Omicron Persei 8

Architecture Exploration House

There are more episodes than listed there and it is available on Netflix Korea. I think lots of episodes are also available on YouTube (on the EBS channel). This TV program is one I always watch with great pleasure. Its simplicity makes for a perfect relaxing moment where you get to see people's houses. There is a serene vibe to it. And with one episode per week of only 45 minutes, it is quite nice and not too long, nor too frequent.

Not a bad show per se, but not the best either. Since it's quite short, you don't have the time to really get bored, but the whole thing isn't that believable and just feels like a patchwork of different shows.

Korean Cold Noodle Rhapsody

Since I enjoyed Korean Pork Belly Rhapsody, I was probably expecting a little bit more from Korean Cold Noodle Rhapsody. It still made me hungry, but I think it only needed one episode.

The Raincoat Killer: Chasing a Predator in Korea

The story itself is very interesting and seeing how police worked in South Korea back then too, but the documentary is poorly made. Structured as it is, it would have been better as a one-part documentary.

Korean Pork Belly Rhapsody

Don't watch this on an empty stomach, you'll end up feeling very hungry! It was a pleasant watch.

Mister Trot of Tomorrow

I love trot... But this was quite an underwhelming show. I watched the second season as it aired, but I probably wouldn't have watched it once everything was aired.

A Very Secret Service

Fun and entertaining show with great humour and a little touch of self-criticism (of France).

Don't Do This, Don't Do That

I watch this show while it was airing and it was always a pleasure to wait for the next episode on TV. It is a very pleasant show that is quite true to the life of those types of families in France. Quite funny as well. And the dialogues are really realistic, I could definitely picture people I know in real life talking like the characters did.

Silenced

Probably one of the best movies I watched, but I will never watch it again. I had to take breaks while watching it because it was just so hard to stomach everything. It took me multiple days to process it after. The actors are all impressive and even though it's hard to watch, I consider it to be a must-watch for everyone.

A Moment to Remember

A touching movie with just the right amount of bittersweetness. Both the actors delivered a great performance, the script was good.... Very emotional.

House of Cards

This show is a masterpiece. I saw it first when I was too young to understand everything (around 8 yo, and I watched it in English without subtitles when I wasn't yet fluent in English) and rewatched it multiple times since then, but even the first time, it drew me in. Ian Richardson performance was perfect.

Teenage Parents

One thing I found interesting when watching this show was that it gave me a better understanding of how motherhood is seen in Korea and some advice and comments annoyed me quite a lot. But some stories were interesting and cute and as a "show to watch while cooking or eating" it was nice. Not worth more than 5, but still entertaining if you like this type of content I guess...

Black Spot

I honestly don't understand the relatively high rating of this series... The idea isn't bad, the cinematography either, even the actors did a good job, but the script is really poor. I watched it in French (my native language) and the dialogue sounded so odd that it was hard to watch... No idea if it's better translated, but watching the actors do what they could with dialogues that sounded so dry and unnatural was pretty painful.

Welcome to Wedding Hell

If you are learning Korean and want a very easy drama, not too long, or you are already okay at Korean and just want something that you can watch while cooking or cleaning or whatever, it will work for you. If you want a drama to actually enjoy what you watch, then be on your way... This drama is boring as hell.

Abyss

I liked the first few episodes (even though I wouldn't say I liked the whole ugly to handsome and pretty to the ugly plot - especially when it's not true at all for her, Park Bo-young is nothing but pretty)... But it got boring really fast and even the good casting and the decent idea couldn't make up for the poor screenwriting. I kept watching until the end mostly because it was so easy to understand that I had no issue following everything while cooking and cleaning.

Alexandre Astier - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring

A witty show that mixes humour, education and drama in a well-balanced way. The writing is witty. A great experienced and even after three watches, I am still enjoying it as much as the first time.

Single's Inferno

I had no idea I could enjoy watching dating reality TV before I watched this show and now I am starting to watch other Korean dating TV reality. It was really entertaining.

Arts Master: The War of Hip-Hop Singers

If you like traditional Korean music (pansori, etc.) and love traditional-fusion music in general, you will probably enjoy this survival show! I got to know some great musicians and bands through this show and some of the songs became staples of my daily playlist.

Seinfeld

After hearing references to this series for years (since I started watching other American shows in my teens), I finally took the time to watch it last year... And I wasn't disappointed! Such an amazing show! Funny as hell and quite witty too. I am not a huge sitcom fan (actually, apart from The Nanny I liked for some reason, I never could get into any sitcom) and this is the best I've seen so far!

3-Iron

Great movie with a poetry-like atmosphere. The story is so simple and the dialogue quite sparse, yet it results in a sort of meditative experience. This movie is subtle. The acting, the camera work, the music, everything is nuanced and well balanced.

The Prime Minister and I

Prime Minister & I is the story of a young journalist and the Prime minister of Korea that ends up having to get married to avoid a scandal. It is honestly such a stupid drama. It has everything you would expect of a low-budget drama (no idea if it was actually low-budget). From the cliched storyline to the weird direction choices, through the cheap soundtrack and cheesy acting. Yet, I kinda enjoyed it. I don’t know if it was meant to be a parody, but it didn’t seem like anyone was taking what they were doing seriously (if they did, well... woof), which made me laugh and made it a good drama to watch while cooking, cleaning or whatever. Would only recommend it if you either want to watch something stupid ironically or if you are into cheesy and goofy dramas.

Misty

Misty is a mystery drama about an anchorwoman who becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation and her husband, although their relationship isn’t great at the moment, becomes her legal counsel. There were moments that were a little bit too long in my opinion, but overall it was an entertaining mystery that I enjoyed quite a lot. The soundtrack, acting and photography are all really good. I even listen to the soundtrack sometimes. Would recommend!

My Mister

One of my favourite dramas! It is more or less the story of two simple people, lost in their lives, society, their issues, who find each other. The characters are interesting and the story is believable and touching. I really like Lee Sun-kyun and IU, and their acting here didn’t disappoint. I definitely see myself watching it again in the future and I recommend it for sure. Whether you are learning Korean or not doesn’t matter, it’s just a great drama.

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim

I finally finished What's Wrong with Secretary Kim and I must say, it was entertaining, even though I would not watch it again.

:heavy_plus_sign: Positive: The acting is honestly quite good in general. The actors are obviously all very pretty. The overall aesthetic is pleasant. There are funny moments. I liked some of the secondary characters. It's cute.

:heavy_minus_sign: Negative: The storyline is very predictable. The drama uses a lot of K-drama clichés. The series starts to get boring around episode 10 and could have definitely been shorter. The characters are very surface level and there is no character development whatsoever.

All that being said, I still didn't feel I needed to force myself to finish it, so it wasn't that bad. I also think it's a great drama for language learning, as most of the vocabulary is daily life vocabulary. So if you watch it and enjoy it, I am sure it'll be a great drama to rewatch from time to time and evaluate your progress that way! (if you are learning Korean)

Holiday Secrets

I must say that I am a bit disappointed with this miniseries. On paper, it had everything that I like in a series, but it ended up being an easily forgettable series that I probably won’t even remember in a few months. The actors are good and the scenery is beautiful. However, the plot isn’t always completely believable and is lacking a bit. It was still enjoyable, but I think one of the issues of this series is that it keeps explaining everything way too much, and at the same time since it’s such a short series, some storylines are left unexplored.
