"Humanity will fight" "I will lead them into battle" "We're making this a war"
1 minute later.
"No please i take it all back"
It makes sense they would specialize in viruses, given their atmosphere and they gave a vaccine earlier. So of course their capability would include releasing viruses across the earth, which could wipe us out pretty quickly. I mean look how long it took to make a vaccine for the coronavirus, around a year. We would stand no chance against these aliens.
There's good politics and ethics in this episode, but i would have liked before the acceptance of giving the children over that they asked the 456 for a demonstration to prove their capability. Even though the hotel bit at the end was nice, i would have like a greater demonstration at the end there. Like releasing a virus over a random city and then later giving the vaccine.
They spoke about the importance/power of Jack. Eh, what can he really do. Yeah he can't die, but he doesn't have any powers or technology, plus the hub is gone.
In real life i think there would be too much rioting and backlash against the government and army/army would also be split. There would be worldwide chaos in trying to protect the children. Maybe all the governments would collapse or maybe the governments would eventually be able to send the quota of children. Otherwise, we all die as a species. If we do the quota now, we can prepare to fight against them the next time they come.
I don't think people would buy the whole inoculation thing. Nor do i think the government would actually attempt to spin this in the first place, there would probably be leaks, and i don't think the government would do this. I think they would tell the public about it, then leave the decision to them maybe. Fight back and die as a species or offer the children in a lottery. Though there probably would be some underhanded stuff like rich people and politicians making underground bunkers.
