[7.3/10] I do enjoy it when this show is a little lighter and sillier. The idea of Peter Parker’s house locking itself down and setting a series of appliance robots against the supposed “intruders” is a good one. Many of the sequences inside the killer house are marvelous (particularly White Tiger’s acrobatics), and the progression of Spider-Man helping each of his housemates/teammates out in turn is well done. Things get a little formulalic and static at the end when they’re all bolting to the attic to fight the fridge robot, but it’s not bad.
I also like the personal arc for Spidey here. Peter feeling cramped by his fellow Shield cadets having become his roommates, only to appreciate the way that they’re there to protect him, not just get in his way, is a little trite, but solid. And his later realization that he’s going to miss them, even as it turns out they’re going back to live in the new helicarrier, is well done. The whole “we were trying to throw a party to say thank you” to him, his growing understanding of his friends (whether it’s Nova’s genuine friendship with May or Iron Fist believing Peter’s room is “sacred”), or the gestures from his pals, there’s a sweetness and sturdiness to the arc that helps carry the day. Plus the gag with Shield bringing Spidey in a whole replacement house is very amusing.
Overall, this is a fairly regular episode, but it’s got enough comedy and heart to get you on board.

this was cute but also too childish... why did they have them fight robots?
