I loved both of the movies so far but the part two had something that was missing from the previous one, a climactic ending. I was pinned to my bed watching it and I mentally orgasmed when Paul used the voice to silence that old witch. The bass was so deep and unexpected that I shited myself hearing it through the headphones. I imagined how it must have felt in an IMAX theatre.
Don't cancel it, Netflix.
Please?!
It was so cheezy that I think I've developed lactose intolerance, but good for a laugh.
Right after I watched this movie I was feeling so saddened and moved that I rated it as a 9 but after two hours of reflecting on the subject I realised that it just was sad, nothing more. Yeah it was well-performed and thought after but that's it. Suicide, sexual orientation, bullying, puberty, grief, and guilt were the subjects this movie wanted to address but it failed to do so for almost all of them. Let me give you some examples: 1. Suicide happens more in queer community and it has multiple reasons. No one commits suicide just for one reason. It's always a combination of depression (or being prone to it) and other factors like family and society. For a teenager with a stable and loving family and some friends at school (which both are shown in the movie) being dumped by your best(or boy)friend is not enough reason to take your own life and I'm saying that as someone who has actually worked with patients with suicide history. 2. The main plot was that the protagonist was trying to distance himself and his best(or boy)friend because of harsh opinions of others and bullying at school. What I saw instead was two supporting families, two nosy girls at school who just asked about their relationship and a slap on the ass cheek by an asshole. I don't know about you guys but I won't consider that enough bullying to dump the person I truly love. You may say "Oh Archie, they're just kids! they don't know any better!" Well they have to. Because if teenagers start making major decisions like leaving someone or this world based on such stupid things, they're gonna be facing some problems pretty soon in their lives.
My attention span has been quite awful lately, but this movie, it made me freeze in front of the screen. It is twisted and odd, but stunning at the same time. The way it made me feel is hard to describe, but it made me feel things for sure. I'd recommend it.
My opinion?
Don't
Waste
Your
Time.
Playing with the timeline is a signature of Nolan, but this one so far, was my favourite type of it. A biography is boring in nature, unless it's told in a certain way. I admit it's confusing at first, but for that very confusion you'll be thinking about the movie afterwards.
This movie will not preach you. It won't fall into cliches. It is just a glimpse of a troubled life. It shows you the only practical way to make up for your absence is to be there and the only way not to be alone is to let others in.
Reading all the comments saying "Harry Styles should stick to singing." got me worried if this movie is worth my time; but now that I've watched it I must say his performance was of the better aspects of this movie as the plotline had much much bigger problems. Why was only Patrick sent to jail when the court knew Tom is gay as well? Why was the gap in the storyline so huge that jumped from Venice-going gay couples to stroke-having old men? Why the hell did Tom hate Patrick so much that he refused to see him even after having a stroke?! How did Marion find Patrick half-dead after all these years? These all just don't add up.
Wow, just wow. What a fantastic season finale. Looking forward to season 3.
I watched it with a friend and we both really liked it. I am not a fan of biography movies but this one with a steady and gradual move through the storyline and portraying an almost accurate picture of the French elite class before the revolution caught my eye. No wonder why the French Revolution was one of the bloodiest in history and I believe the same rebelliousness still runs through the veins of the French population.
There was hype about this movie that got me to watch it and where there's hype, there are expectations and to be honest, it didn't meet them. It had funny punchlines, but as a whole I didn't find it funny. You may enjoy watching it, so I'm not going to try to convince you not to watch it, but if it was recommended to me by a friend, I'd be disappointed in their taste of movies.
As an uncultured gay, it pains me to admit that I have not read the novel and I have nothing to compare this adaptation to, but my own expectations and this movie totally meets them. The chemistry between the two leads, the back and forth banter, the well-portrayed and sensual sex scenes; it is a 10 out of 10 recommendation.
I'm okay with half of the characters being queer. I'm thrilled that biracial stories are on their way to become actual multicultural media productions.
But...
Do you guys feel the acting is really unnatural too? Or is it just me?
Ronald Gladden has a heart of gold and a beautiful soul. It is rare to see a genuinely nice and caring young man these days.
C'mon guys. It's a fantasy/(barely) horror young-adult TV show, not a Martin Scorsese movie. What's with all the negative vibes? Watch it as it was meant to be watched; just chill out and have a few moments of fun.
It was FANTASTIC. The script, the performance, the storyline, EVERYTHING. It touched my heart. A movie quite different that one might usually find in a theatre.
I started watching this show, with no knowledge of the books it's based on, pretty late in the evening and I just couldn't stop. I could never imagine myself saying that, because of how much I value inclusivity and woke movement, but it does really feel good to watch a Netflix TV show, with more storyline and less propaganda. There were also some references to Iranian foods and ancient goddesses which felt delightful for me as an Iranian. But I wouldn't consider "Karim" as a common Persian surname. In fact I've never met an Iranian with this surname. It's more used in Arab countries. Enjoy this show and find yourself some Ghormeh Sabzi to eat, if you haven't tried it yet. It's divine.
I'd be thanking God everyday if I had a mom who supported me throughout my whole life like what Georgia did. Ginny's being such a bitch.
My favourite character in both of the movies is that one cat who puts his hand on his mouth and says: "ooohhh". (✷‿✷)
I was genuinely surprised when the reporter started speaking Persian. ʘ‿ʘ
I don't know why, with such wonderful performances of actors and beautiful scenes and landscapes, it was a constant struggle for me to stay awake.
A movie about a shared curse, teenage love, and the coming-of-age crisis.
Two young people, drawn to each other by something more than their bloody secret.
A metaphor for common pains and pasts that lead people to another.
It was slow but interesting. 9/10
At least they didn't ask for a tip. :joy:
I usually don't like musicals. Especially, when grown-ass actors suddenly burst into dancing and singing! But I must admit it is an incredible job to make a two-hour movie of perfectly synced and disciplined child actors. I even admire those children more than Emma Thompson with her wonderful display of a devilish headmistress. And sadly there's some disturbing truth in this movie. The current educational methods alongside unfit parents are the main reason for children's creativity to die from the very early childhood and adolescence.
I know it's trendy to praise the originals and shit all over American remakes or adaptations, but I really enjoyed the US version more.
The only thing that made the UK version funny was the British accent.
It's a mini-series with much less effort and budget put to it than "The Witcher".
It was as good as I expected, not perfect and not entirely awful. Personally, I watch Movies & TV shows to spend some time relaxing. I'm not too picky or criticising. So I enjoyed it.
And also, I know Netflix is being too woke, but accept it guys, you are being too defensive too.
Oh my god that was fantastic. Definitely recommend.
It started boring, then became amazing and towards the end, each episode began to feel more like a filler episode.
