despite what you think of her choices during this identity crisis, it's a good show to finally have a woman be the focus. Women are not one-dimensional and it's a good to be getting more shows that show that complexity, as well as womens desires. I find the show human to explore some peoples life issues openly and even though billie is the main character so we are following her inner turmoil, all of the characters have some flaws. It puts you on a position where you can understand differemt characters actions for being human yet dislike it too. I kind of like the subtle questions about psychology, monogamy and code switching, women's roles to play wife, wondering who you really are as a person, still able to be a great mom while doing this. also their friends that took them to the sex party are horrible "friends", damn. if there is a 2nd season, I'm not really sure what more could be done, but still interested to see. i hope she finds out who she really is and makes her feel whole, depending on her choices, with or without a man. I finished the show really quick
I "liked" the show for different reasons but I did not like the last episode. The End was a different vibe from the rest, kind of like Riverdale, which I'm not into. whatever director's decision for her to take her moms jacket made it cheasy. still I would like a season 2 to see how it goes
I'm all up for a young con artist that's a woman, but so far I'm not really sure if she's even intelligent + her aim to just be famous is so pretentious and shallow which kind of ruins it. the accent is absolutely horrible oh, so is some of the acting Parts like when her cards are declined and she keeps saying that she'll pay. I don't know if this is done on purpose because maybe it's not her real accent? Or maybe she's not really upset? But in regards to watching the show Its distracting.. I'll see how the next episode is and if ill stick it through
I watched it for the first time
Things I dislike about the movie:
-full grown man marrying a 14 year old girl
- kicking the cat out of the car!
-The ongoing racist characature 'joke'
- some plot aspect were pointless (tomato)
Things I did like about the movie:
- Audrey Hepburn
- Her adorned tassel earplugs
- the scene at Tiffany's engravement and in the toy Store when they were putting on the masks was cute
-Love over money
probably held up better in the 60s than today but i suppose worth a watch at least once
I wish they didn't use the harmful trope of evil/bad person being disabled
I feel like a lot of people didnt understand the movie. When youre blind you picture whats around you in your head, and you use your imagination..thats why when it was from her point of view, such as the pool scene would all of a sudden be a vast ocean.
She had surgery-literally everything she pictured in her head and lived like is completely different. She never judged it and was just experiencing it. She even wasnt dissapointed with what he looked like and still chose to be with him. Seeing colors, roads, shadows, the room, the city, sex from other perspectives, playing with the way we dress ourselves how you look makeup clothing hair color..she never got to do these things before.
The husband would pretend to not be there when she was blind so she would be worried.. He liked her being under his thumb. he watched videos of her over and over to feel in control. he faked a break in and stole the dog because he was jealous. he tampered with her eye drops so she would loose her vision again. she did sleep with another guy but she never experienced being attracted to someone physically before, if you recall the 2 other times she tried to have sex with her husband he couldnt handle it because he, once again, wasnt in control.
When the doctor told her they were tampered with she gained her vision back taking the correct ones and pretended to still be blind... reason maybe because it was scary finding this out or she wanted to know more about how he really was, maybe she still cared about him and wasnt ready to leave him. When she realised he didn't leave the house and was watching her and then finding the letter from assumably a kid in their previous apartment about him stealing the dog, i think that was her confirmation of it being over (because lets be real, thats messed up).
He found the empty bottles and realised shes been continuing taking eye drops.. So at the concert she looks him in the eye while singing showing him she sees what he's done and she's not blind anymore.
The ending after that I'm not 100% sure.. did he pass away? Did she ever get a hold of her babys dad? Who knows. I guess its more about her continuing her life independently?
