Being a Colombian I can tell you that it was set in a perfect way.
The colors, the cultural diversity, the music that represents us, the typical foods, the personalities, everything. You could even say that the background on the violence is very well done. In Colombia we have a big problem that is forced internal displacement, so much so that we are the number one country in this. The fact that they gave a few little moments about this conflict ... brought me to tears, but I really appreciate it.
It is the perfect tribute to my beautiful land. I loved it.
In addition, I feel that it is very easy to connect with the characters and give each one a little development, considering that there are so many.
I have a little criticism for the movie though. I feel like a little more explanation was needed as to why Mirabel could not receive the miracle when she was a child and the specific reason why Casita was cracking. Maybe they could make it a bit longer to explain this, but overall I liked it.
Pd: Lin Manuel Miranda never disappoints, I'm his fan 4eveeeeer
Okey, i'm gonna be honest and say that I really didn't have like a lot of expectation with this because when I saw the trailer I just tougth that it's just a TV show of a bunch of depressing teenagers with first world problems (like mostly of the shows that Netflix loves to create)... and, I mean, there is no a biiiiiiiiig difference beetwen that and the whole situation of the serie, but now that I watched it all I have some things to say. Please take a sit.
1. I have to let it clear that this is an ADAPTATION, and the funny thing of everything is that the creators can actually take all the bases, all the main trama, a lot of the original characters and create something new to the grown children that saw the animated show. I think that i'm actually satisfaed with it... I could enjoy all the main story with Bloom, her past, the discoverment of her powers, etc... when I was a little girl and now being a young adult.
2. NOT AND INFANTILE SHOW. Don't let kids watch it with you, please conserve the innocence of Alfea with them.
3. Maybe it's too "mainstream" or "millennial" for some people a lot of thing that were on the show (like the existence of Instagram or smartphones and texting messages in case of danger, in every single person in the fairy magic world... even teachers) but I think that this just make that the story would be light, funny and accurate to our times. I feel it REAL.
4. Story is DEEP. And that's why I feel it real! 'Cause we all know the main characters of the original version, yes, but not in the sense of talking and treating a LOT of topics that put this show in a range of +16 public (violence, revenge, sex, alcohol and drugs, etc, etc). All the whole situation of Bloom and her powers and family... it was deep sis...
5. FINAL CHAPTER GOT ME SHOCK, no more comments.
6. I think the show deserves a chance, just like Shadowhunters did (wich actually I find both REALLY similar... weird), it's just the first season and I think that it was a very well-doing beginning, I honestly want to see more...
A wonderful work, which is enjoyed and cried from the heart.
I confess that at first I felt that they were dealing with five different subplots that could easily have been two or three separate films, and that worried me because I felt that they were going to give it a rushed and forced ending. But it was not like that. I feel like every little situation they showed tied together to create the perfect ending. With Suzu, her family and her friends.
The scene with the children and their father, GOD, I think I gasped for a moment, how strong! I really liked it.
The quality, the eloquence, the iconicity, the handling and development of the characters, the crescendo of the chapters, EVERYTHING, makes this a true gem of Marvel. TOO MUCH POWER.
What's next... will be E P I C.
Neither good nor bad. To pass the time. Cliché romantic comedy with very funny moments and others very passable.
An interactive romantic comedy to pass the time, it is fun to do it in the company of friends and argue about each one's choices. Not the best movie on Netflix but it can be fun
LUKA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, YOU'RE THE REASON WHY I KEEP WATCHING THESE PEOPLE MAKE BAD CHOICES CHAPTER AFTER CHAPTER :cupid:
In fact, I didn't expect that much, I liked it a lot, I cried a couple of times because it is very beautiful. I liked the cast, I really connected with Gus. It's easy to see, good to watch in family, I like it.
I don't have any words, but... absolutely amazing.
What a touching story. It deserve to be seen and heard.
Excellent work by the actors, especially Jharrel, chapter four brought me to tears.
Thanks to Ava for bring us such an incredible production, I really enjoyed it.
My best wishes to The Exonerated 5, WE SEE YOU.
I'm just gonna say: Beautiful work. It feels heartbreaking, funny and completely REAL.
Incredible work from the cast. I could feel the same emotions that the characters had, that because Justice Smith and Elle Fanning had it clear, they wanted to made it seen real and that is what they did.
It's a very sad story (not gonna lie, I cried, a LOT), addresses sensitive and strong issues about death, depression, suicide, and certain mental disorders. However, it also tells us about how overcoming and knowing ourselves and finding ourselves.
So, if you are a very sensitive person, I don't recommend it. I warn you.
Not the best movie that I seen in this year but personaly, I enjoyed it crying and laughing a little bit.
I didn't understand the intention of the movie. It's very slow and there's no climax in any moment. However, i think that maybe it could work well as a thriller (if they had developed the plot in depth), but not horror, as Netflix categorized it.
I understand the tension that they wanted to create, but it's not enough, because there's no single problem solved, any of them.
5/10 only for Armie Hammer's work. Nothing else.
