Zombie films and shows are settings that predominantly feature fictional undead beings. The setting originally spun from Haitian folklore, depicting zombies as an undead human raised by the dead via ritual. More modern interpretations present zombies as undead humans that arise via a virus that spreads rapidly and potentially leads to a worldwide apocalypse. Expect to see people struggling to survive against these creatures, and in many cases a side-plot devoted to discovering how the infection began, how it spread. Even more modern spins of this formula present zombies not necessarily as undead, but infected humans that emulate the behaviour of zombies.
Many forms of Zombie fiction are Post-Apocalyptic in nature, showing them in the context of a world ruined by their rampage - but this isn't necessarily the case.

One problem with TV reviews: For many shows, they only reflect the first few episodes of a given season, which makes it hard to get a sense of a season (or, indeed, series) as a whole after the fact. So, to get a better read on the current consensus and the staying power of each show, we have also aggregated best-of-the-decade lists published by a variety of entertainment publications in late 2019.