There was art element to it that maybe some parts had more meaning that I'm unaware of, like the carcass the kid came across or the naked husband covered in blood. but overall it made sense. Could it have been more clear for the audience? maybe yes it would be loved more and have a stronger ending if we had more understanding, but not all movies are like that
this is a nice romantic movie and quite a radical one if you think about it…
1) an illegal abortion, and help to do so without question of if Penny was making the right decision/who/why. Controversial now but even more so at the time
2) when Baby finds out Penny was with Johnny previously, she doesn’t question this or get jealous. she trusts their friendship. Unlike most tropes, there’s no rivalry between the two, she is able to take Penny's criticism and grow, and Penny was able to lean on Baby.
3) Baby likes Johnny and the movie does not criticize this. She is the first to make moves towards him. After they sleep together, she gains more confidence in herself and he respects her as a woman asking what her real name is.
4) When Johnny compliments Baby he talks about her traits, rather than her physical beauty. They both think another is better than the other person seeing traits in each other that the other didn't see, ultimately bringing out their own strengths.
The love story between Baby and Johnny has equal growth between their characters as they help each other. And at the end it's not a "love above everything else for no reason happy ending" story...before the final dance scene, they said goodbye as tho they learned what they did from another when the characters had to part ways with the end of the trip/Johnny being fired.
5) Healthy masculine character traits. Aside from what’s mentioned above, Johnny was there for Penny platonically with no romantic agenda and had respect for both Penny and Baby. The movie showcases Johnny coming into his own. It also shows men crying, when Johnny is sharing with Baby he is seen as less than from the staff and guests, Being nothing but the entertainment both on the dance floor and in the bedroom and taken advantage of. Another scene of Babys father crying when Babys confronts him (and ultimately him admitting he was wrong at the end shaking hands with Johnny).
6) Baby gains confidence through dancing and liking another man other than her father. She also moves from sympathy to empathy when she realizes money class differences and steps up to take Penny's place in the dance number and learn the steps. She stands up for the truth that Jonny didn't steal, which her character wouldn't have done at the beginning of the movie.
Ultimately a coming-of-age story with transformation of Baby’s character, with other background themes
I love Rami as Freddie! Good casting. I also love Freddie and Mary's friendship. I watched this movie a few times since it came out, I miss the scene and Queen is awesome. I took a point off because of a few seconds here and there that could have been a little better, but it's well done. Also the singer from MTL they had add lib certain lines to fit the movie (because solely using Freddie Mercury recordings wouldn't work in a script) sounds EXACTLY like him
nooo I don't want him alive
lol the jailhouse rock bit
Stephanie how could youuuuu
oh you could hear the pain and betrayal in Eugene's voice
Salem is the best idc
it's nice to watch the 70s aesthetic
it's nice to see actresses that don't seem to have cosmetic surgery
would have liked to see what happened sucks there's not a season 2
Avatarrrr
Respect Indigenous uprising #landback
remember watching this ages ago and I loved it. to make the movie like a documentary was brilliant. Much reflection of marginalized communities, oppressors, what humans do to each other. seeing an oppressor become the oppressed gaining back his Humanity once he's no longer human. all raises the question of; what does it mean to be human?
also still makes me cry
movie holds up a mirror to a lot in this society. it has a lot of subtle comedy. I cried at the end
I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid! I don't know if it's the Nostalgia, but I think it still holds up for what it is. there wasn't many movies on female friendships, good for a coming-of-age movie, parallel to the movie Stand By Me
I wish they would remake the show because the plot is great and it would be sweet to see an updated version with new effects
This show was done really well!
he's such a little s*** and felt like I was getting Stockholm syndrome at some points only to be met back with how he's a little ****
I love the direct and editing, which was showcased more each episode. The awareness the show spotlights with humor, and how it progressed and ended was great.
It was done over a few years so smoothly as his physical growth was not jarring despite the duration within a few episodes.
when he looks at Kiki and "loves her" - this guy is an absolute toxic a mess lmao
this episode made me laugh a lot
ahhhhhh psycho killer quest que cest bahbahbahbah
this one was a good episode
Definitely a must-see. It helps compile a lot of information and it's split up into different parts 45 minutes of one topic, an hour on another topic Etc.
