One could argue that the end is really the beginning of the story, which is left to the watcher to wonder so I understand why some people will dislike it, all in all I liked the atmosphere, style and soundtrack, but the movie does kinda end up feeling like it was more of a presentation of the world and building of it on the midst of the hero's journey of Vesper. It was slow but I really enjoyed and the curiosity about the society in this reality really kept me interested. I don't have hopes but I'd love to see it being explored in a tv show format, perhaps, picking up where the movie left. And no doubt that if you are a Nausicaä fan like myself you'll at least enjoy the aesthetic inspiration of this world.

A really promising tv show with a good dystopian plot, it's gonna be tough to watch the probably more graphic scenes to come but I'm already in love with the handmaid's tale

edit: if you, like me, haven't read the book before watching the show, you absolutely should read it.

The Northman

If you're expecting two hours of battle action you will be very disappointed, but honestly if you've seen any other Robert Eggers movie by now you should have known better than to expect this. But, of course this may be the first movie you'll be watching from Eggers, so in any case be prepared for a slow ride. For me, one of the best aspects of the movie was how well Eggers handed the "magic" aspect, it almost becomes pure fantasy at times, to immerse the watcher in the beliefs of the norse myhology the people had at that time, but you could also think of them as products of an active unconsciuos fuled by psychotics sometimes, or by the simple belief in that mithology. The script being not only about revenge was a bonus for me.

Attack on Titan: Special 37 The Final Chapters Special (2)

So, here finally comes the end of an era, at least on the anime, on the manga it has already been two years. As someone who was not particularly hyped for this part, because I knew what would happen; I still gotta say... It felt nostalgic and emotionally charged. I could only think about how good it felt to see things I longed seeing animated for some time, specifically scenes with Pieck, Annie and Mikasa. I still have a lot of critics about the end (and no I'm not talking about ships with Eren... but plot-wise). But the overall feeling is that I think it was worth it following this universe, it leaves a lot of room to theorize about "Titanology" and it was such a fun thing to do; I also met some amazing people along the way because of the shared interest in AOT. And another good thing animes could follow the example is having a diverse cast of female characters, that's one thing I'll always be grateful for AOT.

I may have gone too far on my interpretation, but this episode reminded me of the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School. Where they argue that our excess of reason (that for example leaded to the WW2) trapped us in the mass industry (and opinion) society we are in, and that art would be the escape from this society. And in here happened the contrary, of course that in the end enters in the debated "what is art?" Would it be or not? But the fact is that the man who forced the minister to practice an act of zoophile claimed it was art. And we can not denied that technology is a way of creating art, and it let me thinking: what the hell will be of the art and of our future?

The plot twist at the finale with Te Ka actually being Te Fiti without her heart was so good! (I really didn't see that coming.) And the simbolism was so beautiful: the one who brought life became death itself after her heart was stolen, and at the finale Moana helped her become herself (life) again (like everything in life nothing is created, everything is transformed). Also, in a way, there was not really a villainess, it was just occurrences of bad circumstances that actually in the bottom had a good intention: Muai tried to stole Te Fiti's heart to give it to humans, so they would have the power to create life but we all saw what happened; and despite all the magic, it made the movie more real (imo). But of course the more important thing is: the children will love it! And it's good that the new generation will grow up with the message that, yes, girls can save the day too, and you do not have to be romantically involved with a man to be someone.

Shining Girls: 1x08 30

We are only in the middle of the year but this already is one of the best series releases of the year, really refreshing to see a criminal mystery with sci-fi being well done. About the end specifically I don't know how to feel about one thing which is Harper surviving, but I know it's more of a personal opinion than anything, and I don't really know how much more it would mess with the timelines if he actually died by being killed by Kirby since they were bound in a quantum entanglement , but it was definately a satisfaying ending.

Actually there is another thing that left me thinking, and that I'd like to know more, and of course it's the house , but I liked too how detailed we got too and it's okay not getting that much of explanation, which sometimes it ends up just bringing more and mmore questions and the point of the story ends up being lost.

Ranking of Kings: 1x23 The King and the Sun

Queen Hilling was one of the few characters whom by the end didn't have her development and characterization butchered, the disappointment with that Miranjo x Daida plot kinda ruined the anime for me in terms of script, but it was worth it for Hiling, Bojji and Kage.

The Sandman: 1x04 A Hope in Hell

Some minor changes from the comic in this one too but so far so good, like Lucifer themselves fighting Morpheus was a good away to give more screentime to Gwendoline. And of course there's John Dee not killing Rosemary, when John killed her it had an impact on me, but I kinda like the fact that this Rosemary didn't die, she was a bit more likeable than the original one plus it kinda fits well with Dream's decision about John Dee later too.

Ranking of Kings: 1x22 A Promise to the Demon

this "redemption" arc of Miranjo ruined the anime for me, apart from the fact that suffering doesn't give a character the right to do awful things to others, Miranjo's "marriage" with Daida it's pure radiation, literally she has known Daida ever since he was born and in fact he was born because of her, who brought Bosse and Hiling together... Bosse's end was also disappointing after all the suffering he caused his sons.

Something totally not related to the anime now but I got say something, it's the fact that now trakt has even banned to comment in another language? before it was recommended to comment in english, but now you really can't send a comment if it's not english? gringos and their xenophobia
