The first few seconds I'm like.. Is that the Skynet guy from Terminator 2? Yes! But man, this one is another sort of Butterfly Effect/Shadow Play type deal but in quantized reverse. In a situation like this, it's a really difficult choice to make. Good thing he sought out help from his colleague ahead of it.

This is an interesting temporal Twilight Zone mystery elevated by Joe Morton’s wonderful performance… that has been melded into the framework of The X-Files.
This is a 6 that’s as close to a 7 as you can get.
Scully and Doggett are barely in this episode as we follow a lawyer accused of killing his wife. He finds that time is going backwards for him after he is shot by his Father-in-Law. It's almost a "Momento" like story and it could have worked as a Twilight Zone with its morality play.
