I loved how they decided to approach the Black and White Ball of 1966 through the documentary side of it all. Loved seeing the Swans believing they all would be the Guest of Honor and then denying it to the cameras…
This was hands down the best use of Taylor Swift’s Love Story on a redemption arc for one of my favorite characters of this brilliant show. Richie deserves to heal as much as every other character here!
This was A LOT. Triggering, chaotic but a masterclass in tension. This also, explains A LOT of Carmen’s backstory and character. Just… wow.
The thing about Poor Things is that sometimes is just a bit too much about everything and nothing at once. But in a way, that is what director Yorgos Lanthimos knows how to do best. Emma Stone delivers, without question, one of the best performances of her career by bringing Bella Baxter to life. Her colorful and visually stunning journey through the gorgeous and surrealist versions of London, Lisbon, Alexandria and Paris is every bit funny, nasty, grotesque, dark, sad and emotional. I love the structure of the entire story, how it evolves with color, by development and world building through Bella’s experiences. As the main character discovers hard truths about the world, we get to know fascinating and bizarre characters all around her, with truly remarkable perfomances of the entire cast. At the very end, is a film about female liberation, sex, love, obssesion and science that may not be everyone’s cup of tea but that is ok for me.
From the first videos we saw from the tour on social media, we knew RENAISSANCE was a musical experience made for the big screen. The film combines the smashing thrills and hits of the massive RENAISSANCE World Tour with a intimate peek into Beyoncé's personal world. A 2hr and 48 minutes journey that perfectly encapsulates 4 years of hard work, defining new heights of spectacle, pushing boundaries and a testament for the LGBTQ+ community and it's important legacy and culture. Even with a few moments of the show left out, the concert film aspect is as exhilarating and entertaining as ever, with almost everything you want to see from the tour: the biggest hits, the dance breaks, the lavish costumes, the high notes, the mute challenge and so much more. The documentary side, placed into different segments of the show, offers an interesting perspective into Beyoncé's craft, her crew, the dancers, her family and her complete input into creating the one massive spectacle we get to see in film.
THIS A REMINDER: Experience this in the biggest, loudest, most immersive screen possible cause it's absolutely WORTH IT. The sound, the visual effects and every transition is truly SPECTACULAR.
Loki having his Infinity War moment was just insane. But I feel like erasing timelines is much worse than erasing half of all life. The scene at the bar was special and the vinyl shop scene felt incredible anxious and mind-bending in the best way possible. Science/Fiction is easily one of the best episodes Marvel has ever done and one of the best moments in the entire MCU's history.
The scope, the spectacle and the frantic Swifties screaming at the top of their lungs is all there. The Eras Tour is a musical experience and a journey that only suffers from cutting up numbers that were essencial part of the show itself. Anyways, seeing this spectacle on an IMAX screen was BRUTAL in every way and immersive at every aspect. Bravo, Miss Swift. BRAVO.
A devastating tale of greed, violence, betrayal and cultural clash set during the Black Gold fever in the 1900s. Chilling performances by DeNiro and Gladstone with DiCaprio playing the biggest and hopeless fool in history. Scorsese combines the best elements of his previous work into a 3 and a half hour dark odyssey where tragedy awaits at every turn. Some might argue that the running time is too much, but every nasty bit of it has a way to work in the overall story.
Honestly? This is one of the best entries in the Saw saga... and that is saying A LOT, considering the mess that the Saw saga has been.
First, it's a story that follows John Kramer's storyline in it's entirety, focused on his devilish game against a group of con artists that truly deserve what happens to them. (And you can't even try to like these a-holes.)
Tobin Bell proves that the notorious Jigsaw killer has more tricks up his sleeve and shows us his most personal game in the franchise. Amanda Young's return and her dialogues with John are a perfect relief to the grotesque imagery that we have come to recognize in the Saw films, but this time, the effects are better and bloodier. With clever twists, a vicious set of new traps, a surprising antagonist in Synnøve Macody Lund's character and the glorious return of the Zepp theme taken into new hights courtesy of Charlie Clouser's score... Saw X may be a prequel to all the messy sequels that followed the original classic, but Is a promising return to form that has given the saga a new chance to keep the game going.
Also, I feel weird by not feeling bad about ANY of the other characters and their fates in the movie, like, they all could choke for trying to mess with good old' John... but to involve a child in their buffoonery? Electric chair, to all of them. PERIOD.
How is it possible that EVERY SINGLE FRAME in this visually stunning adventure is so gorgeously animated? I LOVED IT FROM START TO FINISH. Is a thrilling, epic, funny, mindblowing story with a cliffhanger that was just pure evil... still, an epic setup that we will have to wait til god knows when to see it all unfold.
A cinematic achievement in ICONIC casting, set designs, music, wardrobe and visual insanity. Everything about Barbie is aesthetically pleasing, entertaining and emotionally crushing... a film that has everything! From dolls having an identity crisis, a really weird Barbie, Will Ferrell as the head of Mattel, a planned choreography for a bespoked Dua Lipa song and outrageously funny satires about patriarchy, toxic masculinity, comercial stereotypes, depression and beloved childhood memories. A pop tart party experience by director Greta Gerwig where everyone is welcome and doesn't feel at all cliché or cringey... on the contrary, the entire film is the celebration of an icon and a positive message about what it really means to discover purpose, existencialism in the modern ages and female empowerment for all generations.
Is it good? Yes. Is is visually stunning? ABSOLUTELY. But is it a bit too long? Maybe. But just like the first installment, is an experience worth watching in the biggest screen possible. Saw it in 3D at 48 HFR and it was a breathtaking viewing experience.
