Circle

Circle is an experimental indie very interesting and definitely succeeded. The story, in the original treatment, leaves the viewer glued to the screen from start to finish. The final, perhaps, is a bit obvious and rushed. Pity...

The Lovely Bones

A really good movie but sometimes too slow and repetitive. My opinion: the ending could be much more compelling and, indeed, almost leaves a bitter taste.

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad is THE TV show. Never seen anything better. Recommended viewing for all. Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Giancarlo Esposito, Bob Odenkirk and all others give life to characters that will remain in history and in the hearts of everyone, no ifs, ands or buts. Differently from other series, the ending leaves open anything and nothing is put there by chance. Everything back. All this creates a universe so true, so frightening, so shocking, so wonderful.

Irrational Man

Slow film, tedious and often inaccurate in his philosophical treatise. We can save the actors, very good, but it is probably one of the lowest points of Woody Allen, probably without ideas from some time.

Wedding Crashers

Wonderful comedy! Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, together, are a guarantee. With the two of them, guaranteed laughs! I saw it three times and the fun has never gone!

Hard Candy

A very pleasant surprise! From a low-budget project I did not expect a high-quality feel like it. Ellen Page is always wonderful in every role she plays. The story is interesting and is tactfully with an issue as difficult as that of pedophilia. Very raw at times and, therefore, recommended for adult audiences.

Æon Flux

I would have given 6 but then the final rises a bit the plot, making it slightly more complex than expected. Excellent Charlize Theron have made me opt for the 7.

Hunger

Raw, dirty and violent, the film sheds light on the situation of IRA members in 1981 mercilessly. A plan sequence of more than 10 minutes emphasizes the performance above the average of Fassbender.

Taxi Driver

What a great film! The young Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster give an absurd interpretation in a film that is pure poetry. Scorsese, as always, proves to be a master of direction, photography and screenplay. Masterpiece to watch and re-watch to be fully appreciated.

The Great Gatsby

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the finest actors of all time, did not discover myself, but particularly in this film, he seems born for the part of the Great Gatsby. The final, leaves the viewer breathless...

The 40 Year Old Virgin

Funny comedy, suitable to spend a relaxed evening. The genre has definitely better, but certainly we can not complain. Without infamy and without praise.

Brothers

I loved everything about this film. Without revealing anything, the ending leaves simply stunned if it captures the poetry behind. Maguire and Gyllenhaal are fantastic in their parts. Touching as few, I believe that in the face of certain emotions, director, screenplay and various technicalities fade into the background.

1408

Mike Enslin is a writer who is "fun" to debunk myths about ghosts and spirits. When he gets to room 1408 of a major hotel, his mind takes over and most painful memories resurface with all their might. John Cusack is a really good actor and seems born for this role. The story, at times a bit confused, hides many messages to be seized.

Black Mirror

Black Mirror is a punch in the stomach. Each episode, changing location and protagonists, you displace totally, you kicks and then leave you alone to think about what comes the human being is going. Great expectations for the third season!

Blindness

Fernando Meirelles is a great director, no doubt about it. Blindness is a philosophical masterpiece where the blind are those who see and those who see are blind. Unbelievable plot, outstanding actors.

Fight Club

Give an opinion on Fight Club is difficult. Why Fight Club is a strange movie, amazing, totally freaked out and terribly addictive. The story, immediately engaging, surprising by the minute until the plot twist that leaves much open-mouthed. The cast is exceptional and the end result could only be the ones to make history forever. Fight Club, in short, is a cult that no one should miss, a real gem of cinema.

Monster: The Josef Fritzl Story

The documentary tells a disturbing and little known story but this is not enough to make a good product. In some places certain inaccuracies and obscurities are really unacceptable.

Inspector Coliandro

Police comedy that, surprisingly for an italian TV series, has everything: rhythm, just enough humor and a good plot. The legendary inspector Coliandro, then, is an unforgettable character in every facet.

Ender's Game

Ender's Game is a film full of cliché and twists so predictable that the viewer imagines the end already by the middle of the film. Actors uninspired and unconvincing (including Harrison Ford) make the whole film decidedly ordinary.

Identity

Apparently a normal psychological thriller, turns out in reality as something more sophisticated than usual. Found themselves stuck in a motel because of a violent storm, some people apparently unknown discover they have much in common ... Maybe too! A mysterious murderess does the rest ...
The actors give good performances and the direction is certainly well made, even if it never reaches peaks of excellence. At times almost splatter, the film is not for the faint of heart.
The final also, do not want spoilers, reveals a search for the adapted screenplay not by all and, although something seems a bit obvious, a few turns of the plot really leave you speechless.

Video Game High School

The second season is a bit 'subdued but generally each episode makes you laugh and in particular the last season is really hilarious. Done well also for gamers more careful than, perhaps, in this kind of productions do not accept major errors on their favorite media. Recommended!

The classic American comedy themed zombies. Fun, little else to say.

One Hour Photo

Robin Williams gives incredible interpretation in a film that started well, intriguing the viewer, but then it lose in an hour and a half quite obvious and predictable at various points. An excellent performance of the actors and the psychology of the film is disturbing and terrible but, no doubt, could there be something more in terms of plot and photography.

ACAB : All Cops Are Bastards

Stefano Sollima staged a hard and raw representation of the modern reality of insecurity and corruption of certain jobs. ACAB is a movie very violent and full, one might say "unfortunately", of truth.

Inception

One of the best films of Nolan. Exceptional cast and intriguing history are the strengths of a product that, as always, is directed superbly.

Interstellar

I love Nolan, and this is a fact. I find it a brilliant director, perhaps controversial, but brilliant. Interstellar is a real journey in the universe. Exceptional actors, dubbing unusually perfectly timed, physical theories reproduced in detail (who will see the film will understand) and an almost obsessive attention to detail, combined with an exceptional direction that Nolan has accustomed us, already make Interstellar the movie of his year. To give that extra, though, and make Interstellar a masterpiece that will remain in history, is the soundtrack of the master Hans Zimmer which is the best part of the film, not to demerits of the other sectors, but it is really something exceptional, capable to accompany the most of every scene and then suddenly interrupted by the deafening silence of space.

Cleaner

A good thriller. Nothing fancy but a good pastime. Sometimes a lot, perhaps too confusing, shooting toward the end.

Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul is the spin-off of the masterpiece Breaking Bad. We will discover the origins of James McGill, known as Saul Goodman. Nothing happens by chance and also a cool guy as our Saul had to fight to get what he has. The first season is well made, but certainly not to the levels of Breaking Bad. Even the latter, however, in his first season didn't reach the excellence of its ending part so I'm confident that, with the coming seasons, also Better Call Saul can take off.
