[7.2/10] Not bad. I enjoyed the gee-whiz excitement of the team going to the moon, Nova getting to be in his element and save the day, and Peter finding an unexpected kindred spirit in John Jameson. The low gravity combat and moonbase settings created some nice opportunities for unique action and challenges, and J.J. asking for Shield’s help and then getting testy with the results (to a kiss off from Fury) is a nice way to go out.
I just didn’t have much appreciation for the Man-Wolf himself. We’ve done a lot of “Peter tries to talk to the man inside the monster” outings lately, and this wasn’t particularly noteworthy or different. The design of Man-Wolf was fairly meh, with an odd Arthurian vibe that didn’t really stand out as anything but generic. But I did appreciate that he landed some real hits and posed a real challenge for our heroes (a la the Beatle’s first appearance), which boosted him a little. And I appreciated that Spidey had to come up with a specific way to slow and stop the beast, rather than the usual “just punch it until you win” thing.
Overall, there wasn’t much here to knock your socks off, but the setting and situation do a lot of good for the episode.