Everything in this movie is wrong. The acting is terrible, the script has nothing to do with a supposed thriller or revenge movie. The audiovisual resources are too poor for a film with that proposal. I've seen movies based on the same idea and at the very least the performances are consistent and believable. The music in this movie is too out of place... In conclusion, I felt it like a parody... and one of the worst. Isn't even funny. Don't waste your time.
Too good to have missed it for so long. I would have loved to watch the episodes week after week to maintain the suspense, but I consumed it in less than a month. Each chapter is better than the last, its characters are memorable and YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. The script is impeccable and the effects are amazing. Heisenberg is easily one of the most cunning characters in film and TV history. Simply... a work of art.
More than terrifying, it's a very bloody film. So if you're a fan of gore, maybe you can enjoy it.
Oh my... what a great episode, specially the ending. I don't know what is about to happen but i'm hyped
The perfect excuse to show Godzilla and Kong smashing their butts. Don't get me wrong, that was exactly what we wanted to see and what was delivered to us.
The visuals were fascinating, I usually complain a lot about how obvious the CGI is noticeable, but this time it seemed very well done.
Obviously, the plot was not a big deal, it was very irrelevant, but as I read there, who was looking for a super exciting plot of human characters? nobody, hahaha. And they did not show how the beginnings of the monsters neither because that is what the previous films are for. Seriously, what were you expecting more than a giant lizard and an angry monkey fighting? LOL
Weird but fun to watch in an afternoon Sunday. Doesn't have to much plot but still enjoyable. The art style is stunning, one of the best things of the show. Also, don't try to find an answer for all the crazy situations and characters that are there... just chill with it.
Mary, by the way, best character, love her.
Ok, it's pretty bad actually. No surprise, that's the curse of Disney sequels.
I think that the true charm of the first film is seeing the reality and how Giselle behaved in the daily life in New York. The gray tones, the people going from one place to another, the big city, Robert as a lawyer. I don't know, they were just things that fit together and made you feel that even though it was a Disney movie, it's... different. Like, more realistic.
In this case, this movie it's just the same. A basic concept. They bring the idea of aim for Disney classics and make references to princess movies, like the first one. But seeing Robert acting stupid (trying to be a prince or a knight, I suppose), just doesn't make sense to me.
I think the only good thing about this movie is seeing Amy Adams act as an evil stepmother. I loved her acting and versatility.
The musical moments were very meh, EXCEPT the one that Malvina and Gisselle sing, that one was pretty good, I liked it. AND the Nancy's song. Idina Menzel's voice is a magical journey that I will never get tired of.
In the end it is a movie to pass the time, it is not memorable, it could not exist and it would have the same effect. I watched it because I had just seen the first one and wanted to know what was happening with the characters, but the truth is, it was just "meh".
You know what?, the premise of the movie was actually good. However, the surreal plot was already too fanciful. It killed all the development the movie created in just the last ten minutes. I liked the mystery at the beginning but halfway through the movie it became too long for me and I just wanted it to end to find out who the murderer was, although in the end the plot turned out to be too predictable and even boring.
Some good visual resources, for the rest... what a great waste of time, what a terrible movie
For me, the best episode so far. Not only the narrative but also the performance of the protagonist. When at one point he looks so desperate and frustrated with no memory...it gave me chills.
Very good episode.
I cried with my Adrienette scene, so pretty
As someone who has watched the animated series for over seven years, I can say that I liked it. Obviously, the animation was absolutely flawless, I marveled a bunch of times when I saw the driving lights, colors and the entire visual field. I feel the story behind it as if it were a fanfic where they summarize the 5 seasons of the series and show us the most essential, perhaps also giving pleasure to the people who for years waited for the great reveal of their identities. I didn't dislike that, I managed to enjoy it. Obviously there are different things but I suppose they did it to shorten the story and that this one made sense. It definitely does not replace the series, they are different experiences but equally enjoyable. God, that final scene between them, their chemistry, the music... I fell deeply in love
One Piece has taught me so many things, it has taken me a lot of time and energy to catch up, but it has been totally worth it. I am very happy to be in time to see the last arcs of the best anime in the world, in live.
I did enjoy it because there was enough suspense to keep me attentive.
First of all, we can't ask for much from a horror movie, BUT... I really liked this saga, I felt that its premise was more innovative than just a haunted house.
In that sense, for the end of the saga, this movie disappointed me a bit. It has some good scares but I expected a lot more. You know what would be very epic? Let all the demons face off against all the good guys from the previous movies and it would be a super epic battle. Not just paint the door black and that's it . What a sad ending.
I didn't see the first one, but I liked this. Even though the characters made a lot of avoidable mistakes that frustrated me, the suspense was good.
I totally wasted my time. I even advanced it to see if it would get interesting but no.
It's like watching short stories or fanfics that someone came up with, right at its most hype. Contrary to some comments, I do like the short format of each episode, I feel that it is concise, coherent and that it does not make you need more. It gives me the feeling that it is as if the protagonist were telling you an anecdote that happened to them one day and that's it.
Also, the fact that each chapter has its own style of animation and storytelling is very cool. I like it.
