Excellent movie. Takes place in two rooms, and only 90 minutes long. Jake Gyllenhaal is fantastic.
This movie is fucking awful. I enjoyed the last 10-12 minutes of it but I don't know if it was because it was almost over or because of the awesome cameos by Jason Mamoa, Lee Majors, and Heather Thomas and Blake Shelton's cover of the theme song. The rest of the movie is just garbage.
This is a really good movie, better than it's being rated. McCarthy wrote and directed Spotlight and was a creator on The Loudest Voice in the Room. It's sweet and depressing and everything is done well in it. It's not an action movie and it's slow and long, but it's wonderful.
This is just really well done sci-fi.
For anybody who likes the books, this is kind of great. The Chevy Chase Fletch movies are good Chevy Chase movies, but this is a good Fletch movie. Jon Hamm is wonderful.
Meh, I've got to say more than five words, but "meh" pretty much sums it up. It's set in Hawaii, so it's pretty to look at, and there's enough going on to want to finish it, but it's not beyond just being watchable.
Some hard-care right-wing revisionist propaganda. Poor oligarch rancher-victim and Indians who steal cattle. That said, I'm not halfway through season one and I don't how many bodies they've piled up. It's worth a watch but it's clearly got an agenda.
Excellent. I was afraid that the choice to be in black and white was pretentious nonsense, but it doesn't distract at all. Five minutes in and you forget it's in black and white. It also looks gorgeous and the way the black and white is graded may be the reason. I'm not sure it would look as good in color. The only negative thing that I could say about the show is that you can't watch it and do something else. There are long stretches without any dialogue and much of the movie is in Italian. I usually find it dstracting when English movies have the characters speak a language other than English. I would prefer that the imaginary people only pretend to speak a foreign language. In this case though, they use the foreign language to show Tom's character progression. His lack of ability to speak Italian at the beginning of the show and his fluency at the end tells you something about the character. This is just well done, and I hope that they adapt the next book Riply Underground.
This is actually quite good. It's not great, but if you're in an M. Night mood, this'll scratch the itch. I suspect that much of the criticism of this film on Trakt is due to Trakt's persistent problem with the anti-woke crowd downvoting films/series that either they haven't watched or films/series, like this one, that accurately depict the world.
This is an average film. If you're in the mood for atmospheric horror, your time won't be wasted. If you are not in the mood, watch something else, and if you're a conservative, QUIT REVIEWING FILMS BASED ON YOUR BIGOTRY AND POLITICS. I'm sick of it.
Disturbing, but dumb. It's 2 1/2 hours long. If it were 90 minutes or so, it's worth the watch, but as long as it is, you're glad when it's over. [spoiler]It's essentially The Wicker Man.[spoiler]
I can't believe I haven't seen this. This is the first Terminator movie. This should so be remade today and updated.
Nearly perfect. Nothing wasted. It's in color BTW.
This doesn't suck. It's remarkably un-sucky if you're looking to scratch a sci-fi robot itch. I enjoyed it and if you go in with the correct expectations and are in the mood for a movie like this, you will too.
I'm not finished watching this yet, but 7 episodes in, it's excellent. This is just wonderful hardboiled crime television Carla Gugino just made my if-she's-in-it I'll-watch-ti list. I'm probably going to go back and watch the Karen Sisco show she did for USA a few years ago. This show, Jett, owes a lot to Elmore Leonard and writers like him. Jett plays like a Leonard character, think female Chilli Palmer. If you like crime fiction like Leonard, Jim Thompson, Patricia Highsmith, Lawrence Block, et al, and you like caper films, you'll love this show.
Luc Besson does gun-fu female assassin movie. If that's what you're looking for, this delivers. Lucy is better.
Oh yeah, this episode is a flat-out 10/10! Beautiful.
Unfairly maligned. I have no trouble recommending this to anyone who hasn't seen either of The Thing movies. This is a prequel, so if you haven't seen either film, watch this first and then the original. The original is better so watching it last makes sense. If you have seen the original, this one fleshes out some of the beginning very nicely. As sequels go, this one is great compared to something like the Matrix sequels.
Solid 3 hour prison series. I just binged the whole thing and it held my attention. Well written. Well acted. Not cliched. The only thing I can think of comparing it to would be the HBO series Oz only British.
This is better than people are giving it credit for. Very much a M.A.S.H. in Afghanistan vibe.
This is just a boring movie. Twenty minutes before it was over I almost turned it off to go to bed. Great cast. Boring movie.
Good movie marred by the shallow simple minded treatment of overpopulation. Worth watching but no thinking person can take it seriously.
IMO, Better than The Boys.
God, I forgot what a gut punch watching this movie is. They ought to do one of the other books as a sequel. I think I'm going to change my rating to a 9. Fantastic cast. Great story.
Pretentious crap. That pretty much sums it up. The acting is good.
Very good watch. I went in not knowing anything and was entertained the whole time. It's like a tightly-plotted play.
Too. Damned. Long. This is undoubtedly one of the better Bond films. It plays down the silliness while still being fun. It's just way longer than any movie should be. I'll give it another watch soon (maybe after running through the DC Bond movies in order) but over two and a half hours is too long. Schedule an intermission maybe?
This is good. It's not Casablanca, but if you had brought this home from Blockbuster because you liked the box art... you'd have felt like got a win. Order a pizza, grab a six-pack, watch a vampire movie. This director is doing some interesting stuff. "I See You" was pretty good and also kind of distinct.
I thought it was fantastic, but I'm really curious to know what people who aren't already familiar with the story think, I know who all these characters are and what their relationships are. I know what a mentat is (unlike my spell check apparently). I wonder if it is as awe-inspiring to someone coming into the universe for the first time.
I'm really enjoying this. I hadn't read the comic and went in largely blind, but this is really good. We've seen a ton of post-apocalyptic content in the last several years and it may be getting cliched, but this presents an interesting take. I am worried that the story doesn't seem to be working towards resolving itself. If they can tie it up in the next three episodes, it will have been a good watch.
Easily the best Star Wars since the 80s. God, it makes me pine for some animation in the Terminator or Aliens universe.
