VIPOG12Thats a lot of the N word! Like in 10 times a minute...
It's so weird that it is offensive when other people say it, but when you are black its okai.
This is just weird to me and I can't stand it, and it makes it unwatchable for me, sorry!Edit: The last thing I want to say about it is: Or EVERYBODY is allowed to say it, or NOBODY is allowed to say it.
Not some people do and some people don't! Its racist when a non black person is saying it. Well its also racist when other skin colors aren't allowed to say it based on their skin color. So lets just all stop saying it instead... End of story.loading replies

Anyway, another great episode that nicely expanded Ellie's backstory - bonus points for the Mortal Kombat II appreciation, too :nerd:

@dw11 I understand that the world may seem like a magical place growing up, but I think you still lack some maturity if you think that acceptance and inclusion is about ‘laughing at gay stereotypes’. Maybe place yourself in their position for a second. Would you feel included if there were no straight white men in media, except Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation? So only the most exaggerated, stereotypical version of a straight white man. Does that seem right or inclusive to you? Gay people exist everywhere and they deserve stories told about them, you’re gonna have to mature and adapt to that. Or you can just stick to movies and tv shows specifically targeted at people like you, but simultaneously leave no cultural footprint whatsoever, such as The Terminal List or anything produced by The Daily Wire. The choice is yours.

@2ls1t These are the same kind of people who would complain about black people being in movies one century ago. Deep down they know they’re out of touch and behind the curve, but it takes years to realize that. It’s fucking embarrassing, I apologize on the behalf of straight white men.
DRINK THE OOZE!
Pros:
- Excellent performances
- Delightfully weird. More goop than your average Marvel movie.
- Some of the most stunning visuals I have ever seen.
- The humor in this movie is so utterly stupid and absurd and I love it.Cons:
- Dialogue which seems to have been written by a twelve year old
- An unnecessarily confusing plotPersonally, I think this is the best Marvel movie since No Way Home.
How many holes do you have?

So boo hoo, poor you, no one cares, now shut the fuck up.
A fantastic short film that’s bound to become the major highlight of this season for most, while also likely to trigger some mentally deficient adults.
One of its best qualities is that you could in theory tell this story with a straight couple , and it wouldn’t lessen any of its emotional impact.
It’s such an original, creative angle for a zombie apocalypse show, and Nick Offerman/Murray Bartlett both deliver career best performances here. If their section was a bit more fleshed out, I genuinely think you could make a great indie/arthouse film out of it.
I also love how it portrays a hardcore Republican character without making him some incapable buffoon, we don’t get enough of that in movies and tv.Ps: I’m pretty sure they used an existing piece of music during the marriage montage , I’ve heard it before but can’t quite place where it’s from

If you are referring to the music around minute 56: it is "on the nature of daylight " and it has been used in multiple movies like Arrival and Shutter Island .

How sad to have such a limited view of what this show can be
Pretentious but shallow piece of chaos. I hate movies that are artsy for the sake of being artsy. White Noise is worse than bad, it's the kind of bad that thinks it's deep and profound, it feels like provocation for provocation's sake.
I admire it for its creativity and ambition but this is one of those movies that gets off on being weird, which I really dislike. The dialogue and manner of speech was truly awful and distracting. The words play out so contrived, like they were told to perform a table read on set. Noah Baumbach watched I'm Thinking Of Ending Things and thought, "I can do that", and somehow made something even more ~~I Am Very Smart.
Bless anyone that finishes this movie. Not for me in the slightest. I feel like this is the kind of movie you've gotta be in the right mood to enjoy. I was not in the right mood.

@cutecruel Ryan Reynolds movies seem more like your thing.
Not sure why everybody is so excited about this movie. The detective part was much weaker than in the first movie, and the rest is just a typical Netflix annoying propaganda.
The detective is gay now, of course. The main villain is a white male, of course. The most brutal guy (Batista) is a sissy mama's boy, of course. And the smartest, bravest, strong and independent hero is a black woman, of course. So tired of this Netflix crap.
Just before you making her a hero in your eyes remember that just for the sake of vengeance she burned the original Mona Lisa painting without any doubt, which one of the most precious art heritage of our civilization.loading replies
@ragnarlothbrok you sound dumber than Batista's character. Felt personally attacked?
Saw it at the Sneak Preview Night, and it was hilarious! Totally recommend it to both female and male alike. Whether you've seen the original show or not. I hadn't, but people seated next to me had, and they enjoyed it just as much.

