I agree with everyone Taylor was such a perfect inclusion to this cast, and the way we’ve seen her evolve and it’s actually a match for Ryan in both senses, like she doesn’t take his bs
I’m not ready for the show to end!
Max Greenfield as a young Sandy makes a lot of sense!!!
I feel so bad for Kaitlin, she deserves a father figure
And come on Julie and Frank??
So curious about Moldaver!
I watched the first episode on saturday night and 5 episodes on sunday and so far i have no notes, but i had to stopped cause i’m a little worried about how are they gonna wrap everything up in the last two episodes? Like this whole Lucy gets captured by the insane cult of vault 4 seems unnecessary to me, I’d rather this episode to end with lucy and maximus escaping.
Cause they still gotta find Bo (Superstore reference) with the head and the dog
For Lucy to find out Max is a fraud and the other knights wont help them
Get to Moldaver
Find out what’s the deal with the head
Exchange the head for the dad
Probably discover the dad is a nasty man
And that’s just them, we still have to know the deal with vault 31-32-33
The ghoul’s backstory and what happened to his kid
And more!!!
I do believe it was maximus the one who hurt the person chosen to be the squire before him, and he’s so clueless about everything, no wonder he wasn’t chosen, he didn’t even know the suit needed a water thingy
I was so pissed they offed the puppy, I had to pause the show :( when the puppy was the only reason Wilzing chose to escape.
And then I was happy the puppy was okay, but like Wilzig never got to know that, and I 100% believe he chose to die cause he thought his puppy was dead :(
Oh Puri! She should’ve gone to the singing competition.
This episode was good, at first the length kinda shocks you but at the end it doesn’t feel like it.
My issue is that maybe instead of doing a separate episode focusing on all these layers, complexities and characters, why not to that with the whole show, like in every episode? I think that could’ve taken the show to the next level.
Mercy and that guy are very sick individuals, like I get they are trying to cope with their trauma, cause it’s valid, but like that?
I was like wooow ryan finally grew up!! Or the writers finally stopped being messy and he went back to Taylor to apologize and be clear about wanting to be with her but NOPE.
Bold choice offing the most recognizable character! I assume they want to have a second season, they would need a strong lead like JP!
As someone who hasn’t read the books nor knew anything about this story, I consider this to be a solid show.
However I think it lacks depth and an emotional anchor. Who’s the main character? Eiza? Benedict? Jin? Like I get that the show revolves around a friend group but someone’s perspective has to stand out. I personally would’ve liked for Benedict to be the center of the show, but I get that would’ve made it more of a detective show, so I wanted more out of Eiza and Jin.
Also I feel like the show was missing something visually, if you were to choose 4 screenshots to represent the vibe of the show which ones would be? I think when Vera jumps inside that golden room, when her mom and tatiana are watching the sunset in china, when saul and that other guy are in the beach house and that’s it?
There was way more to exploit out of this show, more character develop needed, more world building.
Imagine if this was an HBO show! I can think of the Leftovers, that most of it was set in the suburbs, it didn’t need crazy settings or crazy effects but you could feel the show.
I’ve read some comments about how adapting the book can be challenging, but I feel like this was extremely digested for us, and everything was solved within the same episode, by episode 4-5 there wasn’t any mystery left.
All this aside, it’s an interesting and solid watch, hopefully we don’t have to wait 2+ years for a second season.
Very soulless and pointless
I don’t see the mom as the big villain, I would be more pissed about her abandoning me than about her being an Eat the rich crusader, but other than manipulating the girlie to kill the detective’s partner I don’t see the damage.
I could see the potential of the friend group solving crimes but that’s a different premise and that leaves no room for the old man, btw what happened to him?
I love taylor!!!
“So i’m a fat divorcee whore????”
If the setting was a super yatch instead of a mega cruise ship the show would make much more sense!
Like on the boarding day we saw hundreds of people and in the dining room there were many crowded tables like…
Did they use a green screen for some scenes in the bowling alley??
I usually don’t love the holiday episodes cause there’s too much drama so this was a nice change!
And I like that we got some Marissa closure, I do think Ryan improved everyone’s lives as much as de Cohen improved his
And I do like Ryan and Taylor! Usually he was paired with tougher girls or the opposite of the Harbor girls, but I like that Taylor is unapologetically her and she is also tough while being sensitive.
I got a little lost in the end with the printer and Sydney throwing up, did she realize the printer ran out of paper and that’s why the orders stopped? And she freaked out and went to the alley to throw up? I was also scared she was gonna go do crack with that other guy because of the stress
But also I don’t think it ran out of paper cause it seemed like they finishes the courses and everyone went home happy, that’s why Sydney’s dad was out there and why Molly Gordon went to the kitchen so I guess opening night was a success!
Why is Auggie so self righteous? Like yes what they are doing isn’t pretty but it’s to defend our planet against an alien invasion - and the aliens have made it clear that they see us as bugs, and I want to state I’m :pound_symbol:TeamAlien but I also agree we gotta step up our defense plan, and also they are planning just to send a probe, nothing sinister like what they already did in Panama
And it’s obvious Jin was more than okay with Will being the volunteer but she only acted like she wasn’t okay cause she felt she had to act like that to actually look like a friend, but imo she only saw Will as a lab partner, soon to be lab experiment
His arch was very sad but also very human, i would say the most human like character in this show, cause the main characters (auggie, jin, wade, sometimes the detective) act like they know they are acting
I wanted to see more of Dr Yen, we missed like 30 years of her story, and we had a 10 year gap between what we were shown, she would’ve also been a good candidate to be sent to space, that would’ve been a full circle moment, but I like her more grounded ending
I’m not satisfied with the answer about Vera’s passing, so she jumped because she read some messages between Evans and her mom???
