The X-Files: Season 11

11x08 Familiar

I kept expecting Sam and Dean Winchester to show up.

More of a classic x-files ep. leaves you wondering if something weird or supernatural actually happened or not lol I was satisfied.

Mr. Chuckleteeth, happy as can be
Mr. Chuckleteeth, won't you play with me
When I'm feeling lonely
Lonely as can be, oh
Mr. Chuckleteeth, won't you play with me
Mr. Chuckleteeth, we all love you so
Stay with us forever, and never let us go
Mr. Chuckleteeth, it's time to say farewell
If you try to run and hide, we'll send you straight to Hell.

More like an episode of Supernatural!!! BUT, Creepy and good.

Best episode of the season if you ask me. These are what X file episodes are all about.

So, they keep the rhythm: bad episode, good episode. This one I liked because it goes more along the lines of what x-files is about.

After last week's absolute worst episode in the history of the series, the show rebounds with a strong outing that hits on many of the best notes of a classic standalone episode from the show's heyday. A woman, embittered by her sheriff husband's infidelity, unleashes old dark magic in a small -- despite the apparent size of its police force -- Connecticut town. Along the way, Scully wants to accept the easy and obvious solution, but Mulder is at his skeptical best in this one and proves to be correct. On a casting note, I've joked for years that Roger Cross, who seems to make it a point to show up on every Vancouver-based show ever made, had somehow missed his chance with THE X-FILES. Then the revival came along and here we are: Roger shows up as a cop. Good job, Roger and Roger's agent. Cross this one off your list. :)

This is a return to the old school, monster-of-the-week episodes of the series. The witchcraft element of the story was there, but underplayed too much. I found myself thinking there was a killer wolf and a psycho-killer called Mr. Chuckleteeth murdering people at the same time. And speaking of Mr. Chuckleteeth, he looked pretty neat but his theme song was not effective and was played far too often. Mulder and Scully had some decent dialog even if it was a bit pretentious.

Secondary characters in this episode: none

I'm loving how people here mention that this reminded them of Supernatural, while I just couldn't get into Supernatural cause it felt to me like weak X Files rip off (I did watch just season and a half though).
Anyway, this was a classic X files through and through. Loved the costumes and general creepiness. At this point good stuff outshines the bad stuff in this season. Keep em coming.

Supernatural would've done this a million times better. It's like the X-Files isn't the X-Files anymore. This season has been Very Not Good.
