Black Bird

It wasnt bad. The music and score by Mogwai was on point, the acting by Paul Walter Houser was truly excellent, the story bones were intriguing but the overall execution was nothing special and at times both heavy handed and anticlimactic. Taron Egerton’s character was not nuanced enough imo. I’m not sure if that’s a miss on the writing, directing or acting - or a bit of each. Not terrible, but it took me out of the story a few times along with a couple other odd writing choices.

I understand why people are comparing this to True Detective S1, but for me it doesnt go far enough to be considered in the same tier. That said, it’s definitely not bad and is worth a watch if you are looking for a 6spot serial killer miniseries. I really appreciate the limited/miniseries approach and love to see more productions using that format.

The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die

Not at all like the show. Disjointed, unorganized, impossible to suspend belief for odd character choices. It was nice to see some familiar faces on screen again but it was a slog to get through. Skip this and rewatch a few of your old favorite scenes.