There's some things that I think that I would change about the documentary; adding additional information such as a little bit more of what he actually been through since he was a child. although it touched on it, it didn't really give people an awareness of how deep the things that he experienced and how he also experienced abuse from his father which contributed to his assumed body dysmorphia. + how he died, or so much of the other work that he did do, such as building Hospital Wards like the burn section. it's hard to fit everything into a documentary- but given the synopsis of the documentary, it does stay true it while still giving a little slight background info which relates. This man has so much else to share in his entire career and who he is as a person that it's impossible to fit that all in here.
I'm heartbroken from crying so much. he was treated so horribly and cruelly. He was so incredibly strong, he was so sensitive and yet took it all. I don't understand how someone in general could experience so much isolation from fame, so much betrayal, bullying and abuse and not snap and lash out at others. to have so much restraint or love or magic or whatever it is- it seems inhumane. how pure hearted he was that even at his worst state, being sedated out of his mind- his essence of wanting to do good in this world was coming through. just who he was, uncommonly gentle man.
I'm upset, the things that he wanted to bring to this world was so needed, and they took that away from us. I'm disabled/chronically ill and people don't understand how much we really need change and nobody has tried to do what he has, even all these years later.
love you Michael. I'm so sorry for how this world treated you. Thank you for everything that you brought to this earth.
watch "Square One Michael Jackson" instead. It's better.
would also recommend watching "Loving Neverland" after watching "Square One". not to be confused with leaving Neverland
you could still watch this one, but if you are new to the allegations it doesn't give you as much info
Michael Jackson brought me here. I totally get it. there's so many layers to this and it has always been your message. you you were ahead of your time and it was and is nothing to be scrutinized over.
"This is for all the lost children, wishing them well. And wishing them home" !!
a dying place for ancient people who have forgotten the fragile magic of youth. A dying place for those who have forgotten childhood, maturity, and old age are curiously intertwined and not separate. A dying place for those who have grown too still in their thinking
wake up! wake up! oh this is your last chance
maybe the Fountain of Youth isn't a fountain at all
maybe it's a way of looking at things
maybe it's a way of thinking
maybe Kick the Can is the greatest magic of all
I feel so bad for Jordan Chandler, a victim of his familys abuse. extremely sad that his father who was completely absent shows up to USE his son, steals him from his mother and wont give him back, drugs him and coaches him among other things to try to get him to say these lies. that must be absolutely horrendous to live with.
I cannot believe there's people out there who think pedophilia is normal and who unethically try to make a worldwide icon seem like a pedophile in efforts to have their "lifestyle" accepted by others. but even more appalling is the people who took the pedophiles playbook and used the same things, word for word, to make up lies just for money. its sick.
then "Journalists" offering money to fake a story, and all the rest.
I feel so bad for Michael Jackson. it's really hard to imagine how so many people can be completely soulless, just for a dollar.
it does fill in gaps that many people haven't explained so for that reason it's definitely worth a watch
if you're going to watch anything about these allegation at all, watch this one/first
The ENERGY and precision that pours out of this man. Every single beat. Movements are so specifically On Point and doesn't quit.
The control over his singing and extending that beat to his voice with sounds on top of it. so hot how he becomes the music.
oh my God the fact that the dog got so stressed he was planning to die broke my heart how were they not crying
As soon as he put the sunglasses on, he started acting more as a one dimensional animated character and less like a human which cheapens the movie. but the plot is decent, reflecting on capitalism with societal commentary (and some more forward conspiracy alien theories, if you're into that). it doesn't go too deep and stays quite light so it's a simple movie
This was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid, I remember in elementary we had name tags on the first day and I told them my name was Trinity.
The OG Matrix movie is iconic and pioneered a lot of specail affects and modern cinema.
Seeing the philosophical side of the movie probably helps shape someones fondness (or dislike) of the film! but even for the sci fi plot it stands alone.
