I haven't loved this season as a whole but 'The Black Queen' is without a doubt the best episode of the season (followed by the Pilot and Driftmark). With the most emotion, character moments and payoffs, the direction, the writing, the score, it's all at the shows best. Without spoiling anything, the anguish and the fury I've been left with make this one of the best episodes HBO has produced within this universe.
The first two episodes were fantastic. It's silly to compare this to game of thrones or hotd considering how antithetical the source materials are to one another. The trailers and character posters looked like they had some spotty cgi and tacky costumes but it all looks stunning in this nearly billion dollar first season. It's already better than any of the hobbit movies and im wildly excited for whats to come after tempered expectations before watching.
Premiere was a riot. Couldn't be happier Nathan is back to dissect our minds
Billionaire propaganda. Nothing redeemable about depicting those destroying this planet and its people struggling to survive on it as anything more.
Completely original and different from anything Marvel has done yet and probably the best Phase 4 show or movie alongside 'Shang-Chi', 'WandaVision', 'Loki' and 'Hawkeye'. The hate on this seems entirely contrived and based around the fact that the series is about a teenage girl, a teenage girl that is Pakistani, and about a teenage girl that is Pakistani that doesn't have exactly the same powers as she does in the comics. As if comics don't retcon all the time and Pakistani teenage girls don't exist.
Iman Vellani is super charismatic and entertaining. The inclusion and slice of life writing are compelling alongside creative direction and cinematography. More of this please Marvel and less of whatever the hell 'Love and Thunder' and 'Multiverse of Madness' were!
Gorgeous animation and visuals, tone and story. I'm not sure I want to keep watching the series because I'm not convinced another episode will top this masterpiece short.
The best MCU show not named 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.', the finale wasn't perfect from a narrative standpoint but it's easily the most satisfying ending we could have gotten. Proves the Mephisto problem right, while bringing in a villain behind the curtain in the final episode does respect the fans, it was dissappinting to see Loki reduced to a passenger in the final episode of his titular show. Atleast 'Loki' had the writing behind it not to abandon his character arc in the final episode unlike in 'Wandavision' (zero consequences) or 'FalconATWS' (rushed). Majors is incredible as the variant and the ending was an excellent reveal. Very excited for Season 2 and Majors to show up in future films!
Probably the best episode in a poorly paced and narratively disjointed series. The series completely fails to realize Walker's character arc in a genuine way, devotes wasted screen time to Julia Louis-Dreyfus and betrays Sharon Carter's loyalty to both Steve and Peggy, the FOUNDER OF S.H.I.E.L.D. while rushing Bucky's conclusion. Sam's suit however is amazing. Hope they hire new writers for 'Cap 4'.
What an absolutely botched ending to an otherwise strong show. Spoilers: Monica and Darcy are completely tossed aside, Evan Peters is entirely wasted as Quicksilver in favor of a dick joke, the writers show zero creativity in leaving characters to die and Wanda has ultimately learned nothing about her magic, ending the show exactly where she stood 8 years ago before 'Age of Ultron'. What a complete mess devoid of consequences, leaving characters storylines wide open for projects years away instead of tying character arcs up. Wanda apologises to the town members after tortuing them for weeks and we're supposed to feel bad when her fake children are erased? No, sorry, you're responsible for that. Monica really told Wanda the town should be grateful.... after she released them from their torture slavery. Wanda belongs on the Raft, Avengers need bodycams after this abuse. This is exactly what the Sokovia Accords were for. This isn't a show, it's a promotional ad to go see the next Marvel thing. I thought they were doing something special when the show began, embracing the wierd and unexplained magic in the MCU, but by the end the Marvel formula is intact and the story falls into laziness.
Who the hell was the missing person Jimmy Woo had in witness protection to begin with?
First 4 seasons, perfect narrative, dialogue and consequence. 10/10. Seasons 5 and 6, complete dip in all around quality with enough published foreshadowing and plot points from George to get by. 7/10. Seasons 7 and 8, dumpster fire with zero narrative consequences, no consistent character action nor any redeemable arc conclusions. The cinematography and production earns the entirety of the final seasons 4/10. Impossible to give this "complete" story anything above a 7. Completely betrays the characters and the audience.
The best show to begin on the CW, it's more than a guilty pleasure show, as witty as it is heartbreaking.
Perfection. Begins and ends incredibly on different sides of the same coin.
Literal ART. Ponderous, masterfully orchestrated and captivatingly polished. Mads Mikkelsen is extraordinary.
I'd argue it's one of the 5 best shows ever made. The humor and references are hysterical and the mythology never stops growing. Go Team Venture!
One of the best written comedies of the last 20 years. Feels so genuine and raw. It's hilarious, it's heartbreaking, Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan are fantastic.
Focused, charming and beautifully animated and written.
Ohhhhh you sons of bitches.
One of the great dramas of the decade. Direction, acting and slow churn writing are second to none.
The best character development, growth and writing in the MCU. It takes around 15 episodes to get there, but by the end of season 1 and building through season 2, the show reaches it's main story heights. Though it peaks in season 4, the quality never wavers again, bringing compelling character arcs and evolutions to the best streak of marvel stories in the universe written around lovably crafted characters.
Incredibly, intricately crafted first season. Emotionally riveting and grandiose second season, my personal favorite. Most recently, the innovative, visually stunning third season that narratively crumbles in the final episode.
Heartbreaking, brilliantly acted, directed, scored and written show about loss and living.
Nathan Fielder is a mastermind of comedy and understanding exactly how to make people tick. So ridiculous and hilarious.
Chilling historical drama, not sure I could ever watch it again but then again it's pretty seared into my mind.
One of the first shows I truly loved, funny, endearing and heartfelt comedy.
Unflinching depictions of racism, compelling and suspenseful writing and world building topped off with great acting and direction. Really one of the only shows on tv currently that is this unique and affecting. I really hope this gets renewed for season 2!
Expands on everything that made the film so special, creative and hilarious sequel of sorts.
Eternally relevant and endlessly funny.
The first 5 seasons are damn near perfect. The next 5, watchable. Season 11 returns to good storytelling but the final 4 betray just about everything that made this show great a full decade ago.
The music is INCREDIBLE. Enjoyed as many episodes (6) of season 2 as I disliked of season 1. The final half of season 2 is especially phenomenal, bridging other galaxy storylines together into a gorgeous crescendo.