It's an extremely twisted and dark take on Hollywood in the 1920s but is an spectacle alright. Every aspect of it, casting, cinematography, sets, and those crazy ass parties are part of the whole cocktail of mess that Chazelle chosed to create. In ways, is a hate letter to the industry but makes an interesting homage to cinema, to the experience of watching movies and the magic behind making them, putting in all the nasty, dark and grotesque side of fame with absolutely no shame.
I DEMAND ANSWERS AND I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS LUMON’S ENDGAME HERE… WORLD DOMINATION?
Spectacular from start to finish. Visually trippy, insane battle sequences and mind blowing cameos. Must be seen more than once to fully dissect the entire easter eggs that are hidden. Its a blast for diehard fans and newcomers alike… if you have been following the MCU from the beginning, this new entry is one for the books!
AVOID ALL SPOILERS IF YOU CAN.
No Way Home is an spectacle from start to finish... Its everything you want it to be and SO MUCH MORE! With so much fan service, excellent visual effects and a wildly emotional story, this new entry in the MCU is glorious in every way. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!
It's a... start? Well, it's hard to explain but coming of age stories usually start off like this pilot episode with introductions of characters and establishing their dynamics. You can definitively see Guadagnino's signature filmmaking on this one. Strange troup of characters but I'm really interested to see where this goes.
Of course Jamie Lee Curtis would be a go-to choice for a guest star in an episode that goes bananas from the very beginning. Loved seeing the gang back together in a new, fresh dynamic but back into my personal favorite format of secret missions, spies and sploosh insanity.
A horrifying reality all right, ANTEBELLUM really is a twisted nightmare that could have been better with a little extra plot or a more innovative twist but it still a creepy story with a powerful protagonist and bone chilling antagonists that you only wish that they could be punished even worse. It has powerful elements and beautiful yet nightmarish visuals, but it doesn't live up entirely to its premise.
A film that stretches existence, self, identity, memories and delusion into a rabbit hole bizarre proportions. Much like Kaufman's previous works, this movie is a mind bender challenge that takes viewers into very uncomfortable places and questions reality at every turn. Is not exactly a film for everybody, with many changes from the original material (most of the horror elements of the book are absent and replaced with Twilight Zone-sque scenes) and it really requires you to pay attention to details to fully understand it but feel free to navigate the premise and the hidden visuals that can be interpreted in many ways. At the end, you can take your own conclusions about everything that the movie shows, but only one thing is for sure: nothing is what it seems.
If you like Regular Show, Close Enough takes the comedy tone and insanity of that show and takes it into a whole new level of insane comedy gold. With no restrictions and more adult language, common stories for parents are twisted into unexpected and wild places, leading to hillarious settings and moments. Really funny characters, brilliant guest stars and sneaky easter eggs to other works from Quintel. A nice option to just relax and get involved with simple and very comical stories.
Michaela Coel sets the table for a necessary conversation about the true nature of drugs, sex, rape, identity, friendship and the complex moral and psychological issues surrounding victims of sexual abuse. Raw, brilliantly written and fulled with daring performances by the complete cast, I MAY DESTROY YOU invites audiences to talk about it and take action.
Not your typical show yet a hillarious, delirious, extremely hysterical, at times insanely violent animation. Another monstrous creation from the mind of Justin Rolland that is just as chaotic, dark and meta as Rick and Morty! Filled with glorious references, all-stars guest voices and dramatic musical cues that only make the show better, Solar Opposites is just a triumph for streaming animation.
Extremely funny premiere with two guest stars that absolutely steal the episode! The shadows are back and better than ever.
A brilliant twist on the classic supernatural story; Elisabeth Moss goes for the win on this one, proving once again that she can play a damaged yet strong woman with impecable skills. The story goes into shocking places, mixing domestic violence, murder, paranoia and horror in your own home. Many will be divided into the mystery of the Invisibility, but I think it's a nice twist on what we know as supernatural.
The thing about THE HUNT is that is an absolute blast of a horror comedy. Demented, violent and a bit times shocking; this film is an example of the twisted mind of Hollywood's writters (Damon Lindelof has even more twisted tricks up his sleeve) and a highly political satire of violence, racism, social superiority, guns and nasty comments on social media. The plot catches you straight from the beginning and twists the knife (see what I did there?) into a non stop frenzy of comical violence and a hero in Betty Gilpin's insane performance.
Shocking, controversial and based on actual events. An inside look into a media scandal so twisted and so powerful that changed the way we watch the news... Really well acted, a straight-forward plot and brilliant performances by Theron, Kidman and Robbie.
PARASITE explores the survival instinct and the centuries-long clash of the classes in one of the most unconventional ways in cinema history; the plot follows a street-smart family taking hold of a wealthy family using lies and pretentions with brutal consequences leading to an unimaginable twist. From the very beginning, PARASITE is a tale of greed embued in the worst aspects of the social classes with a selection of brilliantly written characters, raw acting and excellent locations; this is a story that goes into extremely dark places when the plot reveals a shocking twist, but in the end, that very same darkness that surrounds this story creates a macabre masterpiece and one of the best films of 2019 and hell, even the decade.
Much of the best moments in 'The Rise of Skywalker' are the ones filled with Fan-service. In this manner, JJ manages to create a rollercoaster of emotions for this thrilling end of the Skywalker story and brings satisfying answers to HUGE mysteries of the trilogy (and the whole saga). Filled with jaw-dropping twists, unexpected outcomes and a more straight-forward plot, Rise of Skywalker course-corrects many of the bad aspects about the previous episodes in its very first act. Many will be divided about the direction for the whole film, but the finale proves to be what fans and none-fans alike didn't expected to watch in a very positive way.
"Always meant to be together, but never meant to be."
DAMN. This show really brings you to tears in every. damn. episode.
Can't wait the direction it takes on the third cycle.
Chookity pok pok POOK!
