a Benny Hill watch thru, that I have seen the "Learning all the time" sketch. (The first time, it was during his B&W era).
I remember watching this during its initial broadcast, sitting next to my father, as I laughed along with him. (I didnt get many of the jokes - such a youth in Asian / euthanise, But, if Dad laughed, I laughed).
This one also contains Mimed Striptease, which has been living in my head rent free for 42 years.
Before there was Jim and Pam.... or Ben and Lesley.... or Ross and Rachel / Chandler and Monica...
In the shadow of Sam and Diane, there was another "when will they" couple - Marty and Hannah.
This episode opened the door to "wait - are they going to BE a couple? Are they not?" back in the late 80s.
Little did we know...
This is the saddest of the series
Watching as the chameleon lays her eggs and then dies made me sad and depressed. Yes - I know - Mother Nature and such, but after the previous episodes......
