This almost completely Mulder and Scuilly-less episode features Darren McGavin of Kolchak fame as FBI agent Dales who is assigned to arrest suspected Communists. This is a story where a few of these suspects have been surgically implanted with a spider-like creature that moves from host to host via mouth, as in vomit it up and then into the other person's mouth. This Dales guy was told of this experimentation by Mulder's father Bill (most of this story takes place in the '50s). This episode is by no means important to the mythology, but it is interesting nonetheless. Has a neat reference to how the X-Files began by Dales's secretary.

Have to agree with Roth here. Love the overall theme of the episode. Always enjoy flash back episodes. Makes X-Files feel even longer than it is.
