The ending (which is pretty controversial) is exactly what makes this show a masterpiece. Without it you're left with a hollow nihilist work done to push anger and pain out in the world. It's the ending which makes it all work, which let's you know why art is fucking beautiful and why right now you're allowed to be ecstatic and not worry. Just go out there and living your little Anime Life.
Somewhere along the season I remembered something, it's something i first believed when the original trailer released, this show isn't it. This Robin isn't Robin, this Raven isn't Raven and The Titans aren't Titans. It shouldn't be R rated, or have sex scenes and excessive violence. It's a story of a bunch of kids trying to find their own identity. What the actual fuck happened?
I'm pretty weird and considering I'm Gen Z, this show should be perfectly my kind of humour but it just doesn't work. I'M LITERALLY THE DUDE WHO LAUGHS AT BIG CHINGUS and maybe that says more about me than the show but it needs a bit more than just random weirdness because that just gets boring. I need some kind of meat to latch onto a story, which just isn't present here. Maybe the issue is that it isn't weird enough it's just stupid and contrived. It looks like that the writers want you to believe that they're geniuses because of the bs they have carved up but it's just not enough. Idk how but try being weirder next time, you may get my approval.
Nothing much present here is interesting. This is what R&M would be if it's animation, themes, characters and writing was worse. Nothing is funny nor does it explore the extreme ideas R&M does. I don't want to compare these shows but if you watch it both are trying to do the same thing this is just worse tho. I'm not invested in any other story except The Wall and even then its filled with clichés. And the animation is really dull even tho it copies R&M which looks good enough.
This was exactly my fear of where the story would go after Dracula's death. (who was easily the best character) the existence of a point has stopped and most of the season Hector is just jailed and Isaac is just roaming around, lmao. The writers needed to realise that the plot can move forward in other episdes than the last 2. And even then the 2 plots out of a total 3 are just 2 different characters having sex with someone. This turned into Garbage TV way too fast :(
There's just too much about this show that's just perfect in every single way, so I'll just focus on its emotional impact on me. First of all, this shows is exactly the kind of thing that i wished existed. Its cathartic as shit because the energy vibrating off of this is mine. These characters are my friends. And i don't mean that the story is EXACTLY based on real life but rather it parodies it. Euphoria came at the perfect time in my life because I've been missing my school and how fucked up life was then. I'm still not sure how people get out of high school and just be functional adults (they don't). I can't help but be smitten by the show simply because of how precisely close it is to the feeling of being a 17 year old because even if none of my friends have committed breaking and entering and blinded a guy and forced him to agree to confessing to assault but life sure fucking felt like we did and that's why this show is gold. It tries to capture the feeling and not the actions (even though some are scarely close to reality) of teenagers. I love love love everything that this show is. If Euphoria was a human being i would hug it tightly, it saved me from a pit i didn't know i was in.
While there are some good moments in the first season, overall the writing and the expositions make it very clear that the show is made for kids and not for both kids and adults. And that's completely fine but it isn't exactly the type of cartoons which are for me. I was hoping more of an Adventure Time level maturity but it's just not there. Still cool of them to discuss divorce in a kid's show (like Mr. Rogers didn't do it already)
That "I do" was hands down the best scene of the show.
What the fuck have i gotten myself into lmao.
I love the reality checks in this show. Knowing its a kid's cartoon you'd think there'd be some level of sugarcoating but there is NONE yet it remains somehow optimistic. That's how you do art. I love this show.
I love this episode, all the jokes hit and i just love the trans message. One of my favourite episodes ever.
My God, the existentialism was so on point for this show.
My gut instinct from season one was correct, this is an incredibly funny and interesting show. But it's a tad bit more hyped up than it should've been. I would still recommend it, but it's nothing earth shattering. Nice way to burn through 5 hours though.
If the flash from earth 90 gets off the treadmill then all the earths get destroyed at once, then what's the point of putting him on the treadmill? To make sure that antimonitor can stop himself?
Ok so the first season is good.really good but it's not exactly the best show of recent times. I still don't see how this is better than Barry but I'll continue through the next season to find out.