Half way through. I'm loving it. I have special memories to Pinocchio. When I was a little kid my big brother heard me crying in bed cause I got afraid of death. Never before did he show me he cared for me and even though he was only 13 (I was 6) he came into my room and calmed me down by telling a story about Pinocchio. It's my earliest memory. And this just brings it all back. Now I get to watch this with my 8 year old and she's mesmerised. I don't care what anybody says, this is magic.

Review by WinsomeHax
I'm old enough to remember the original Hellraiser (1987). That was a true horror film. There were horrible people, doing horrible things. It left you feeling really quite disturbed about the worst aspects of human nature.
The follow-up Hellraiser 2 (1988) managed to recapture a small part of that. But after that it was downhill fast. The sequels were nothing but parodies.
Well, for some reason, Hulu decided to remake it.
Shamefully, the film fails on nearly every level. It's not well written (terrible dialogue) and poorly acted. There's little horror and you simply do not care about anyone or anything happening in it. It doesn't give you a reason to care either. The Cenobites are not scary, or grotesque looking... they just look like cheap make-up and some bad CGI.
Like the later Hellraiser films It has more in common with trashy slasher flicks than anything else. Poorly done ones at that.
As is common today they gender-switched the main role. Did it add anything? Nope. In fact, I keep hearing about what a good performance Jamie Clayton was as The Priest. I don't know what they were watching. There isn't a performance, it's literally all make up and some lines read out flat. Look at the originals: Pinhead's character is all about small, slow movements and looming dread. He's literally an overwhelming threat and you are the prey. Not in this one though.
Or look at the secondary villain. In the original it's Uncle Frank, who is an awful person who fully deserves his fate. Even in the end as he's pulled apart by the Cenobites... he's drawn to it, and much as he tried to run he still wants what the Cenobites offer. In this new version... there's none of that same grimy, disturbing look into subcultures. It's all clean, boring and badly acted.
Watch Hellraiser (1987) and Hellraiser 2 (1988) and stop there. They did it better on much smaller budgets.

@winsomehax I respect most of your points, and agree with some. The original 2 first movies are unarguably the BEST of the franchise. But some people must understand that "gender-swithcing" as you said, does not have to ADD anything to the film. The original character has actually no gender definition. The very fact that you were expecting something big from the gender-switch already shows that you were, at least a little, annoyed by Pinhead portrayed by a female. Relax. Giving these important roles to women and LGBTQ+ people is not about the screenplay, but about addressing respect and space for these people in real life.

VIP8Yeah I mean, it is very much that movie. If you want my unfiltered opinion: it's glossy & loud, it's discount Tarantino/Ritchie, it's engineered to be forgotten about almost instantly, it's very Youtube reviewer friendly, it’s edited for people with no attention span, it’s postmodern and cringy; it's all of that. It's aiming to be a 6, and I was kinda expecting it to hit that target given how much I was into David Leitch' previous directorial effort. Unfortunately, this is hampered by the fact that it very much feels like a product of the pandemic. I'm pretty sure everything was shot on sound stages, and you can really tell, because the effects are dogshit. The same goes for the action, most of it feels like it was choreographed based on what was possible for the day. It's a shame, because good visuals and punchy action are two of the key ingredients if you want to make this kind of movie work. Now, its biggest saving grace are the characters and some of the comedy. I think most of the characters are quite well done and colorful (props to the writing and actors), especially the duo played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree-Henry (again, even if they feel like they walked straight out of a Guy Ritchie movie). It did make me laugh occasionally, but there's also a lot of cringe in it, especially with its obnoxious use of bathos and cameos by people I didn't need to see. I'm also getting pretty sick of the Marvelization of movie dialogue, I could’ve sworn some of Pitt’s lines in this were written with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in mind. The story itself is a mess pretty much right from the start and completely flies off the rails in the third act (no pun intended). I'm not sure if that's due to the writing or editing though. In true Tarantino fashion it's told out of order, but here it doesn't enhance the experience in a positive way. I don't know, I'd wait for this to appear on streaming, it's only occasionally fun and not really worth of the big screen.

