Definitely loving the twists in the story. Great 2-part episode. I'm stuck second guessing whether aliens are real or not (in the show). Cigarettee man caught me off guard and is that Fox's brother/relative?
All cards on the table now.
I want Kryceck to kiss me like that
Concrete answers. A concrete direction. I really enjoyed this episode. This two part episode is one of the most important episodes in the show regarding the alien mythos so far. Maybe even the most important.
With how convoluted the mythos has gotten over the seasons, this is probably one of the best ways you can pull the various elements together and move forward with a narrative/the mythos. A band aid on the wound, if you will.
I like how concrete the subject of colonization has been realized here.
The faceless beings being kind of rebels does kind of make sense. While i've explained previously how physically it doesn't make much sense in regards to their repelling of the black oil, it's not necessary for it all to make sense, you can just buy that they have made themselves immune against it. But how can they in the future communicate with people? We want them to eventually communicate with Mulder and Scully, or someone.
The rebels method of trying to kill those people who have been implanted with those devices seems kinda primitive for the kind of technology and abilities they should have.
I like the discussion between the illuminati about resistance vs non-resistance and the possible alliance with the alien rebels, or collaboration with the aliens.
It's beginning to feel grand and cosmological in scope, and there's enough sense for me to keep invested.
I like the deeper conversations between Mulder and Scully about their beliefs.
I like how the alien bounty hunter was tied in, being hired (or being apart of) the alien force to kill the alien rebels.
Spender being cancer man's son, uhh, okay? It's another element into the mix i guess. And i guess that could connect to Spender's mother too, like he could have experimented on her or something. Spender being his son feels forced though, because there's also the question about Mulder possibly being his son too.
I like how Mulder got a little bit of his alien faith renewed with the event at the end.
Chris Carter, the absolute madman, has pulled me back in. I was hooked in the beginning of the season, and now he's got me invested again in the mythos, like i haven't been since season 1/2. Well done.
aaaaaaaaaand the count of the days since Scully's last close encounter with death is now back to 0.
Part 2 of 2. Scully sees her first UFO. The faceless aliens (to avoid being infected with the black oil) save the crowd of abductees that gathered where the UFO has appeared. The Cigarette-Smoking Man returns.
Secondary characters in this episode: Krycek, Bounty Hunter, Agent Spender, Well-Manicured Man, Syndicate, Marita Covarrubius, CSM, Skinner, Agent Spender