And yes of course Eiza is gonna be puking during a guilt and depression episode in sexy black lingerie
And isn’t Saul supposed to be a very smart scientist too? I get that he is choosing to take care of their friend, but I hate that now he’s in the background being the guy that smokes weed and that’s it
I thought the point of using the nano strings was to caused as minimum destruction as possible, because the point of the mission was to retrieve information, and they didn’t know what it was, like a black box, records, journals, a hard drive… or where it was, and at first I was like yes this makes sense but then the whole ship collapsed and it stopped making sense.
And isn’t it hilarious that the aliens turned on us because of freaking little red riding hood??
If that wasn’t the messiest police raid I’ve seen… like, why would you separate her in front of everyone??? you are branding her as the snitch! And then I don’t see the point in that raid cause that was a scientist summit, I don’t think those were the real followers or like the operatives, those are in the ship, so they just murdered and arrested a bunch of scientists whose biggest crime was being part of a cult
And also was it realistic for Jin to be there after that lady murdered her friend?
Dr Ye being there was actually surprising, it was obvious she was involved but maybe Evans relegated her to the sidelines but I’m glad she’s running the show, tho that means her daughter’s suicide was almost like a sacrifice, and she showed Jin the helmet on purpose
And 400 YEARS AWAY??? Then I don’t see the point, that’s not our problem
Also I’m pretty sure at some point dr yen says they are 4 light years away… isn’t that 4 years?
And I like the idea that the aliens are choosing which scientists they partner with and which scientists they are gonna threaten to stop their work cause probably that work would be a threat for them
I wish we had more context of the detective’s deal, like usually in every detective show we see that it’s hard for different departments to cooperate between each other, and so far there’s been over 30 deaths in different countries and everything goes so smoothly regarding the cooperation and the sharing of information?
Like the detective can so easily hack into the friend group devices? I understand he’s being sponsored and protected by that other guy but how did all this started? The first death, the one that make them suspicious about something greater going on, how did the older guy recruited the detective? How did they choose to focus on the “london five”?
I guess I’m seeing this more like a mystery/detective show instead of an alien show but still even for a scifi show your detective game gotta be solid!
I would 100% replied to the message too, like “yes please come, this is an invitation”
So I don’t know much about this story/books, but Eiza and scifi show were enough for me to watch, it’s exciting to watch not knowing much, HOWEVER something isn’t clicking for me, like I don’t feel getting absorbed into this world, the ambiance is missing something, there isn’t a signature tone/vibe, the show almost feels like one of Harlan Coben’s Netflix adaptations, everything feels cheap CGI and green screens, I thought this was supposed to be a big production. I hope this gets better with the next episodes.
So far the mystery looks pretty straight forward, her mom was collateral damage while working on that family’s company, they covered it up, adopted her and moved on. Unless there’s a double turn?
Overall I enjoyed the show, it was entertaining and slightly different, the first half was way better while the second half was a little undone…
First of all I think all episodes should’ve been 36-42 mins, not 23 mins!
Then I thought the whole point of it being called “Based on a True Story” was for every season to be about a different killer, so I couldn’t believe this was the ending, like if we continue with this pace this story is gonna have a resolution by season 5.
And then I feel like this could’ve gone a few different ways but it ended going for my least favorite choice
I wanted for Matt to not actually be the killer and just pretending to cause he saw they were in need of a hit and money to save their marriage and he really liked them as friends so he went along with it
Or for them (Kaley and her husband) to suspect of him and forced him to be in their podcast as a favor but he was clueless about all the situation and he accidentally did shady stuff and then the killer was actually one of the husbands of the real estate ladies
But Matt actually being a women serial killer and them being their accomplices makes this show lose its charm, or Matt could’ve been an inclusive killer and kill all genders, but this wasn’t the case so this feels uncomfortable.
That omelette looked good!!
My only issue with the story -and it’s not really an issue cause this is not real life- is that The Beef is like a deli or sandwich shop in like I’m gonna say a middle class family neighborhood, like you got some local mafia guys hanging out there, but like very family style and traditional situation so how does The Bear fits in that street or for that public? Or maybe they are in downtown Chicago? Idk, but I feel it’s gonna be a very expensive and like “bougie” place, like weren’t they hosting arcade game competitions there?? So I feel like The Bear could possibly fail because they didn’t do a proper market research
Like I genuinely want to know how kaley + her husband thought they would become millionaires off of an anonymous murder podcast, being that it had to be anonymous cause they are all criminals
Was that Claire from the vampire dairies? Love her!
I loved the idea of the name “based on a true story:” so it can be a series! lol
Another way this could’ve went so they weren’t accomplices to a crime was that Matt was forcing them to make the podcast or it would be so funny if the guy that is interested in buying a house is the real killer and it turns out Matt was just playing along cause he felt sorry for them
I didn’t vibe with this!
I thought it was all about comedy and I laughed three times, with the “stray” cat, John talking to his mom multiple times a day, and the shady neighbor being just a realtor
But imo there was no comedy, no chemistry, no romance, the action/missions were pointless
Also killing the cat was very cruel, a scratch would’ve been enough