@erulezz This a movie for cinema lovers. Not cheap horror popcorn movie lovers.
It continues to look awesome. It builds atmosphere not characters. The dwarf scenes are nice though. Can't really tell whether the main story is any good. Let's see. Episode two is innocuous family entertainment. Perhaps a bit dragged-out at times (w/o being rewarded by a slow character portray or something). Thus, I dare to say, a bit boring.
Like everything LotR, love stories are told extremely dull. The raft guy is obviously attracted to her. Who wouldn't? But why don't they show her body in that wet night gown (or whatever this is)? Why do they let this pass? They could have filmed this very classy and not cheap at all. Likewise the story between the other elf and the witch/maid is extremely implicit. I mean I get it, elves don't behave like savages but to me that seems all a bit too American: violence is okay, but cursing and t&a is prohibited. Not sure whether that sets the tone for the whole show but I would prefer a few more romantic (mature and sexy) stories. It probably shouldn't go full GoT but a somewhat more adult approach would be very much appreciated.
PS: I like the intro animation.

The Lord of the Rings, like Star Wars were always children stories. Which does not mean they can't be enjoyed by adults
I don't consider "good for its time" argument valid, but even with that in mind, this movie is a bad one.
Whoever wrote the script does not understand how math, science and universe in general fundamentally work which results in cringy moments. There are always assumptions in SciFi, but you have to make them consistent with reality or you should have explicitly made it clear that movie universe is purely fictional. I don't recommend watching this film if you graduated equivalent of European high school some time after Enlightenment.
And of course it is super long and boring, with constant multiple shots of the same thing, which are overly long by themselves and often are not needed for the plot.

For those people coming to this movie expecting another MCU or Nolan action fest you'll be disappointed. This movie is supposed to be a dark, raw, gritty representation of Batman where he's new and inexperienced and still finding his way. The source material such as the Long Halloween was exactly like this (there was event a 2 part animated movie last year).
You have to approach this movie more as an art house movie with a dark cinematic tone that walks you through the story. I mean there were also a lot of great action scenes woven in such as the car chase, the end fights and such to make it fairly strong on the action but that's not what THIS representation is supposed to be.
If you're an American with in inability to be away from your phone for 5 minutes or you have the attention span of a Gnat this isn't for you. If you want a Batman experienced and confident, this isn't for you. If you want Nolan style large, bright visuals.....this isn't for you.
If you want something raw, dark and gritty with a focus more on Batman coming to terms with things and batman learning to be "The greatest detective" then you might enjoy it.
For a lot of people saturated in the MCU blanket who can't enjoy a more drawn out noir film then skip this movie.

VIP8Between this and Cherry, it’s becoming more and more clear that the MCU’s best director is called Kevin Feige.
Netflix clearly spent a lot of money on this, you can feel the price of your subscription going up with every new set piece that’s introduced, but the end results are still unforgivingly bland and generic nonetheless.
It’s their attempt to compete with Bond, Bourne or Mission Impossible, but if anything this feels like a poser imitation of those superior blockbuster franchises. The plot is in fact literally ripping off both Skyfall and The Bourne Identity at the same time, but forgets about any of their depth in regards to story and character.
The Russos are clearly trying to recapture that same tone and spark from their Captain America: The Winter Soldier days, but they end up making something that’s more akin to the quality of Red Notice.
In terms of directing they kinda got outdone by their own second unit director with his Netflix action flick, as I’d argue that Extraction is a marginally better film than this.
The action’s poorly done and cheaply put together, lots of annoying editing choices (heavy overuse of drone shots, quick cuts and can the Russos pick a normal font for once?), corny dialogue, distractingly bad CGI, boring visuals and music (why is everything so low contrast, foggy and muddy?); not a lot to recommend about this one.
The acting’s fine, Evans is having a blast, but I have absolutely no idea why an extremely picky actor like Ryan Gosling chose this script in the first place. It seems like a paycheck movie for someone of his caliber. Just watch The Nice Guys instead of this if you want to see Goose in an action comedy, we don’t need these 200 million dollar direct to streaming action films.4/10

The tone of this movie is all over the place; it is an absurdist collage of genres that never capitalises on any single one to great effect. It's both fantastically shot while being absolute drivel, it's a complete whiplash in quality from one facet to the next. Not once was I sure what type of response this movie was trying to illicit from me. Was I supposed to laugh at the absurdity of it all? Enjoy the annoyingly well shot action sequences? Be scared by the slow building horror scenes? Chuckling from the poor acting and terrible script work?
Either James was shooting to make The Room of horror movies as his return to the genre, or something here went horribly wrong. Or it'll become a cult classic because of how stupid it is. What a wild ride, and sadly not one I can say I enjoyed. The Saw references were a nice touch though.loading replies
